Oakland, California power pop outfit The Goods return August 19 with “Minor Key,” the second advance single from their upcoming LP Goodbye Summertime, due September 16 on Dandy Boy Records. Following the shimmering optimism of first single “Summer’s Almost Gone,” songwriter Rob Good reveals the more vulnerable side of the forthcoming record with a bittersweet meditation on heartbreak, memory, and letting go. For fans of The Lemon Twigs, Teenage Fanclub, Matthew Sweet, Young Guv, The Apples In Stereo, The Raspberries, and Sharp Pins, “Minor Key” peels back another layer of an album that stretches far beyond the jangling power pop foundations of The Goods’ earlier work. Some records take years to write. Goodbye Summertime seemed to write itself. “My whole life turned upside down one summer,” recalls Good. “The long-term relationship I was in collapsed, and in the wake of that, I found new love. I was sorting through the grief and failure of my previous relationship and the bliss and anxiety of my new one all at once, all while basically living at my recording studio, and I found myself in an intensely creative state.” The songs came fast. “I’d be experiencing some crazy high or crushing low, and I’d write a song about it and immediately record it. Many of these songs are real-time accounts of what I was going through in those moments.” That urgency finds its emotional center on “Minor Key,” a wistful farewell to someone left behind. While “Summer’s Almost Gone” urged listeners to embrace the present before it disappeared, “Minor Key” lingers in the quiet after the moment has already passed. It’s a song for the drive home after last call, watching the Bay Bridge disappear into the fog in the rearview mirror, replaying conversations you wish had ended differently. As Good puts it, it’s simply “a bittersweet goodbye to someone left behind.” Across Goodbye Summertime’s fourteen tracks, Good follows those emotional threads wherever they lead. The Revolver-inspired haze of “Lazy,” the Mellotron-soaked melancholy of “Punchbowl,” the vulnerability of “Wing,” and the slow-building Wurlitzer crescendo of album closer “Sleepytime” reveal a songwriter widening his palette without sacrificing the hooks that first put The Goods on the map. Produced by Good in his Oakland studio, with contributions from Cherron Arens, Yea-Ming Chen, and Ian McBrayer, then mixed and mastered by Bart Thurber, the record feels expansive without losing the intimacy of its origins. Markets are partying like it's 2021 again, but consumers are cracking, inflation is heating up, and policymakers may be losing control. This week, we unpack the AI-driven melt-up in equities, the hidden stress building across Main Street, and why hyperscaler debt, derivatives mania, and rising bond yields are creating an increasingly unstable macro backdrop. We also explore the consumer slowdown, Nvidia selling chips to China, tariff reversals, retail speculation, energy inflation, Fed paralysis, and the growing disconnect between capital markets and the real economy. THE NATURE WANDERERThanks for wandering through nature with me on another episode of The Nature Wanderer! In this episode of The Nature Wanderer, I'm talking about one of North America's greatest wildlife success stories: the incredible comeback of the wild turkey. Not that long ago, wild turkeys were nearly wiped out across much of their range. Habitat loss, unregulated hunting, and growing human development pushed these iconic birds to the edge. In many places, they had almost disappeared completely. But today, turkeys are once again strutting through forests, fields, and even suburban neighborhoods, reminding us that conservation really can work.In this episode, I explore how wildlife biologists, hunters, conservationists, and everyday nature lovers came together to help bring wild turkeys back from the brink. We'll look at early restoration efforts, innovative trapping and relocation programs, and the surprising resilience of these birds.I also share some fun and fascinating turkey facts, from their complex social lives and powerful flight abilities to their incredible eyesight and unmistakable gobble. Along the way, we'll talk about what their recovery teaches us about protecting other species and habitats. The story of the wild turkey is more than just about birds. It's about what's possible when people choose to work with nature instead of against it.Whether you're a birder, a hiker, a hunter, or someone who just enjoys spotting turkeys along back roads and trails, I hope this episode gives you a deeper appreciation for these remarkable survivors of the woods. Thanks for wandering with me.Support the podcast and other Nature Wanderer projects: Donate here: ko-fi.com/thenaturewanderer Nature journals and books by The Nature Wanderer: Amazon Author Page Nature Wanderer merch: naturewanderer.org/merchNature Exploring storefront: Amazon StorefrontLet's stay