Listeners Choice Month finishes off with a movie that many warned about and caused a firestorm of online rage from any poor soul that witnessed the release of the very misbegotten premise and trailer. The guys talk about the truly offensive premise combined with some of the laziest filmmaking in cinema history, the random M. Night Shyamalan slam, racist foreshadowing, the iPhone edit, the most infuriating ending of all-time, comparisons to the Dolly Parton film Straight Talk and much, much more. Check our social media on Sunday for the Sunday Screencrap and take a guess at our next movie! What We've Been Watching: The Bob's Burgers Movie "Bob's Burgers" Questions? Comments? Suggestions? This week on Shite & Sound, Finn and Uther watch two films about a doomed relationship, 'Ali: Fear Eats the Soul' (1974), where writer/director Rainer Werner Fassbinder cast himself as an unrepentant racist and misogynist, and 'The Test' (2012), where writer/director Jeremy Saville accidentally cast himself as an unrepentant racist and misogynist. 'Demolition Man'. A surprising amount of Yiddish. What is wrong with Jeremy Saville? Uther wants to destroy all men and Finn makes some pizza revelations. Today we finally review a movie that we in no way endorse what so ever. The 2019 film Loqueesha directed, edited, produced and starring Jeremy Saville. Aside from being completely racist, this is just straight up one of the worst things we have ever seen and not even in a fun way. We watched this so that you don't have to. A middle-aged white man pretends to be a sassy black woman in order to get a job. That’s okay, right? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7620554/
This week on the podcast, Dan and Casey get monsterous with the latest Godzilla movie (and first from director Michael Dougherty.) How does it smash-up compared to previous Godzilla entries? They find out, while Greg stays at home and watches Jeremy Saville's The Test. Yes, the director of Loqueesha's earlier film, a seemingly horrific "comedy" about some truly awful things. Finally, nobody gonna break-a-our stride as we talk about our punishment album. All of this, plus so much more! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
This week on the podcast, Nathan and Clint talk about two very different kinds of monsters — the fictional beasties of Godzilla, King of the Monsters and the very real monster behind the tone-deaf anti-comedies The Test and Loqueesha, Jeremy Saville. One levels buildings and pulls high-tension wires down, and the other makes deeply strange, misguidedly offensive screeds about how women shouldn’t be trusted and how hard it is for white men to get ahead in the entertainment business. Which of them is king of the monsters? As Ken Watanabe would say, “Let them fight.” Amidst the rubble, we also pick up We Hate Movies’ Andrew Jupin, who finally overcame some Internet difficulties to jump into our recording sesh! 6:00 - Scalding Hot Takes: Godzilla: King of the Monsters 36:38 - The Test, Loqueesha and What the Hell is Wrong with Jeremy Saville? 1:35:43 - Mailbag 1:42:41 - Happy Places Follow us on Twitter at @RabinsCast (Nathan: @nathanrabin, Clint: @clintworthing)! "The trailer was like when a guy says I know this is racist, BUT... and then the movie is like if you stick around to hear what the person is gonna say after that" In this episode Matt Greenberg of the Co-Pilots podcast (@WeAreCoPilots) joins us to discuss Jeremy Saville’s “movie” Loqueesha, an unvarnished portrayal of the psychosexual turmoil of its creator, in which a white, divorced, middle-aged bartender becomes a hit on Detroit talk radio by impersonating an imaginary black woman named Loqueesha. As we state countless times in the show, please do not watch Loqueesha. We only took this bullet so that hopefully none of you have to sit through this modern day minstrel show. We are begging you to not watch this movie. Even a seasoned fan of cult movies like The Room, films that end up on Mystery Science Theater 3000, or any other “bad” movies should be forewarned about the staggering levels of self-delusion, pathological obsession, and straight up racism that Saville must suffer from to have made this cringey attempt at comedy. As usual, we love dredging up the foulest aspects of politics and pop culture for you and this is truly the bottom of the barrel. This is the reactionary right wing entertainment that reactionary right wing people deserve.
Do you like pain? Do you enjoy suffering? Then watch the new film Loqueesha on Amazon Prime. The Lodgecast called for an emergency VOD screening after viewing the trailer in disbelief. But we were not prepared for what writer/director/producer Jeremy Saville had cooked up. Arguably the most painful movie we have watched on this podcast, Loqueesha is sure to unite all races and genders in universal hatred for this movie. We report back to you our experience so you never have to watch it. The Loqueesha Line has been crossed! Ouch!
