Pastor Ethan begins our new teaching series, Breakthrough.
Pastor Ethan looks back over 2025, reflecting on what God has taught him as he was teaching us.
Pastor Ethan continues our Advent series with a reminder that when Jesus rescues our hearts, He also rescues our hands as we can let go of things that are his.
In this sermon, “Good Me vs. Bad Me,” we explore the inner conflict every believer knows—the gap between wanting to do what's right and repeatedly doing what's wrong. In Romans 7, we find how God's law exposes sin without empowering us to defeat it, revealing a war between the flesh and the Spirit that continues even after salvation. Rather than hiding the struggle, Paul names it honestly and points us toward the only hope for real change—not willpower, but deliverance through Jesus Christ. This sermon reframes sanctification not as instant victory, but as a daily battle where God uses difficulty itself to form us into the likeness of Christ.__The Bridge Church exists to join God in multiplying his kingdom in Wilmington and the world. For more information on The Bridge Church, please visit https://thebridgeilm.com/Next Steps: https://thebridgeilm.churchcenter.com/people/forms/302918If you feel led, give online by clicking here: https://www.thebridgeilm.com/giveSTAY CONNECTEDInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebridgeilm/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheBridgeILMEvents Page: https://thebridgeilm.churchcenter.com/registrations/events
Pastor Ethan continues our Advent series with a reminder that Jesus has brought us from sin to forgiveness.
Romans 6 reminds us that real change doesn't start with trying harder—it starts with believing what God already says is true about us. Sin doesn't get to call the shots anymore, but we still decide each day where we'll place our hearts, our habits, and our hopes. And when we choose to present ourselves to God, something powerful happens: grace begins to reshape us from the inside out. In Christ, we're not just forgiven—we're set free from sin's old mastery and empowered to live a new kind of life that actually bears the fruit we've always longed for.__The Bridge Church exists to join God in multiplying his kingdom in Wilmington and the world. For more information on The Bridge Church, please visit https://thebridgeilm.com/Next Steps: https://thebridgeilm.churchcenter.com/people/forms/302918If you feel led, give online by clicking here: https://www.thebridgeilm.com/giveSTAY CONNECTEDInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebridgeilm/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheBridgeILMEvents Page: https://thebridgeilm.churchcenter.com/registrations/events
Pastor Ethan begins our new teaching series, Advent.
Pastor Ethan begins our Advent series, The Rescue! Our previous series in Colossians taught us that God "has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of the Son he loves". Our Advent series spins right out of that, reminding us that Jesus is The Rescue.
In Romans 6, Paul helps us understand this critical truth: in order to change, grow, and experience a gospel-centered life, you must change the way you see yourself. You are no longer defined by what you have done or what has been done to you. You are now in Christ. Your identity is rooted in what Christ has done and what He has done to you. If you can change your thinking, you can transform your living. The old you is gone—crucified with Christ. The new you has come—raised with Christ. So put off the old self and refuse to let it have any claim on you. It's time to start living the new life that is already yours in Him. If you've ever wondered why Christians make such a big deal about Jesus, Romans 5 gives the answer: everything in your life and eternity depends on Him. Paul shows that we are all born connected to Adam's failure, but through faith we can be transferred into Christ's life-giving victory. This sermon—It's All About Jesus—will show why the gospel is not about what you can do for God, but what Jesus has already done for you.__The Bridge Church exists to join God in multiplying his kingdom in Wilmington and the world. For more information on The Bridge Church, please visit https://thebridgeilm.com/Next Steps: https://thebridgeilm.churchcenter.com/people/forms/302918If you feel led, give online by clicking here: https://www.thebridgeilm.com/giveSTAY CONNECTEDInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thebridgeilm/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheBridgeILMEvents Page: https://thebridgeilm.churchcenter.com/registrations/events
Pastor Ethan continues our teaching series, Hearers & Doers.
Pastor Ethan continues our series in Colossians with a message about conversations with God and with other people.
Romans 5 shows us that justification isn't just a doctrine—it's the turning point that ends our war with God and ushers us into peace, grace, and hope. Beginning with a story of someone still fighting after the battle was over, we'll see how many believers continue striving as if God is still against them. Confidence in Chaos reveals the heart of the gospel: Christ has ended the conflict, credited us with righteousness, and secured a hope that suffering can't shake.__The Bridge Church exists to join God in multiplying his kingdom in Wilmington and the world. Life doesn't stop handing out trials—but James invites us to see them differently. He begins his letter with four surprising words: “Count it all joy.” Not because suffering feels good, but because endurance through trials produces something lasting: a deeper, steadier faith. Joy, James says, isn't tied to circumstances—it's rooted in the confidence that God is at work in every situation, shaping us into who we were meant to be. In this episode, Pastors Whit George and Ethan Vanse unpack James 1:2–12 and the true meaning of faith, doubt, and joy through endurance.