connected! www.thenaturewanderer.com Instagram FacebookDon't forget to share, subscribe, review, and download to help others find the podcast. The $100 Silver Window Is Almost Gone — And This Time It Won't Reopen Watch this video at- https://youtu.be/bXIi8jBSW6Y?si=XOflk-EgU8fzw665 Money Rewind 29 subscribers 788 views Dec 4, 2025 This documentary investigates a recurring four-stage pattern in commodity markets, analyzing its potential application to the contemporary silver market. The central thesis posits that assets historically used as money often undergo a cycle of Establishment, Manipulation, Squeeze, and eventual Break of the paper derivative market. This analysis is contextualized through an examination of current market phenomena, including significant physical silver withdrawals from COMEX vaults, the suspension of silver sales by major international banks, and the presence of market backwardation—a key indicator of acute physical demand. The narrative draws parallels to major historical precedents, including the 1980 silver crisis precipitated by the Hunt brothers, the 1971 "Nixon Shock" which severed the U.S. dollar's final link to gold, and the 2001 palladium supply shock. By dissecting silver's dual role as both a historic monetary asset and an indispensable industrial commodity facing a structural supply deficit, the film argues that the modern silver market is exhibiting classic signs of the "Squeeze" phase, signaling a potential decoupling between the price of physical metal and its paper equivalents. How do you know if the person you recently hired is the right one? In this episode, Dr. Kuba and Bethany discuss three recent examples where practice owners are evaluating this very question. At the 60 day point, one practice owner is already beginning to doubt her clinical assistant's skillset. Another practice owner is trying to decide if it's worth continuing to invest in his newest assistant who continues to buck the cultural norms of his practice. And yet, another practice owner likes her newest assistant (of 18 months) but the team can't stand her. Dr. Kuba gives her advice in each of these three scenarios in hopes that listeners have tools to use when they are trying to decide whether to hire or fire. Changes in a practice are necessary. At times, changes are thrust upon a team, forcing them to pivot. Other times, the practice owner is watching the horizon for economic, technological, or financial impacts that may also force change. Regardless, change is necessary at times and also desirable at times. So, it can be extremely disheartening to have a team that refuses to follow their leader into new changes. In this episode, Dr. Kuba and Bethany discuss the difficultly of change and yet the importance of it. They also discuss how to view and manage team members that may be resisting the revisions. They end with an important message for all practice owners and team members – don't be a dingbat! When it comes to John Carpenter's iconic franchise, Halloween, most people may be familiar, in the abstract, with the name Moustapha Akkad as his name is the first to appear in the opening credits for every movie. What fans of the series may not be familiar with is how integral Moustapha was to bringing the story of Michael Myers to life, producing all 8 original movies, even after John Carpenter, himself, left the series. To celebrate Halloween, Brian Santana joins me to talk about the life of Moustapha Akkad, the man born to a customs officer in Syria, who came to Hollywood to bring the story of Islam to life on the big screen. From his movie, The Message, to becoming the silent force behind one of the horror genre's greatest franchises, Moustapha Akkad's life was rich with creativity until his violent death at the hands of suicide bombers in Amman, Jordan. This is the story of his life and his enduring legacy, honoring the man who was so pivotal in making Michael Myers and the season what it is today. Every once in a while, hopefully rarely, you get smacked with terribly sickening mistakes. There is a long list of “small mistakes” that practices make that feel less consequential – like incorrectly spelling a patient's name, communicating the wrong appointment date/time to a patient, or collecting an incorrect amount for treatment rendered. However, this episode focuses on some haunting mistakes that were brought to Dr. Kuba and Bethany's attention. In these situations, mistakes were made by team members and associates, leaving the practice owners terribly exposed and at risk. Take your blood pressure medicine, and listen in! Some practices are plagued with rumor mill problems while other practices are lucky enough to only have to deal with gossip girls on occasion. Either way, an active rumor mill can wreak havoc on a time. It can be a major determining factor in employee retention. It can diminish the efficiency of team members, thus impacting the productivity of