Join David and Tim as they interview Attorney David Carlson and Paul McKinley, Republican candidate running for Jesse Jackson's vacated 2nd Congressional District seat. No stranger to controversy, McKinley is running on the slogan, "Ex-offender trying to prevent the next offender." It's unlikely that any candidate in recent history is more aware of gang violence and he has some strong opinions on what needs to be done. His campaign is less about running against his opponent and far more about running against the Chicago machine. Don't miss this very compelling On Target Radio show on Chicago gang violence.

Worse, the core of the core curriculum is rotten (constructivist). And for something really different... last week I had a chance to visit the Jacobson Academy at George Washington Carver Elementary school in Des Moines. It is a co-operative effort amongst the school, the Boys and Girls Club of Central Iowa and Judy Hintz from Educational Resources. It is a pilot program designed as an afternoon after school remedial program for academically distress kids. I was invited to a roundtable discussion of the evaluation of phase one....about 4 months into the program. Plus a sample of the actual classroom demonstration. Very cool.
