Stanford University has long been a feeder for the neighboring tech industry with graduates often heading to a brand name of Silicon Valley. One student, Divya, said her “most effective and moral friends are now working for Palantir.” Marketplace’s Meghan McCarty Carino spoke with Sun about how this shift compares to when she attended Stanford in the late 2010s.

Hunter, a Collins Hill alum and Heisman Trophy favorite, is up for the Bednarik, Biletnikoff, and Maxwell Awards, showcasing his standout performances as a wide receiver and defensive back at Colorado, where he's amassed 82 catches, 1,036 yards, 11 TDs, three interceptions, and 31 tackles. Middle and high schools will pilot from Jan. 6 to 31, while elementary schools participate Jan. 13 to Feb. 7. The initiative aims to enhance student safety by deterring prohibited items, with a final decision on district-wide use expected by March 3, 2025. The program follows a school shooting at Apalachee High, which raised safety concerns. Participating students will receive free clear backpacks, with allowances for lunch boxes, pencil pouches, purses, and other bags. Principals will provide further details in December. STORY 3: Rivian lands federal loan to restart Georgia EV plant Rivian secured a nearly $6 billion federal loan to restart construction of a $5 billion EV and battery plant in Georgia, which faced doubts earlier this year over its future. “We ended up with over 2,000 recruiting firms buying our training model. But after 2 years, I was just bored out of my mind! Once a month we were doing the exact same 5-day training. I missed doing the executive searches myself. That's just what my passion was, that's what I loved doing and where my talent was. So, we ended up re-acquiring our old company. I think one of the goals every human should have is to find something they sincerely love doing, and then doing it well enough that they can make a living from it. I found that! I found that in the executive search business.” Gene Rice's business career includes working for a Fortune 100 firm–where he was promoted 5 times in 7 years–to co-founding Rice Cohen International, a successful executive search firm. He has placed over 1,000 C-level executives while mentoring many young professionals. In 2008, Gene and his wife started a nonprofit charity, The Plant a Seed Inspire a Dream Foundation, which has enabled over 800 children from low-income households to pursue their passions. Gene and his daughter, a teacher, have recently co-authored the book “Grad to Grown-Up.”

We've talked a lot on this podcast about the bed and it's symbolism in feng shui. There's a reason for that — if we're lucky, we'll spend a third of our life in bed and from a feng shui perspective, it's one of the simplest and most effective places to start when realigning the qi of our homes. From clearing space around your bed to the grounding stability of a headboard, proper bed placement is both an easy and profound way to begin creating a home in which the qi can flow freely to offer inspiration and peace. For our 300th (!!!) episode we are taking the longview on proper bed placement. What we talk about in this episode:-The command position-Why we always want to make sure that our feet are not facing the door when in bed-Creating space on both sides of the bed to allow a balance of yin and yang-Which walls to place your bed against and which to avoidand much more! Thanks so much for listening to the Holistic Spaces Podcast brought to you by Mindful Design Feng Shui School!-Sign up for our newsletter for exclusive complimentary special workshops and offers for our newsletter subscribers ONLY! -Make sure you're following us on Instagram for feng shui tips and live Q&A's.-Learn about our courses and certification on our website at: Mindful Design School.-Check out our older episodes on our Holistic Spaces Podcast archive.MORE QUESTIONSHire one of our Mindful design school Grads for a 1-1 consultation. Andy and Brendan return on a Victory Monday to recap a bevy of fall golf tournaments this weekend. Andy is fired up about Caleb Williams and the Bears' big win against the lowly Panthers during the Swag Sports Minute, while Brendan is also claiming a Victory Monday as his hometown Commanders beat another unnamed NFL team on Sunday afternoon. The Golf Minutes begin at the Dunhill Links, where friend of the show Nicolas Colsaerts finished second to Tyrrell Hatton. They discuss a strong weekend from Colsaerts, Tyrrell Hatton's development as a player, and his current standing in the game, and whether Pro-Ams should be barred from existence. Big Shot Bob MacIntyre adds some fun to this episode with his idea to "blow up" the Road Hole at the Old Course, which Andy and Brendan debate the merits of. Their attention then turns to the Sanderson, which announced that its title sponsor will return for one more round in 2025! The two wonder if the Country Club of Jackson is the most generic golf course on the PGA Tour, lament about the Golf Channel coverage of the Sunday finish, and decide that players should only get two unsuccessful TIO-related challenges per event after Beau Hossler's repeated calls for a drop on Sunday. The Korn Ferry Tour finals are up next for a recap, with some late drama around the Top 30 in the seasonlong race with Alistair Docherty being pushed out of the promotion zone on the final putt of the tournament. Andy and Brendan then touch on the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship, where winner Wenyi Ding has decided to take his DP World Tour card rather than retain his amateur status. Producer PJ then sums up a busy Furyk & Friends weekend, with a playoff finish, Brad Dalke birdies on the broadcast, and a Tim Herron technological innovation for the ages.
