See all the Healthcasts at https://www.biobalancehealth.com/healthcast-blog You can convince yourself of a fairy tale that the US government provides us with excellent advice on how to be healthy—for instance, what the percentages of each food group should be, like the food pyramid or the food plate. However, time has shown that they aren't focused on our health with their recommendations; rather, they are attempting to promote the food produced in the US. It's all about money. We now understand that the government-approved food pyramid has contributed to an increase in obesity, illness, and diabetes over the last 60 years, primarily because its main goal was to promote grains in the form of cereals to children. This has led to the unfortunate situation we face today, characterized by rising rates of diabetes and obesity. To make matters worse, iodine has been removed from bread and other foods, leaving many Americans with hypothyroidism. The allowed food additives extend shelf life (and profits) but diminish human longevity. Ultimately, the government should not dictate our dietary choices! Supplements are substances like minerals, vitamins, peptides, and glandulars intended to enhance the inadequate American diet; however, medical societies and the FDA do not endorse their use. Nonetheless, we need them to improve nutrition, prevent disease, and provide the building blocks for bones and muscles, as well as to counteract the chemicals present in our water, food, and air mandated by the government. Supplements help protect us from the poor advice and environmental pollution we encounter in everyday life. Environmental regulations and processes have resulted in increased illnesses, such as hypothyroidism, due to the addition of fluoride to our water instead of solely to our toothpaste. Fluoride depletes iodine levels in our breasts and thyroid, contributing to conditions like breast cysts, breast cancer, and hypothyroidism. Regarding water—are you aware that the water treatment managed by our local governments incorporates harmful chemicals into our drinking water, which may be carcinogenic, in an effort to prevent lead from leaching from very old pipes? This system is outdated because most of the population uses copper or plastic pipes, and lead has not been used in construction for more than 50 years. The anti-lead chemicals that are added can adversely affect our health. That is just the tip of the iceberg. Other examples of how our government prioritizes profit over the health of its citizens include allowing big pharma to price necessary medicines beyond the reach of the average person, all to enhance the stock value of these companies. The price of the same drug from the same manufacturer in other countries is significantly lower than for its own citizens. It should be the other way around. Even then, we are sicker and heavier than any other first-world country. Since you are not here to learn about politics, this serves as my segue into discussing the current denigration of the importance of vitamins and mineral supplements for our health. Just consider this: the average diet consists of processed foods lacking any nutritional value. Fast food contains additives that encourage us to eat more rather than less; portion sizes have increased, and the consumption of whole foods has declined over my lifetime. These are the most compelling reasons I have for taking nutritional supplements that we used to get from our diets before the 1960s. Since we know our patients are consuming chemicals that harm their health, my goal as a preventive medicine doctor, along with my nurses and nurse practitioners, is to keep our patients healthy, even when the government does not! You should heed our recommendations for specific supplements tailored to your individual symptoms and future health. Public health aims to make the group generically “healthier” by governmental standards, but medical care should prioritize our patients, striving for each individual to live a long, disease-free life. However, we face significant misinformation in this battle! Why don't mainstream medical groups recommend supplements? Their reasons include a focus on illness rather than wellness, making them more reactive than preventive in perspective. Additionally, most doctors lack training in nutrition and are often unhealthy and overweight. Another factor is that they primarily deal with medications and surgeries, which is what they typically recommend. In the twenty-first century, we all need supplemental nutrition. I don't have a single patient whom I believe is getting everything she needs from her diet without supplements. Supplements include minerals, vitamins, herbs, select foods, and animal glands that help maintain health and prevent illness by compensating for what modern food may lack. The supplements recommended by your BioBalance Health doctor and NPs are tailored to meet various individual needs, so please read about why we prescribe these supplements specifically for you. Supplements add to the nutrients that are missing from our modern diet. What health benefits can supplements offer? Act as alternatives to medication Enhance the activity of deficient hormones as people age Stimulate the production of hormones Provide the right form of a vitamin that you need and can't get from food Replace the minerals that are lacking in locally grown foods and water Supplements can replace the natural components of drinking water Supplements provide minerals and vitamins that prevent diseases like hypothyroidism. Supplemental animal glandulars are successful at reversing deficiencies that are not available in FDA-approved drugs. Preventive medicine physicians recommend supplements for various reasons: To improve your nutrition To mitigate genetic abnormalities such as elevated homocysteine levels. To counteract chemicals in the environment To treat medical conditions with no known medications To supply certain minerals that are deficient in your area of our country To treat abnormal hormone levels like low thyroid To treat certain symptoms and conditions that have no other solution To prevent future disease To stimulate the production of certain hormones to take the place of a prescription drug To detoxify your liver and gut To improve the absorption of nutrients in the gut To supply minerals and vitamins for osteoporosis To improve your mental health by improving the bacteria in your gut Assist in weight loss My goal is to educate people honestly about the tools they can use to maintain their health and extend their lifespan. A few words of caution should be added to complete this lesson. Please avoid using the cheapest vitamin or mineral supplement on Amazon unless your doctor has prescribed that specific brand. Many supplement companies are not “Medical Grade, ” meaning they are not tested and approved by agencies that ensure you receive an effective supplement with your purchase. Amazon has been found to sell vitamins packaged in reputable brand bottles that contain capsules with none of the expected supplements inside! BioBalance Health and BioBalance Skin provide tested medical-grade products, ensuring you take the right supplements for the desired effect. We cannot expect the same quality from most supplements available online. Avoid taking a supplement just because someone else is using it; you might not need it, or worse, it could have negative effects. Trust experts to evaluate what you truly need and what you can do without. When you have a consultation with a BioBalance doctor or NP for your yearly visit, please bring a list of your medications and supplements to discuss with them. Please do not call our RN or email your list for their opinion. Evaluating your needs and aligning them with your supplements requires time.

