This week on Black on Black Cinema, the crew returns to discuss the 1967 film, "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner." The film follows Joanna Drayton (Katharine Houghton), a free-thinking white woman, and black doctor John Prentice (Sidney Poitier) becoming engaged, afterwards, they travel to San Francisco to meet her parents. Matt Drayton (Spencer Tracy) and his wife Christina (Katharine Hepburn) are wealthy liberals who must confront the latent racism the coming marriage arouses. Also attending the Draytons' dinner are Prentice's parents (Roy E. Glenn Sr., Beah Richards), who vehemently disapprove of the relationship.

It's the question we've all (probably) asked ourselves at one time or another... if you were having a Doctor Who dinner party, who would you invite? This week, Kenny, David and Tom are out at the Crystal Bucephalus for dinner, and using a time scoop, are bringing a living Doctor Who guest to join them, as well as someone who's deceased, and tapping into the Land of Fiction to bring someone from the Doctor Who universe to join them. But who will choose who?
The godly Abraham hosts 3 traveling strangers. When one of the strangers' statements echoed the promise of God, that Abraham and Sarah will have a son, Sarah laughed to herself in disbelief but the stranger heard her. That stranger was the Lord. Haha Sarah...haha.
To put it mildly, Jesus and the Pharisees had a complicated relationship. They're famous for their fights, but they often shared meals together. Jesus, however, could be a difficult dinner guest. He refused to follow etiquette and protocol, sometimes insulting the Pharisees to their face. At this dinner with the Pharisees, Jesus upsets the apple cart once more as he proclaims, “Guess who's going for dinner!” This podcast is the sermon portion of our service.

Guess who's coming to Europe? On March 10th, 2017 The Chad and Cheese launched our first show. Over the years, Joel and I have focused heavily on the US market while trying our best to find relevant and smart global stories and as our global base of loyal listeners grew we started having discussions around a more European-based show, but we needed someone embedded in the European market to bring that certain je ne sais quoi, but most of all someone who could provide great European insights to our dumb American opinions.
On this exciting episode of The Cave Boat, the Captain lures four (YES FOUR) former State of California technology executives aboard his virtual cruise ship for a fireside chat over dinner on the fine evening of 5/17/2021 covering a variety of thought provoking topics. The episode gets into: · The Glory Years of Their State Service Careers (Highs) · Insights into some of the lows (voluntary red meat) · Pandemic Discussion: What we all learned · What Government Still Needs To Get Better At · When they all actually retire what they look forward to doing or not doing · Words of Wisdom This episode is filled with jokes (a hearse pulling a U-Haul???), reminiscing, honest commentary and rich insights from leaders that have not only talked the talk, BUT ALSO walked the walk, mentoring insights and heartfelt perspectives upon reflecting on the many stops along the way on their journeys. Current or aspiring CIOs and leaders should give this episode a listen! And remember, relationships matter, have fun and that leaders are people too! In our previous study, we began looking at Jesus’ invitation to Matthew to follow him, but we noticed this curious fact, the first thing Matthew did was to invite Jesus to his home, and Jesus accepted! We might say that Jesus followed Matthew into his world so that Matthew would follow Jesus into his.
It was a world of injustice, but it was also a world that Jesus had come to heal and his message of the kingdom of God was a message for all – for the wretched and the rich, for the powerful and the poor.

In what is undoubtedly the worst episode of Season 2, the Ventures head to the White House for a ceremony honoring Bud Manstrong, who apparently heroically saved humanity while the space station Gargantua-1 crashed into Earth. While there, we get tired jokes about presidents, learn the metaphysics of Ghost Lincoln, and get misled about the potential for a Manchurian Candidate twist. Guess Who’s Coming For Dinner - Pastor Earl McClellan 2 Samuel 4:4 (Jonathan son of Saul had a son who was lame in both feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up and fled, but as she hurried to leave, he fell and became disabled. His name was Mephibosheth.) (NIV) 2 Samuel 9:1 David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” (NIV) 2 Samuel 9:2 Now there was a servant of Saul’s household named Ziba. They summoned him to appear before David, and the king said to him, “Are you Ziba?” “At your service,” he replied. (NIV) 2 Samuel 9:3 The king asked, “Is there no one still alive from the house of Saul to whom I can show God’s kindness?” Ziba answered the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan; he is lame in both feet.” (NIV) Romans 2:4 “… God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance” (NIV) 2 Samuel 9:4 “Where is he?” the king asked. Ziba answered, “He is at the house of Makir son of Ammiel in Lo Debar.” (NIV) Lo Debar = No thing He’s in the middle of nowhere 2 Samuel 9:5 So King David had him brought from Lo Debar, from the house of Makir son of Ammiel. (NIV) Luke 14:21-23 “The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’ 22 “ ‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’ 23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. (NIV) God isn’t intimidated by the depth of your sin and shame because He understands the breadth of His glory and goodness 2 Samuel 9:6-8 When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he bowed down to pay him honor. David said, “Mephibosheth!” “At your service,” he replied. 7 “Don’t be afraid,” David said to him, “for I will surely show you kindness for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the land that belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will always eat at my table.” 8 Mephibosheth bowed down and said, “What is your servant, that you should notice a dead dog like me?” (NIV) Who’s welcome at the king's table? Hagioscope = Leper window Is this your table or the King’s table? Are you willing to make room at the table of the king? 2 Samuel 9:11b “... sat like one of the king's sons.” (NIV) Who brought him to the table?
