Frenchie Davis is one of the most phenomenal vocalists today and has an equally phenomenal array of talents. She is Our American Idol, she is The outspoken Voice of her truth, which we on the show love her for. Frenchie is known for her vocal talents which will make you jump right out of your seat as well as her acting on Broadway in "Rent" and has starred in Aint Misbehaving, was the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella, but my (JaVonne's) favorite was when she starred along side Miche Braden, as Mahalia Jackson! WheW LOVED IT! Frenchie is also a very vocal and outspoken advocate for human rights and don't give a damn who don't like it! She stands up for what she believes in and aint about to fall for nobody's crap! Join us as we welcome her to Brunch in the Basement with JaVonne & Terez

Miche Braden a special entertainer from the motor city joins JaVonne & Terez in the basement today for music and chit chat. Miche is a musical genious, composer, instrumentalist, songstress and actress who has her own uncomparable style. Known for the one woman show "The Devil's Music" as well as many other off Broadway and international shows. Miche wrote the song, "I Am" which is the song known across the country as the anthem for the Unity Fellowship Church Movement. Miche is a friend of the show and it's always a blast whenever she's in the house. Also, Gregg Douglass stops by to chat about the event of the year! Miss a show...Miss a lot!
Miche Braden, also known as Ms. Miche, is a woman so filled with talent and versatility that it can't be easily described. In her voice lies the very essence of what we call "soul music" simply because it comes from the soul. Miche is featured on house music tracks, jazz cds, blues, and actually in all genres of music. Motown is not the only amazing music born in Detroit! Ms. Miche was the mystical minister of music for the Unity Church Movement and wrote the song that is or at least should be the anthem, "I Am" which can be found on her wonderful cd "Diva Out Of Bounds." Miche co-wrote and stars in the Devil's Music, a one woman play about the life of Bessie Smith, and she has acted in numerous other plays and shows. She is an all around talent and a dear friend and musical mentor. We are excited to have her join us here for Brunch in the Basement with JaVonne & Tere
Multitalented, musical genius Miche Braden joins us today for Brunch In The Basement With JaVonne to share some of her favorite music with us. Miche is a singer, song writer, musician, actress, who has done it all with a musical ear that is unmatched. She has toured the one woman play "The Devil's Music" the life and times of Bessie Smith which allows you to live an experience of being in the presence of Bessie herself. Miche is the musical mentor to many, including yours truly. So, sit back and enjoy...you might learn a thing or two in the process!
Most people think that "burlesque" means female strippers walking a runway to bump and grind beat. But that only fits the form in its declining years. At its best, burlesque was a rich source of music and comedy that kept America, audiences laughing from 1840 through the 1960s. Some sources try to wrap burlesque in a mantle of pseudo-intellectual respectability. Yes, it involved transgressive comedy and songs, but the primary attraction of burlesque was sex . . in the form of ribald humor and immodestly dressed women. Although many dismissed burlesque as the tail-end of show business, its influence reaches through the development of popular entertainment into the present.
