In late November, four Good Samaritans came to the rescue of an officer in Georgia who was trapped inside a burning patrol vehicle. In August, three Good Samaritans came to the aid of a deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department who was in a potentially deadly struggle with a suspect. There are myriad other examples of citizens coming to the assistance of an officer in trouble. In this podcast segment, Jim and Doug discuss how police can be aided by police supporters, and how to tell interested citizens that they're most helpful in backing away.

Twenty-four year old Mitrice Richardson wasn't making sense. She was sending cryptic text messages and indecipherable social media posts. Her mother was concerned, and on September 16th, 2009, she received a call explaining that Mitrice had been arrested in Malibu. After speaking with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Mitrice's mother was told her daughter wouldn't be released until the morning. With plans of picking her up the next day, her mother went to sleep. When she awoke, she was startled to discover Mitrice had been released and now, no one knew where she was.Over the course of the next year the anger between the family and Sheriff's department continued to grow as lies were uncovered and Mitrice's family felt the Sheriff's department was conducting a coverup. On August 9th, 2010, eleven months after she disappeared, Mitrice's body was recovered down a remote Canyon some six miles from the Sheriff's station. The discovery sadly confirmed that Mitrice had died, but the question of how would become the center of a firestorm of controversy.Join host Steven Pacheco as he examines the details of this deeply tragic and confusing case. For more information please visit: https://www.trace-evidence.comhttps://www.patreon.com/traceevidence Social Media:https://twitter.com/TraceEvPodhttps://www.instagram.com/traceevidencepod/https://www.facebook.com/groups/traceevidencepodMusic Courtesy of: "Lost Time" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/Sources: http://www.malibutimes.com/news/article_23018506-3381-5c16-a12b-c716085a9265.html | http://www.lamag.com/citythinkblog/what-happened-to-mitrice-richardson/ | https://www.dailynews.com/2017/02/01/mitrice-richardsons-family-speaks-out-as-state-says-deputies-shouldnt-be-prosecuted-in-her-death/ | https://www.dailynews.com/2015/11/28/5-years-after-mitrice-richardsons-remains-were-found-in-malibu-her-death-still-raises-questions/ | https://foxync.com/1778841/mitrice-richardsons-mom-wants-remains-examined/ | https://www.lipstickalley.com/threads/mitrice-richardson-discussion.204531/ | http://www.blackgirltragic.com/home/2016/5/19/the-mysterious-disappearance-death-of-mitrice-richardson | https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/tag/mitrice-richardson/

If you are tired of dealing with negative student behaviors day in and day out, you are not alone—in fact, you are firmly in the center of the average educator’s experience. Still, managing difficult student behaviors eventually sucks the energy from most educators, no matter how talented or experienced. Which leads us to the story which inspired this Podcast Episode. A teacher and student at a southeast Los Angeles, California, high school came to blows Friday afternoon, and it was all caught on video. The footage shows Maywood Academy High School music teacher Marston Riley, 64, standing face to face with a 14-year-old boy at the front of a classroom when Riley punches him. It's at this point the two begin exchanging punches. The boy wound up on the ground wrapping his arms around Riley's leg. Riley, at this point, repeatedly punches him. The boy, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for moderate injuries and later released, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Riley was arrested on charges of child abuse, the release said.

I think all these people need a come to Jesus moment. I wish I didn't have to have this conversation but I got tired of hearing about it. I'm letting my voice be heard, and hopefully someone is listening. When you live in a glass house, don't throw stone. Katt Williams has had more than his share of run-ins with the law. On November 13, 2006, Williams was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport after a stolen gun was found in his briefcase. On December 14, 2006, Williams pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed firearm and was sentenced to three years' probation, ordered to pay restitution, and was given credit for the three days he spent in jail. In November 2010, Williams was arrested by police while working on a film in Coweta County, Georgia. He was accused of stealing $3,500 worth of coins and jewelry. He was released the following day on a $40,000 bond. Police later charged Williams with burglary and criminal trespass. On June 11, 2011, Williams was arrested in connection with an alleged assault on a tractor driver. The alleged victim said three women approached his tractor at around 4:30 p.m. local time and attacked him with rocks and dirt clods, causing him facial injuries. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department officers arrived on the scene and arrested the three women for assault with a deadly weapon and Williams for felony intimidation of a witness. On April 27, 2016, Williams was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia and charged with battery after allegedly throwing a saltshaker at the manager of Spondivits, a local restaurant. The manager claimed to have been hit in the mouth with the salt shaker when Williams' group was denied preferential seating. He was arrested July 24, 2016 on suspicion of battery after an altercation with a woman at the Sportsman's Lodge, a hotel in Sherman Oaks, California. On September 15, 2016, Williams was arrested in Fulton County, Georgia, on a charge of second-degree criminal damage to property, after having turned himself in on a warrant for failing to appear in court for the April 27 incident. This new arrest involved a February 28, 2016, allegation that the comedian threw a man's cellphone. On October 6, 2018 Williams was arrested in Portland, Oregon on a charge of assault in the fourth degree, after he assaulted a town car driver during an argument about his dog. Williams was additionally arrested on an outstanding warrant from Georgia. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/nikimarieradio/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/nikimarieradio/support

Topics covered on today's episode of Mind Set Daily "Humans Will Compete with Droids for Jobs by 2040, study claims" By 2040, cabs will be driven by Google robots, shops will become showrooms for online outlets and call centres will be staffed by intelligent droids. That’s the scenario depicted in recent research which suggests robots could be taking over our lives and jobs in less than 30 years. The competition for work caused by a rise in the robots population will see us heading to surgeons for ‘additional processing power for our brains’, they claim. We may also be requesting bionic implants for our hands that will make us able to perform tasks as fast as any machine. Those who take these risks and innovate with their own bodies will be the biggest earners in 2040, they claim. Experts expect the current 37.4 hour working week to increase by a third to 50.5 hours. The gloomy study predicts we will work several ‘micro jobs’ from a desk in our bedroom, and across different time zones. Smarter software and hardware such as wearable devices are already changing the way we communicate and this will continue to develop rapidly.‘But it will also alter the way robots or artificial intelligences interact with us, as call centre workers are replaced by machines that can learn and question.Humans may even feel the need to compete against such artificial intelligences for jobs, as genetic or android technology develops to the extent we can self-improve in the same way as a software upgrade. Just think about it... "Eyes Over Compton: How Police Spied on a Whole City" In a secret test of mass surveillance technology, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department sent a civilian aircraft over Compton, California, capturing high-resolution video of everything that happened inside that 10-square-mile municipality. If it's adopted, Americans can be policed like Iraqis and Afghanis under occupation–and at bargain prices. Many Americans elect their own sheriffs. This is the future if nothing is done to stop them. A sergeant in the L.A. County Sheriff's Department compared the experiment to Big Brother, even though he went ahead with it willingly. Is your city next?
