A potential segment idea comes to mind! We react to the news that Aaron Rodgers is coming to mandatory minicamp, as reported by Tom Pelissero. A solid Chewy and Reggie White story of minicamp. It was the night 3 NFL superstars (one now a fulltime wrestler) took part in a WCW pay-per-view! Slamboree was never one of WCW's marquee events throughout the year, but they tried to bring the goods in one of greatest years in company history (at least in our opinions). Not only did former Chicago Bear, Steve "Mongo" McMichael go one-on-one with Green Bay Packer and future Hall of Famer, Reggie White, but North Carolina Panther and future Hall of Famer, Kevin Greene, teamed with the legendary "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Nature Boy" Ric Flair to take on the NWO team of Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Syxx. Chris Benoit faced off against Meng in a Death Match, the Dungeon of Doom implodes, Glacier and Mortis continue their feud as Wrath is brought into the fold, Ultimo Dragon and Lord Steven Regal have a banger for the TV Title, and Rey Mysterio Jr. takes on a NJPW star. All of this plus the Monday Night Wars and much more to discuss in the news segment!ALL PODCAST, SOCIAL MEDIA, & MERCHANDISE LINKS: linktr.ee/MainEventMarksCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.com & bonfire.com/store/maineventmarksGET FUELED WITH SHOCKED ENERGY: https://shockedenergy.com/collections/all?sca_ref=1814354.mOXH7RrwKh&sca_source=MainEventMarks (promo code: MainEvent for 10% off)GET AWESOME SPORTS T-SHIRTS: intheclutch.com/MAINEVENT (use code "MAINEVENT" for 10% off)ORDER FROM SWIFT LIFESTYLES: SwiftLifestyles.com, use PROMO CODE: MainEventMarks at checkout for 15% offLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 9PM EST: tikilive.com/channel/BURNS
Originally recorded May 2021. A severe storm and a Sixers playoff game couldn't keep us from recording this week, and it's a good thing. Another great episode was had as Nick and Vaughn dove deep into WCW's May pay-per-view from 1997, Slamboree. There was an NFL invasion of sorts, as football greats Steve "Mongo" McMichael, Kevin Greene, and Reggie White all danced inside the squared circle at this event on May 18, 1997, live from the Independence Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina ... aka Horsemen Country. This would also be Ric Flair's first match in months after returning from injury. This pay-per-view surprised us... in a good way. We're obviously keeping track of the Sixers' playoff game and the Phillies in action, so we have some commentary on the goings on in those respective games, but we promise it doesn't take up too much time. -- Follow us on Twitter [@_piccone] [@VaughnMJohnson] [@ShootersRadio] You can subscribe to The Straight Shooters on the following platforms: [Apple Podcasts] [Google Podcasts] [Spotify] [iHeartRadio] [Amazon] [Audacy] [TuneIn Radio] [Pandora] [Stitcher] [Spreaker] [Player FM] and wherever else you get your podcasts! Over the years there have been many classic films about teachers making a difference. To Sir, With Love, Dead Poets Society, Stand and Deliver, and of course The Principal, which features an Oscar-worthy performance by Jim Belushi. But this week we come together to discuss possibly the best of them all: Reggie's Prayer. Former NFL player and WCW alumnus Reggie White plays Reggie Knox (apparently from The Tony Danza School of Character Naming) who steps away from football to make a difference in the life of Portland youths. The only person standing in Reggie's way is drug kingpin Mr. Portola, played by Paul "The Big Show" Wight. Let's find out if the NFL Hall of Famer can overcome the future WWE Hall of Famer and save these kids.
This week's show takes a deep dive into the 1984 USFL Topps Football Card Set. It was a completely different era for football back then. The NFL wasn't the goliath it is today and a startup group of investors felt like the time was right to challenge the league. They weren't alone. Herschel Walker, Steve Young, Reggie White, and Jim Kelly all joined the league. But the cards may be more interesting than the league! We also talk about Ken Goldin and Drake opening a box of 1986 Fleer LIVE on Instagram and the future of those cards. They pulled THREE Michael Jordan rookies and three Jordan stickers. Other topics include a Forbes article on PSA and Bruce Arians steps down as the Buccaneers head coach.

Host Andrea Kremer takes us back to 1997 when NFL Films Steve Sabol interviewed former NFL defensive end Reggie White. Fresh off of his 1st Super Bowl Championship, Reggie explores his decision to leave the Eagles and join the Packers and even reveals other teams he was considering playing for. Outside of football, Reggie explains the importance of his ministries and how he planned to do more than just preach to those in need. The Lombardi Trophy was on its way back to Lombardi Country. Vince Lombardi's Packers won Super Bowls I and II in the mid-1960s by playing with confidence and faith. Nearly 30 years later, Green Bay's 1996 team, led by coach Mike Holmgren, used those same virtues to carry the franchise to its third Super Bowl title. Holmgren was known for his intensity on game days, and an ability to mentor quarterbacks, qualities that would serve him well with the Packers. By '96, Holmgren had molded Brett Favre into an NFL MVP who could use his West Coast system in spectacular fashion. Statistically speaking, the Packers had never played better. Led by Favre and All-Pro defensive end Reggie White, Green Bay tied a franchise record for wins, led the league in scoring, and gave up the fewest points. But on a team renowned for its star power, it was return man Desmond Howard -- considered a disappointment in the pros at that point - who made the greatest impact against New England in Super Bowl XXXI. Yes, there was a 29-year wait between celebrations. But in Titletown, U.S.A., it was worth it.
Tek & Prem welcome two guests on the VetLine: 94WIP On-Air Host Tom Kelly, & Chip from Chips and Dish, to talk Eagles and Sixers. Joel Embiid does not want to babysit and instead is focusing on the guys who want to be here. Season starts tonight in New Orleans. Eagles lose another game and look poor in doing so. Nick Sirianni's system referred to as a 'high school' offense in the media. A road tilt versus the Las Vegas Raiders is on the horizon. Jalen Hurts progression and regression. The defense needs help, fast. Flyers continue same useless goalie shuffle after their first win. Episode 24 with Aaron Taylor has to be my favorite interview yet. We discussed his playing career from Notre Dame to Green Bay, life after football, and the creation of the Joe Moore Award. Aaron tells great stories of Lou Holtz, Jerome Bettis, Brett Favre, Reggie White, duffle bags with $700k floating around the locker room before the Super Bowl, and so much more! I highly encourage everyone to listen to the entirety of the episode even if that means breaking it up into sections! Definitely expect Aaron to be back on the show. The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, 1993 saw the NFL finally award players unrestricted free agency. Seven decades of struggle led to this moment. And amazingly the ‘93 Free Agency class lived up to the hype. Hall of Famers like Reggie White, Marcus Allen and Kevin Greene headlined an offseason signing frenzy the likes we've never seen. In this episode, I interviewed one of the best wide receivers to graduate from Monmouth University who is currently an NFL free agent. This guest spent his rookie year on the NY Giants practice squad where he was able to get adjusted to the NFL. His family and close friends are extremely tight and they have seen the growth in this guest over the years, but he talks about how his dad has been his biggest role model throughout his life. He stresses the importance of believing in yourself despite the opinion of others and working hard to achieve greatness. Instagram: @_regg9 Twitter: @_regg1
