This week Brett and Walker talk about the incredibly engaging puzzle game Hexcells Infinite. Combining elements of sodoku and minesweeper along with its own unique ideas Hexcells Infinite shows that games can be meaningful and engaging even without cutscenes or character arcs. This week we've 6 beers and 5 games to chat through. Aadil starts off the drinking with Hopstravaganza from The White Hag, Lucy has World King Fist from Burning Soul Brewery and Ben drinks Deya's Something Good 5. Both Aadil and Lucy have been playing The Almost Gone, a recently released point and click puzzle game. Lucy continues the point and click fun with her thoughts on Edna & Harvey: The Breakout - Anniversary Edition. More beers are cracked. Lucy sticks with Burning Soul drinking the Zephyr Saison. Aadil has Buxton Brewery's Costa Rican Coffee Extra Porter and Ben finishes with another All Together beer this time from Verdant Brewing Co. Aadil touches briefly on Hexcells and as always Lucy has played all the games so chats about the fun she had with Maneater. We finish on a little more The Last of Us Part II chat, again no spoilers are shared.
This is a bit of a challenging week, and we largely went into it not knowing if we actually had a show or not. If you look at our trello there is mostly just a bunch of comments about how we played nothing but Shadowbringers this week. Kodra played a few things and we talk about Tametsi and Mario Maker 2 some more… and then there is a brief interlude about the TennoCon Stream. However the majority of this show is us talking about Shadowbringers and we have limited ourselves to only talking spoilers up until the first Trial. This is of course because we are progressed to various points in the story… and my god does the story matter this time. Topics Discussed: Tametsi Hexcells Lumines Mario Maker 2 TennoCon Stream Shadowbringers The only thing most of us played this week More general impressions Spoilers for up to the First Shb Trial Spoilers about Stormblood Lali-hooooooooooooooo! Quite possibly the best Final Fantasy Game Ever?
A ten-sided shape appears in your hands. It's this week's podcast! And it's all about puzzle games. John enjoys number puzzles like Hexcells and Globesweeper. Matt enjoys the Jindosh box of Dishonored 2. And Brendan likes being a pretend hacker in Zachlikes. But we’ve also played non-puzzle games. Apex Legends has been keeping Matt happy with its bullets and crows. While John is liking the unserious shooting of Far Cry: New Dawn. Brendan still just wants to punch people in Yakuza Kiwami.
