The acupuncture and East Asian profession is facing a number of critical challenges as long-established schools close, new federal guidelines on graduate education loans will dramatically change how much students can borrow, and fewer students consider a career as an acupuncturist. How to wayfind through these troubled times? That is the question explored in this series with practitioners, researchers, and educators in the field of East Asian medicine. In this conversation with Danielle Reghi we follow the arc of her career from acquiring and dealing with upwards of 200K in debt, to building a multi-location practice and learning how business acumen is as necessary as clinical skills. She is the president of the Oregon Association of Acupuncturists. She played a key role in drafting the Oregon Acupuncture Workforce Sustainability Proposal, which considers the effect of the new RISE and AHEAD metrics from the federal government and how those affect the amount graduate students may borrow. Additionally this proposal looks at other educational options and alternative pathways that can lead to licensure in the State of Oregon.Any discussion of the future requires a clear eyed view of the present. You'll get that in this conversation with Danielle, along with some innovative thinking about what's up around the bend in the road..

I've been bugging Elizabeth Bruckner for months to come back on the podcast, because I've been listening to her other podcast guest episodes and feeling like we've been missing out, and I finally wore her down. I'm kidding - she's been wanting to go deep about Kefir with someone, and I've been interested in learning about it, and finding a fermented food I can actually ingest. And boy oh boy, did we get an education!Elizabeth was a guest in 2025 (episode 148) to talk about her book, The Homesteader Mindset, that had just published. We talked about homesteading and how you don't have to have a certain look or property to be a homesteader. Kefir is a part of Elizabeth's journey to health. She very vulnerably shares that she was bed bound for weeks, housebound for months, and unable to work for years, due to an illness. She began to heal as she started researching herself; she is now an Oriental Medicine Practitioner and Acupuncturist. She learned about organic foods and fermented foods, among many other things. Elizabeth's message is to start small, and add on as you feel comfortable - with kefir, and homesteading, or any new habits. When talking to friends, someone asked for an easy step to take to make an impact, and her answer was quickly KEFIR. It's a really easy thing to add to your routine! I've been doing it for a few weeks now - not sure if I'm seeing benefits yet, but there definitely aren't any bad things. I have terrible eyesight, but my nose and ears make up for that - I had to trick my nose with a taste of jam or cranberry sauce with kefir to help it go down... I do like that it's not sweet - I'm not a yogurt person, because it's always very sweet (and I don't like the "tang" of plain yogurt).Access to Elizabeth's Kefir course: http://www.createwellnessproject.com/kefir - remember, use code Grounded for 25% off!Her website: https://createwellnessproject.com/Send me a message!Support the showLike this episode? Let's talk about period blood clots. Are they normal? A problem? Why doesn't your OBGYN seem to know what to do with them? As a Certified FertilityCare Practitioner, I get these questions a lot. Western medicine doesn't have a lot to offer, though. So, what about eastern medicine? Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has long focused on the quality of menstruation and has developed patterns related to period clots. This episode with licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, Emily Kuentz, explains this eastern perspective and how it can provide resources to women struggling with blood clots. In this episode, we explore:⭐️ The five reasons women may have period clots, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine⭐️ The eastern vs western explanations for period clots⭐️ One surprising thing you can start doing to potentially help blood clots like thisNOTE: This episode is appropriate for all audiences.GUEST BIO: Emily Kuentz, M.S., L.Ac., Dipl. Most acupuncturists think they need to post more on social media to get patients. In reality, the problem usually isn't consistency—it's specificity. In this episode, I sit down with social media strategist Britt Cunningham, founder of Britt Social Media, to talk about why so many acupuncture clinic owners feel stuck posting content that only their current patients see. Britt and her team help clinics across the country turn social media visibility into real leads and booked appointments, and she shares exactly what's working right now on platforms like Instagram and TikTok.We talk about the biggest mistakes practitioners make when creating content, why general “wellness” posts rarely work, and how speaking directly to a specific problem can dramatically increase engagement and patient inquiries. If you've ever felt like you're posting constantly but not actually reaching new people, this conversation will give you a completely different way to think about your social media strategy. If you're a licensed health professional in British Columbia, this episode breaks down why the upcoming shift from the Health Professions Act to the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA) could significantly impact how you practice, what you can say, and even whether you can keep your license. Kendra walks through the key provisions raising concern for practitioners, including government-appointed regulatory boards, expanded enforcement powers, and the potential consequences for non-compliance. Beyond explaining what's changing, this conversation explores the bigger question many practitioners are quietly asking: what happens when the rules of your profession change after you've already built your career around them? Kendra shares why more licensed professionals are exploring alternative practice models and what it can look like to build a business outside traditional regulatory structures. This episode is ultimately about awareness, choice, and professional autonomy. Whether you plan to stay within the regulated system or consider a different path, Kendra encourages practitioners to understand what's coming, think critically about their options, and make decisions that align with how they want to practice long-term.What We Cover in This EpisodeWhat the HPOA Actually Changes and Why Practitioners Are Paying Attention (00:50)The Real Risks to Your License, Income, and Professional Autonomy (05:05)Why More Practitioners Are Exploring Online Health Coaching Models (09:30)How to Transition Safely Without Burning Down Your Current Career (12:00)Why Waiting Could Cost You Options (Timing Matters More Than You Think) (15:30) Resources mentioned:Apply for HCA: https://go.kendraperry.net/apply-hca Leave the podcast a 5-star review: https://ratethispodcast.com/wealthyWATCH ON YOUTUBE

In this solo episode of The Wholesome Fertility Podcast, Michelle Oravitz, fertility acupuncturist and holistic fertility coach, breaks down the most common misconceptions she encounters in her clinic. Drawing on nearly a decade of experience supporting couples on their fertility journey, Michelle sheds light on the myths that can hold people back from conceiving, from misunderstanding the fertile window and fearing healthy fats, to overdoing green juices and neglecting stress management. You'll learn why fertility is about more than just timing or diet, how mindset and nervous system health play a pivotal role, and why it's essential to approach conception as a shared journey between partners. Whether you're just beginning your fertility path or seeking to fine-tune your approach, this episode will empower you with knowledge and clarity to support your reproductive health naturally. Key Takeaways: Many women miscalculate ovulation and the fertile window, it's not always mid-cycle. Healthy fats like avocado, ghee, and full-fat dairy support hormone production. Too much raw food and cold drinks can create a "cold womb," affecting fertility. Over-focusing on "doing all the right things" can increase stress and hinder conception Fertility is a shared responsibility, sperm health is just as crucial as egg health. Seeking professional and emotional support can make the journey smoother and less isolating. Join us as we explore the journey of Connie Warden, a local author and acupuncturist from Littleton, Colorado, who has recently published a book that bridges her personal experiences with her professional wisdom. In our conversation, Connie shares her path from discovering yoga at a young age to mastering oriental medicine and embracing indigenous cultures. She reveals a pivotal moment on the road that highlighted a gap between her personal values and actions, leading her to emphasize the importance of self-awareness in everyday situations. Listen in as Connie discusses how aligning actions with beliefs can turn mundane experiences into opportunities for personal growth. We also touch on the power of choosing courage over negativity by sharing personal anecdotes and insights from thought leaders like Brene Brown. Through stories from her time at OsteoStrong, we explore how adopting a compassionate perspective can enhance personal peace and interactions with others. The episode concludes with practical ways to connect with Connie, including her social media presence and special offers for listeners. We celebrate her journey in publishing and the impact her work has on readers' lives, all while highlighting the broader theme of learning through activities and sports that challenge our internal narratives.