the office. It can also lead to explosive meetings or events. Dr. Kuba and Bethany discuss a gut wrenching issue today – when to fire patients, how to fire patients, and everything else related to this topic. They reflect back on a recent episode where Dr. Jones described an unruly patient. Together, they discuss the pros and cons of firing a patient as well as the underlying question of “How do you know when it is the right time to fire a patient?” It is a difficult subject that plagues practice owners from time to time, so tune in to hear tips and points to consider before you decide to fire a patient from your practice. On August 7, 1972, 16-year-old Jeannette DePalma left her home in Springfield, New Jersey, to go to work, but she never made it back home. Six weeks later, Jeannette's body was found atop Devil's Teeth, a cliff in Houdaille Quarry. With very little evidence, no clear suspects, and rumors of her being the victim of a Satanic Cult, her case has gone cold with no answers to be had for any of the countless questions left in the wake of her death. 53 years later, the mystery of what really happened to Jeannette DePalma has continued to baffle those who still remember her. As summer drew to a close in September of 1966 in Cincinnati, Ohio, something terrible was happening at 3381 Greenway Avenue amid another killer's reign of terror attacking women. The Bricca family, Jerry, Linda, and their little girl, Debbie, were brutally murdered in their own home as their neighbors gathered in their homes, settling in to watch TV on that rainy evening. Decades later, the mystery of who committed this heinous crime and who was responsible remains unsolved. Today, I am joined by Brian Santana as my cohost as we sit down with the one man who has spent his life investigating this crime. J.T. Townsend walks us through the crime that has had a hold of him since childhood, so much so that he compiled his research into a comprehensive look at the case in his book Summer's Almost Gone. J.T. takes us through it all, from the timeline, the possible motives, and the person who he believes got away with murderJ. T. Townsend is a freelance writer, armchair detective, and lifelong resident of Cincinnati. He is the author of the 2009 regional best-seller Queen City Gothic, and 2014's Queen City Notorious, and his work has appeared in the Cincinnati Enquirer, Cincinnati Magazine, Word Magazine, Crime Traveler, and Clews. He has presented over 300 programs in the Cincinnati area as part of his True Crime Lecture Series, including Jack the Ripper, Lizzie Borden, and the Lindbergh Kidnapping. A true crime collaboration with the insightful and kind, Nina Innsted, creator and host of the Already Gone podcast. Together we explore the intricate world of missing persons cases, the truth about the rise of disturbing social media scams exploiting missing persons, grim realities faced by families of missing and murdered loved ones, and the critical need to strengthen resources and data to tell the whole story. Nina covers The Great Lakes region on Already Gone so, as I do, I learned a bit about the area and, well, it is incredible (you can find me rabbit holing aboutthe phenomenon of Great Lakes' shipwrecks). As October marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our conversation takes a close look at the intersection of domestic violence and missing persons and the risks involved for people who are fleeing abusive situations and the need for discretion to protect them and their escape. We discuss the unique challenges for individuals leading non-traditional lifestyles, who are most vulnerable. We share important resources for anyone who may experience a missing person in their family or circle. With contributions from fellow podcasters and advocates, this episode is a compelling call to action for greater understanding and support in missing persons cases. The Cubs refuse to concede that it's over — and there are still things to play for — but getting swept out of Cleveland damaged the team's diminishing postseason probability. But with the way this up-and-down season has gone, a relatively easy stretch of the schedule could pull them right back into the playoff race. Sahadev Sharma and Patrick Mooney of The Athletic also bring you the latest on Rockies catcher Elias Díaz and whether the Cubs would see that as an upgrade — or if they would similarly dump players onto waivers if things don't turn around fast. Please leave this podcast page a rating and review so that more people discover North Side Territory.

This critically endangered animal was reduced to just over 180 animals left in the wild! However, conservation agencies and zoos around the world are fighting hard to save the Gharial! Reintroduction efforts are continuing throughout India and Nepal to reestablish healthy Gharial populations. These are true survivors and are some amazing reptiles. For sure a not to miss podcast!