In Part 1, Lee tells Paul about his travels to watch pod favourites Greenland and San Marino live during their respective trips to Austria over the international window. How did he impact the course of the Arctic island's match against Slovenia from the sidelines? What insights did he glean from inside the Greenland camp? Why is the legendary Austrian striker Toni Polster so bitter towards San Marino? And what question did Lee ask SM coach Roberto Cevoli at the press conference following his side's double-digit defeat? There's more groundhopping tales to tell in Part 2 – but this time from the club game, because Lee has also been to watch Paks against Ferencváros in a Hungarian top-of-the-table clash in Budapest. What resemblance do Hungary's surprise league leaders bear to Athletic Bilbao of Spain? Why is their ultra group named 'Atomic Strike'? Why did thousands of Ferencváros fans change places in the stands five minutes into the match? And why might we not recommend live football in Hungary to groundhoppers? Ep. 77 - Many of you know Dallas PD's Joe King as the host of the compelling podcast “ATO: Bridging the Divide” which supports the mission of the Assist the Officer Foundation. Joe joined The Dallas Police Department in 1997, starting out in the Southeast Division. We talk about why he chose law enforcement, an early critical incident that sticks with him to this day, and how he quickly was drawn to street level narcotics and gangs which he worked for 20 years. On July 7th, 2016, everything changed for Joe, the Dallas Police Department and Dallas. That night, while DPD was working an anti-police protest, a shooter opened fire on officers working the protest, killing five, injuring nine other officers and two civilians. Those we lost are known as the Dallas Five, and they include one of Joe's close friends, Senior Corporal Lorne Ahrens. Joe recounts how the tragic events of that night unfolded with much of the killing horrifyingly playing out on live television. He details the SWAT response and the hours-long standoff that resulted in the shooter's being neutralized by a bomb on a remote-controlled bomb robot. The shooting was the deadliest incident for US law enforcement since 9/ 11, surpassing the March 2009 shootings of four officers in Oakland, CA, and the November 2009 murders of four officers just south of Seattle in Lakewood, WA known as the Lakewood Four. Their deaths were preceded by the ambush murder of Seattle Police Officer Timothy Brenton less than a month earlier. I lived in the greater Seattle area at the time and experienced the devastation of this tragedy. When the Dallas Five were killed, as I tell Joe, I may have been thousands of miles away, but my heart was with Dallas.Joe shares the impact on him and his fellow officers. His journey through grief and the cumulative effect of prior traumas led him to seek help through the Assist the Officer Foundation's confidential counseling.Joe has since joined the board of the Foundation which is a non-profit that not only provides trauma support but also financial assistance to first responders in need. Joe amplifies the mission with the “ATO: Bridging the Divide” podcast for which he interviews first responders from Dallas and around the country. They share their stories of trauma and resilience and how their agencies handle wellness.Joe also helped create and serves on Dallas PD's Wellness Unit which takes a very proactive role in caring for Dallas police officers. That Unit and ATO were both put to the test following the 2024 ambush murder of Officer Darron Burks who, only a few months out of the Academy, was shot and killed while in his patrol car. Joe says, “the Wellness Unit snapped into action that night. It was really a night-and-day response from 2016 to 2024 with critical incident response.”Thank you, Joe for all you have done and for all you do.I'd like to honor The Dallas Five for their service and for paying the ultimate sacrifice to protect the rest of us:Senior Corporal Lorne AhrensOfficer Patricio Enrique ZamarripaOfficer Michael Leslie KrolSgt. In this episode, host Beau Wigington chats with Alexander Purvis, Senior Welding & Automation Engineer at Novarc Technologies, about pairing TipTIG with a spool welding robot (SWR) to boost pipe-shop speed, consistency, and operator safety.Key Topics Covered:Learning curve & training: 1–1.5 hours to get comfortable for hands-on folks; standard onboarding is one week for three operators (3:1 trainer ratio).Fit-up tolerance: Built to handle real-shop conditions (nominal 3/32" root opening; workable from ~1/16" to heavy 1/8") without demanding “perfect” hi-lo.Low-maintenance mechanics: Air-powered manipulator (no hydraulics; sealed bearings) to cut downtime.Assist vs autonomy: AI reads variable root opening/hi-lo in real time and switches among seven root-save levels to keep the root on track.Process flexibility: Dual-torch MIG option (short-circuit root → flux-core fill/cap) and a TipTIG hot-wire TIG package for stainless/critical work.Where it fits: Prefab spools for mechanical contractors, expanding into oil & gas and nuclear work.Safety & ergonomics: Operate 4–5 ft from the arc, reduce fume exposure (especially on stainless/hex-chrome), and ditch the “bent-over all day” posture.Operator buy-in: Find a shop “champion,” then let them own the cell and rack up reps.Throughput story: One SWR operator reportedly laid ~158 in/day, edging five manual welders combined (~148–150 in).See it yourself: Demo-on-demand videos and an in-person Customer Experience Center (Houston).Memorable Quotes:“We don't expect a perfect fit up… the system accommodates that variance.”