As we wrap up our series, The Spirit Filled Church, Pastor Bob explores how to finish well in our spiritual journey, drawing from Acts 20 and the Apostle Paul's emotional farewell to the Ephesians, emphasizing the importance of holding to the Gospel, remaining faithful through life's challenges, protecting the truth, and living generously for a lasting legacy.
By Bart Bornhorst - As we leave behind the fall Holy Days and approach the coldness of winter, we are called to stay fervent in our spiritual walk towards the Kingdom of God. This sermon looks at three key areas to help us stay motivated and watchful.

Where does your treasure live? If someone followed your calendar, your bank account, or your social feed—what would they say matters most to you? In Week 2 of our Generous Living series, Pastor Vicki takes us to Matthew 25 and the Parable of the Talents to ask a vital question: What are we doing with what God has entrusted to us? Watch the full worship service video below or listen to the sermon audio player to experience the full message. ⸻ What We Treasure, We Multiply Jesus often taught in parables, and the one in Matthew 25:14–30 is especially provocative: a master entrusts his wealth to three servants before leaving on a long journey. When he returns, he wants to know what they've done with it. Here's what we learned from Pastor Vicki's message: • Everything belongs to God. The gold, the servants, the very breath in our lungs—it all comes from the Master. Our culture loves the idea of being independent, self-made, or self-owned. But in God's kingdom, we're stewards, not owners. • God expects spiritual profit. This parable isn't just about money. It's about using your time, energy, gifts, and influence for God's purposes. Pastor Vicki challenged us: “We are created to multiply God's impact through what we've been given.” • Fear is not a faithful excuse. The third servant buried the money out of fear. He didn't lose it—but he also didn't use it. Fear of failure or scarcity can paralyze us spiritually. But the kingdom of God calls for bold, faithful living, even in risk. ⸻ Faithful Stewardship Starts with Surrender We can't multiply what we're still clinging to. The first step in living generously is surrendering ownership back to God. That means asking: “What have I been given, and how can I use it for God's glory?” Whether it's your finances, your free time, your talents, or your relationships—God's looking not for perfection, but participation. You don't have to do everything. Just something. Faithfully. If you're ready to take your next step, join a Group or explore ways to serve at New Hope this season. ⸻ Know Jesus. Grow Faith. Go Multiply. This parable echoes New Hope's mission: Know Jesus. Grow Faith. Go Multiply. We want to be a church that multiplies disciples by living generously and faithfully with everything God has placed in our hands.

6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

Paradise Baptist Church is one of Atlanta’s oldest historically Black churches – established in 1865, just after the Civil War. It grew out of a community Sunday School founded by then 12-year-old Dinah Watts Pace. Now, nearly two centuries later, the church is celebrating 160 years of faith, community, education, and economic development. Originally located in Atlanta’s Summerhill neighborhood and now in Grove Park, Paradise has remained a community cornerstone throughout its history. For a special audio documentary, “Closer Look” host Rose Scott and the team visited the church, which now sits at the intersection of Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway and Matilda Place in northwest Atlanta. Scott talks with church leaders about the church’s historical impact, its evolving role in the community, and how its legacy informs a forward-looking mission grounded in service, growth, and faith. Guests included: Dr. Charles A. Harper III, Paradise’s lead pastor Rev. S. Tarnace Watkins, Sr., executive pastor of Paradise Fred Stevens, consultant-in-residence with the Paradise Community Development Center, and Dr. Arletta Brinson, a lifelong member of the church, executive director of the Paradise Community Development Center, and co-chair of the church’s 160th anniversarySee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Joseph is falsely accused and thrown into prison. While there, he is just as faithful and fruitful as he was in the house of Potiphar. We all face days of waiting and unknowns. Can we be just a faithful in our lives, as Joseph was in his?
I had an incredible conversation with Cynthia Moe-Lobeda about her book Building a Moral Economy (the first in a six-book series!). We dug into how most Christians experience a profound disconnect between their faith and their economic lives—knowing intellectually that our consumer choices connect us to exploitation and ecological destruction, but feeling powerless to change systems that seem inevitable. Cynthia shared her own journey from despair to action, grounded in a mystical encounter that helped her hold both grief and hope simultaneously. She laid out a compelling vision for what a moral economy actually looks like: ecological, equitable, and democratic—three criteria that radically challenge financialized capitalism. The heart of our conversation was her framework of "10 fingers on the hands of healing change"—specific forms of action like living lightly, moving money, changing rules, and building a bigger "we." What moved me most was her insistence that our current economy isn't inevitable; it was built by human decisions and can be rebuilt differently. She reminded us that we're not isolated moral agents but a "we"—the body of Christ with diverse gifts for different kinds of action. If you've ever felt torn between providing for your family and the knowledge that our prosperity is connected to the crucified people of our world, this conversation offers a path forward rooted in resurrection faith and practical action. Dr. Cynthia Moe-Lobeda is a Lutheran theologian, ethicist, and author who has dedicated her career to exploring the intersection of faith, economics, and justice. Her work focuses on building what she calls "economies for life"—economic systems that are ecological, equitable, and democratic. She is the author of Resisting Structural Evil and Building a Moral Economy. With decades of experience in ecumenical work and student ministry, Cynthia brings both academic rigor and pastoral wisdom to her writing, grounded in her conviction that the current economic system is not inevitable but can be transformed through collective action. Work is something we all spend much of our lives doing, yet it's easy to either despise it as a burden or idolize it as our identity. God's Word shows us a better way: work is worship when done with integrity, justice, and dependence on Jesus. Whether you're in an office, on a job site, in a classroom, or at home, your daily labour is part of God's design and calling. We'll see how the gospel redeems our view of work, freeing us from both idleness and workaholism, and giving us the joy of serving Christ in the ordinary routines of life.

