In this episode, Han and Emily speak through an array of reminders that were important to hold close when diving into a committed recovery. The key takeaways are…Surrendering involves consistently doing. Even in the presence of doubt.Doing good often doesn't feel good.Your brain doesn't have to be on board.Neuroscience and psychology tells us the brain is wired for familiarity and survival, not joy or fulfilment.Your thoughts are not the truth. They cannot force you to act.Hunger is normal and safe. A body relentless communication of it (including mentally!) is absolutely reasonable.Discomfort is temporary. The hard moments will pass. Slips are not failures. Recovery is non linear.Embrace the fact that recovery is messy.Recovery is absolutely possible, and absolutely going to be worth it!
Happy Monday! Michael Chernow wants you to confront fear and take bold steps toward your dreams, especially when considering leaving a stable job to pursue a passion. He emphasizes the importance of evaluating the true worst-case scenario and recognizing that failure is rarely as devastating as we imagine. Don't let fear stand in the way of your potential and step into the ring with confidence.
One of the biggest and scariest questions I get from those around me is, “How did you know when it was time to leave? How did you choose the unknown over security?” Ooof, that's a tough one. If you aren't familiar with my story, about 10 years ago I was an unhappy, overtired, pent up corporate lawyer who had reached the end of my rope and decided I needed to make a change. I quit my 6-figure salary job, with no contingency plan in place. Luckily, I found calligraphy after a few months of stumbling through creative professions, which completely changed the trajectory of my life.People are so often in jobs that leave them burnt out and unfulfilled. They want to live the life they WANT to live – but fear getting out of the stable, safe 9-5 corporate job life they feel like they NEED to live. The way I see it, there are 2 paths. You either need to stay in the job you are in – but make the changes necessary to stifle the burnout, or leave – even if you don't feel ready, to pursue your passions. In this episode of The Shinah Show, I share the top things to consider when you're looking to make a change, including:

What happens when you decide to chase a dream despite overwhelming self-doubt? Melanie O'Reilly-Ralictors faced this exact question when planning her first-ever motherhood summit. Her powerful story demonstrates that courage isn't the absence of fear—it's moving forward despite it.Melanie, founder of Mostly Under Control, describes herself as "not a risk-taker at all," yet found herself planning an ambitious in-person event for mothers seeking deeper connection. With a background in early childhood education and having pivoted her business multiple times as her family grew (including the surprise of twins!), she realized her expertise could create something truly meaningful for women beyond standard parenting advice. The journey wasn't smooth. Fears of financial loss, disappointing speakers, poor attendance, and potential embarrassment plagued her planning process. What pushed her through? A combination of mindset shifts, unwavering support from her husband, business coaching, and a simple yet powerful mantra: "Even Amazon started in someone's garage." This perspective transformed her thinking from "I've only sold four tickets" to "I've already sold four tickets!"Most valuable is Melanie's practical advice for anyone contemplating their own leap of faith. She emphasizes surrounding yourself with the right people—those who see possibilities rather than obstacles. Her strategy of finding different types of supporters (cheerleaders, challengers, and implementers) creates a balanced network that propels you forward. As she discovered, "Nobody really knows what they're doing" in business—we're all figuring it out as we go.Ready to take your own leap? Welcome back, Product Bosses! If you've ever felt stuck waiting for the “right time” to take action, this episode is for you. I'm diving into the reality of uncertainty—how it's always present and why it doesn't have to hold you back. Instead of seeing uncertainty as a roadblock, what if it's actually the push you need to take control of your future? The truth is, stability is an illusion, and the longer we wait for things to feel safe, the more opportunities we miss.In this episode, I break down why uncertainty can actually be a powerful motivator. Many successful entrepreneurs didn't start when everything was perfect—they took action despite the unknowns. When you shift your mindset and see change as an opportunity instead of a threat, you unlock a whole new level of potential. Whether it's launching a new product, scaling your business, or finally taking that big leap, now is always the best time to start. If you've been holding back, waiting for a sign, consider this episode your sign. Taking control of your future doesn't mean waiting for the right circumstances—it means creating them.
