Is The Garage Bikes and Brews a bike shop first, or a brewery first? If you ask co-owner Stephanie Johnson, the answer is: both. Stephanie is a River Falls native who married a fellow River Falls native, Matt. The duo co-own The Garage, which opened in 2020 and is set to celebrate its fifth anniversary. The space offers a unique vibe where visitors can enjoy a beer — brewed by Stephanie and Matt's son Ellis — while also watching bikes get fixed behind the bar. On this episode of St. Croix Stories, Stephanie shares more about how a wrist injury eventually fueled her passion for cycling as an adult, which ultimately became a family business. She also talks about the challenges of opening The Garage during the pandemic, discusses the music scene hosted at The Garage, and shares her favorite places to ride her bike in the St. Croix Valley. The Garage is also participating in the Bluegrass, Bourbon & Brews Festival in River Falls as a host venue, and will be hosting many other musical acts throughout the summer. Send us a textIn this episode of the SheClicks Women in Photography Podcast, Angela Nicholson chats with Stephanie Johnson, a self-taught photographic artist renowned for her mastery of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and multiple exposure techniques. Stephanie is the founder of the ICM Photography Magazine, a digital publication dedicated to showcasing creative work, and she also leads workshops across the UK and US. Stephanie's journey into photography began 30 years ago with a film SLR in Okinawa, Japan, but it wasn't until a transformative trip to Ireland in 2015 that she rediscovered her passion. Following a challenging period in her personal life, Stephanie turned to photography to reconnect with her creative self. It was during this time that she discovered ICM, a technique that aligned perfectly with her artistic vision and deep connection to the landscape. Throughout the conversation, Stephanie shares the joys and challenges of mastering ICM, a technique that relies on movement, intuition, and experimentation. She discusses how ICM allowed her to connect more deeply with both local and distant landscapes, turning even the most ordinary scenes into opportunities for creative exploration. Stephanie also reflects on the role of photography in personal growth, explaining how embracing imperfections and letting go of expectations helped her find freedom both behind the camera and in life. Her advice to photographers? “Don't wait for perfect conditions, start moving the camera and see what happens.” Tune in to hear how Stephanie transformed her creative journey, built a thriving ICM community and continues to push the boundaries of her art. Whether you're new to ICM or an experienced photographer, her insights will inspire you to see the world and your photography in a new way.Takeaways 1. Embrace Imperfection for GrowthStephanie highlights that creativity thrives when you let go of expectations. Experimenting with ICM teaches you to embrace imperfections as part of the artistic process and personal growth. 2. Start Moving and See What HappensWith ICM, there's no right or wrong way to begin. Stephanie encourages photographers to pick up their camera, start moving it and let the results guide their creative journey. 3. Find Beauty in Every SceneWhether photographing the grand landscapes of Ireland or the subtler scenery of Iowa, ICM allows you to connect deeply with the landscape and see beauty in unexpected places. 4. Creativity Can Be Therapeutic Stephanie shares how photography, especially ICM, played a vital role in her emotional healing. Engaging in creative practices can offer stability and joy during challenging times. 5. Consistency Builds Style Stephanie emphasises the importance of "doing the work." Regularly practising ICM not only hones your skills but also helps develop a distinctive style that reflects your vision. 6. Experiment with Gear and Techniques From using neutral density filters to experimenting with multiple exposures and Lensbaby lenses, Stephanie shows that pushing your creative boundaries can lead to exciting new discoveries.Connect with StephanieWebsiteInstagramFacebookICM Photography MagazineSupport the show

Earlier this month, Stephanie Johnson, a first grade teacher at Pine Ridge Elementary School in Bend, found out she won a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. The award is considered to be the highest national honor a K-12 educator can receive for teaching science, technology, engineering or mathematics. Johnson was one of five teachers in Oregon who received the most recent award, which was given to educators nominated in 2021, 2022 or 2023. It includes a certificate signed by former President Biden, an invitation to attend the awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. and $10,000 from the National Science Foundation. Johnson joins us to talk about her achievement and the joy she gets from teaching math to 1st graders.

Daily Soap Opera Spoilers by Soap Dirt (GH, Y&R, B&B, and DOOL)
Click to Subscribe: https://bit.ly/Youtube-Subscribe-SoapDirt Days of Our Lives on Peacock gave us some controversial storylines in 2024, featuring characters like Connie, played by Julie Dove, and Stefan DiMera, portrayed by Brandon Barash. Fans were left frustrated with plotlines involving Everett Lynch, portrayed by Blake Berris, who was introduced as Stephanie Johnson's ex and later revealed to be Bobby Stein, the ex-husband of Jada Hunter. The DOOL character's hastily written exit was a major disappointment, as was the storyline involving Connie and her cardboard crush on Li Shin, played by Remington Hoffman. The return of Clyde Weston, played by James Read, also drew criticism. The plot involving a fake Abby, portrayed by AnnaLynne McCord, left fans longing for the return of the original Abigail Deveraux, previously played by Kate Mansi and Marci Miller. Lastly, the "Body and Soul" storyline was widely panned, leading to the termination of former head writer Ron Carlivati. Despite the backlash, Days of Our Lives topped Peacock's ratings in the week of November 4th, with storylines focusing on Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel), Phillip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier), Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow), Xander Cook (Paul Telfer), and Rafe Hernandez's (Galen Gering) proposal to Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu). Fans are now eagerly awaiting the work of the new female writing team, set to debut on April 30th, 2025. Stephanie Johnson is not just a real estate agent in Burnsville, North Carolina; she's a community pillar with a heart dedicated to service. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which left many in her community in dire need, Stephanie recognized a gap in support for local families. Her response was immediate and selfless—initially setting up with just a single popup tent in the parking lot of the local Roses store, she began distributing essential supplies. Her initiative quickly gained momentum, transforming from a grassroots effort into the establishment of Rebuilding Hollers - Come Hell or Highwater, a non-profit organization aimed at providing sustained assistance to those impacted by the hurricane. Today, Rebuilding Hollers continues to serve as a lifeline for the community, focusing on meeting the heating, power, water, and cleanup needs of Yancey & Mitchell Counties' residents, showcasing Stephanie's commitment to her community's resilience and recovery.

Stephanie Johnson's journey began with earning her Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications and gaining experience at a safety association. That path led her relocate to Denver and join AlphaGraphics, where she rapidly ascended from her initial role as Marketing Campaign Manager in 2019, to her present position, VP of Marketing for AlphaGraphics, POSTNET and World Options, All three of these brand flags flying under the umbrella of MBE Global. AlphaGraphics operates approximately 230 franchises across the U.S. focusing on providing printing and marketing solutions for businesses, small and large. Her Marketing team is charged with increasing brand awareness and lead generation through national campaigns while improving internal communications with franchise owners. In response to COVID-19, AlphaGraphics boosted their marketing efforts with a campaign that offered $25,000 brand makeovers to small businesses, served by their franchisees. This was followed by their wildly successful “Bring Your Brand to Life” initiative, emphasizing storytelling via high-quality videos. At PostNet, the emphasis is on micro businesses and smaller print jobs, prioritizing customer relationships through campaigns like “We Love Our Customers” and “First Name Basis.” World Options the third leg of the stool, supports the logistical needs of small and medium-sized businesses with personalized shipping solutions, emphasizing exceptional customer service and flexible carrier options. Stephanie Johnson, VP of Marketing for all three brands, joins us this week to share more about it all, right here on Franchise Today.