“Set it on a tack, press start, and the operator can walk away.”“He out-welded five manual operators,158 inches in a day.”Learn more about the SWR from Novarc TechnologiesWebsite - https://www.novarctech.com/ Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/novarctech/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/novarctech X - https://x.com/novarctech LinkedIn - https://ca.linkedin.com/company/novarc-technologies-inc- YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChc6v5nXWaUU5g9eakabdNw Connect with Beau WigingtonInstagram: @beaudiditwelding https://www.instagram.com/beaudiditwelding LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/beauwigington E-Mail : beauw@weld.com

https://teachhoops.com/ In a game often defined by spectacular dunks and buzzer-beating shots, the true magic of basketball often lies in the unselfish pass. It's the simple act of giving up a good shot for a great one that elevates a team from a collection of talented individuals to a cohesive, unstoppable force. On the basketball court, sharing the ball is more than just a gesture of sportsmanship—it's a fundamental strategy for success. When players move the ball with purpose and look for the open teammate, it creates a rhythm and flow that is difficult for a defense to counter. The constant movement of the ball forces the opposing team to shift and react, often leading to defensive breakdowns and open looks for a teammate. This fluid style of play not only leads to higher-percentage shots but also builds trust and chemistry among players. When a player knows that their teammate will make the extra pass, it encourages them to cut harder, set better screens, and move with more intention, knowing their effort will be rewarded. Beyond the tactical advantages, a team that shares the ball also demonstrates a culture of trust and selflessness. It shows that no single player is more important than the collective goal of winning. When the ball is zipping around the court, it's a sign that players are actively looking to involve their teammates and celebrate their success. This not only keeps everyone engaged and motivated but also makes the game more enjoyable to play. Ultimately, a team with a strong emphasis on sharing the ball is a team that understands the power of collaboration, turning individual skill into a unified, dominant force that is far greater than the sum of its parts. When neurodiverse students are prepared, their college experience will be more successful and peaceful, and they will thrive. Navigating the transition to college can be a unique challenge for neurodiverse students and their families. Preparing both parents and students for this journey can make all the difference. Understanding Neurodiversity Neurodiversity acknowledges that every brain works differently, a natural human variation. Conditions like ADHD, autism, and anxiety fall under this category, demanding tailored support. Neurodiverse students, bright in their own right, often process information at unique speeds and benefit from specific learning strategies. The Importance of Advocacy and Support Parents must become staunch advocates for their neurodiverse students. Explore college resources like counseling and disability services. Actively seek out accommodations for students - provide detailed IEP or 504 plans. The more specific, the better. In addition, universities often offer free psychological counseling and support groups for neurodiverse students. Ensure your child is aware of the resources available to them and encourage them to use them. This proactive approach can significantly impact your child's success and help them thrive. Creating a Structured Environment At home or on campus, establish a dedicated study space to minimize distractions and promote focus. Encourage the use of tools like white noise machines, noise-canceling headphones, and calendars. Assist in scheduling academic and leisure activities, emphasizing balance between work and self-care. Physical movement is crucial—encourage activities in campus gyms or outdoor exercises. Transition Strategies for Parents Parents should assist with campus and online technology walkthroughs to become familiar with the systems they will be using for school. Another strategy to help neurodiverse students is to create a personalized "all about me" letter for instructors. Doing so will help manage professor expectations without stress. Consistent parental involvement and understanding can ease the transition and foster independence. Empowering Neurodiverse Success A little preparation can transform the college experience for neurodiverse students. By advocating, preparing, and supporting your child, you are setting them up for a successful transition. Engage with their journey every step of the way. The right strategies can ensure that neurodiverse students thrive in their college environment. Specific for moms Moms, it is imperative that you work to regulate your nervous system to provide adequate responses and don't overreact when your child is in need. The transition to college can be stressful and emotional, and your children will need your support. The calmer you are, the less emotional chaos you will experience with your child.
