Graduating is a major milestone, but stepping into a new season of life can bring uncertainty, pressure, and big decisions. As followers of Christ, it's crucial to seek God's direction and remember that our identity is rooted in Him—not in our careers, achievements, or the expectations of the world. In today's episode, we talk about how new graduates can stay grounded in their faith, trust God's plan, and find confidence in His calling. Join Pastor Jeff Reynolds, along with guests Alex Watkins, Lauren Parish, TJ Renfro, and David Tooley as they share biblical encouragement, personal stories, and practical wisdom for navigating life after graduation with Christ at the center. --- This episode of The Beyond Sunday Podcast expands upon the sermon “For the Joy | Hebrews 12:1–3.” This sermon encourages our grads to stay strong in their faith journey by letting go of sin and anything that holds them back. Last month, the unemployment rate for recent college grads surged to nearly 6 percent. Compared to the overall economy's jobless rate, the unemployment rate for recent grads is higher now than in any month on record, going back at least four decades. Business school grads are struggling, too. Last year, The Wall Street Journal reported that elite MBA programs saw that their most recent classes had "worse job-placement outcomes last year than any other in recent memory." What's going on? Today's guest is David Deming, an economist at Harvard who studies education and the future of work. We walk through some plain-Jane theories about the weakening labor market for young college grads. But then, as you'll hear, the conversation expands to consider the coming storm of AI—and how artificial intelligence is changing education and the workforce for young people. Stanford University has long been a feeder for the neighboring tech industry with graduates often heading to a brand name of Silicon Valley. But the times, they are a-changin’, according to writer Jasmine Sun. She reported recently for the San Francisco Standard that building tech for the military has become cool on campus. One student, Divya, said her “most effective and moral friends are now working for Palantir.” Marketplace’s Meghan McCarty Carino spoke with Sun about how this shift compares to when she attended Stanford in the late 2010s.