In a society where quick fixes and instant gratification dominate, are we settling for the same thing in our approach to sermons? In this episode, Pastor Mike Chaddick invites us to move beyond “fast food preaching” toward preparing and serving meals that are both desirable and deeply nourishing.Recorded live at the Expositors Collective training event in Pleasanton, CA (May 2024), Mike unpacks the inductive Bible study method through its three steps: observation, interpretation, and application. He shows how careful attention to language, grammar, genre, and historical setting equips preachers and Bible teachers to handle the text responsibly and preach with gospel-centred conviction.Listeners will also benefit from Mike's practical encouragement to use multiple translations, ask questions on behalf of their audience, and keep the good news of Jesus at the heart of every message. Whether you're preparing your first Bible study or refining your preaching after decades of experience, this session offers a simple yet profound roadmap for teaching God's Word faithfully.About Mike ChaddickPastor Mike Chaddick is the senior pastor of Image Church in San Juan Capistrano, CA, and a regular contributor to the live radio show Pastors Perspective on KWAVE 107.9FM. A follow up address from Pastor Josh on how believers can faithfully navigate this cultural moment. Three Main Points: 1. Acknowledge the grief of living in a broken world. 2. Recognize that we must faithfully engage the culture. 3. Begin to engage each other with humility. Six Principles for Cultural Engagement: 1. We are to seek the peace of Babylon. (Jeremiah 29) 2. We are called to embody the gospel, not just recite it. 3. We have to engage in humility even in hostile places (Acts 17) 4. Remember we are engaging with the spiritually blind. 5. The world hates Jesus; therefore, it will hate us. (John 15:18) 6. What Satan meant for evil, God will work for good. (Genesis 50:20, Romans 8:28) Word of Exhortation for the Church: 1. Words can murder; don't let your words turn to bullets. 2. Judgmental expectations are divisive. 3. Jesus must increase and we must decrease; HE unifies his church. 4. Jesus must be the flame of revival.

From Sunday 7 September 2025, Brent Thornton has a message from the book of 2 Chronicles titled "Finishing Faithfully" 2 Chronicles 14-16fbcmw.org
In this sermon, Pastor Jared unpacks what every believer needs for their faith to endure. Drawing from the Apostle Paul's words to Timothy, we are challenged to faithfully apply this same wisdom in our lives today.
Today's Promise: 1 Thessalonians 5:24 When He makes a promise, He keeps it. When He entered into a covenant with His people, He kept it. God is faithful to accomplish His Word in your life. God never teases you. He doesn't place a call in your life and then refuses to bring it about. No matter what God has called you to do, He will be faithful to accomplish it in your life. What is the call God has placed in your life? Are you allowing Him to do it? Are you releasing your life into the faithful hands of God?
August 31, 2025 We need to bear the disgrace that comes from following Christ. We need to believe God’s promises in dark times. People of faith are those who trust in the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, and show that faith in their obedience. Scripture: Hebrews 13:1-16

Are you struggling to find hope in suffering? In Philippians, Paul gives us an example of how to rejoice through trials. He tells us that pain is God's present to help us grow in God's presence.Three reasons to rejoice in the Lord even when you suffer…It's through suffering faithfully that we grow in our dependency. It's through suffering faithfully that we bring God glory. It's through suffering faithfully that we are being promoted eternally. When you focus on the prize of Jesus, you can rejoice through trials and find the strength and hope to carry on.Connect with us on Social Media ↴Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/abundantlifels/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/abundantlifels Connect with Pastor Phil ↴Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/PhilHopperKCInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/philhopper_kc/Web: https://livingproof.co/resources/books/ Learn more about the A-Life Discipleship Journey: https://alife.livingproof.co/ More information on our sermons: https://livingproof.co/sermons/Do you want to see your life changed by Jesus?
