Theater-maker Madeline Wall looks forward to the Greenway Glow Arts Festival on Saturday. Art installations and performers will be spread out over two dozen stops along a 5-mile stretch of Minneapolis’ Midtown Greenway. Masks are required and social distancing members will be in place, with no more than 25 people allowed to congregate at one time by a single art installation. The free outdoor event runs from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. VIP passes help raise funds for the Midtown Greenway. VIP members also may attend virtually. Playwright Tyler Mills of Minneapolis enjoys the podcast “Good Luck, High Five” run by two Minnesota improvisors, Meghan Wolff and Maria Bartholdi. In the weekly podcast, the two friends discuss the digital card game, Magic: the Gathering, and then digress. Mills says they set a welcoming tone, and their podcast helps increase the representation of women in the online community. He also likes the connections made between the specific world and what is going on outside of it. “One of the jokes in the Magic community is that part of what makes Magic: the Gathering special is ‘the gathering,’ and that gathering has not been possible” during a pandemic, Mills said. “It’s nice to have a place like a podcast to feel like you are interacting with people.” Courtesy of Derek Hostetler Untitled, blown glass art by Derek Hostetler. Musician and beginning glass-maker Janis Froehlig of Mendota appreciates the glass creations of Derek Hostetler. His whimsical, abstract work involves a great deal of color and unique combinations of shapes, and Froelich says she finds looking at Hostetler’s work to be a balm in the current political and pandemic environment. These creations are not designed to serve an everyday purpose, such as a vase or bowl. “Although bits of his pieces would probably hold water,” Froelich says, “they were not intended to hold anything except your attention. And his technique is stunning.” Hostetler’s work is on display at the Foci Minnesota Center for Glass Arts in Minneapolis, where he teaches.
In this podcast, I talk to Meghan Wolf and Maria Bartholdi of Good Luck, High Five.

As Vince and Elliot prep for their 100th episode, a couple of their distant relatives fill in to host. One is their far-removed and illegitimate British cousin Ash Picklicker (Lupe Murazsewski), and the other is a cyborg with the D.N.A. of Rand McNally's bastard child Tube McNally called Robot Trying to Understand Humanity Through the Lens of People, or simply, Ro.T.U.H.T.L.o.P (Maria Bartholdi). Ash and Ro.T.U.H.T.L.o.P are in Abra, NM. This Land of Enchantment town is home to the most practicing doctors of alternative medicine—including, but not limited to, enchantment. Talking with Ash is faith healer Ben Whiskin (Vince Koci) and bayou witch doctor Voodoo Daddy (Elliot Matson).

Live from Randcon 2016, Elliot and Vince McNally play host to a host of guests at the event in Rudyard's Hill, GA. The town is the "it" place for some of the country's leading conventions, and is always the home to RandCon. First, the boys talk to Security Officer Cameron Saskanilla (Lupe Muraszewski) about convention safety and proprietor of the "Wipe Booth", Junk (Maria Bartholdi), about her involvement at RandCon. Next, Vince and Elliot field a few questions from the devoted hoards of fans. Following the Q&A, the brothers stop by the concessions stands to hear from food purveyors like Alan Veiss (Lupe Muraszewski), the "Road Food" Lady (Maria Bartholdi) and our old pals Dunt and Emmett (Maria Bartholdi and Lupe Muraszewski). The boys head out into the convention center for 5 Didja Know facts from attendees before wrapping it all up in a nice farewell and another RandCon in the record books.
Vince and Elliot McNally are magically whisked away to Xavier, MT this week. It's the home of Disney Place, the lesser known wing of the Disney amusement parks family which was abandoned partway through construction. Talking with the brothers is one of the park's character actors—known for playing Bambi's mom—Clarissa Shard (Maria Bartholdi).

She talks about why the thought of being normal always terrified her. Maria also talks about dealing with anxiety, why she'c comfortable being in control and deciding in early adulthood to have a stable income and reliable job while still pursuing her weird interests. Plus, Maria shares her game of trying to think of the oddest thing you could say to a stranger that would make them have to leave the room.
It's game on this week as Vince and Elliot McNally travel to the home of America's only surviving Pog factory, Bobbinsdale, NH. They sit down with expertly trained, world champion POG coach, Joan Crawford—no relation (Maria Bartholdi).
