Philippians 2:19-30 | This Sunday, we get to look at two men of faith in Philippians 2 -- Timothy and Epaphroditus. These men were used by God to minister to Paul's tangible needs and are also responsible for taking the message of God's Grace to many in their day. For this work Paul honors them both, but what's more, God has honored them in an unbelievable way by preserving their story for us to learn from.

“You know it when you see it.” That is true of spiritual maturity. In Philippians 2:19-30, Paul gives us a front-row seat to two powerful examples who model four marks of mature believers who serve and grow together in the gospel. Take a close look at them, and you will see maturity in motion.

Sunday, February 11, 2024 - "It's not how one starts; it's how one finishes that counts." - have you ever heard that? Well, that's precisely the point of what we're talking about today. The title of the message is "Different Beginnings – Same Ending." We look at the lives of two men, Timothy and Epaphroditus. Their upbringings couldn't have been more different, yet God used them uniquely in His Kingdom. I have no idea what your back story is, but I can assure you that God knows, and He can take whatever you're willing to give Him, and He'll make it into something great in His kingdom IF you're willing to give it to Him. It might take some work and commitment, but it's up to you. Remember, "It's not how one starts; it's how one finishes." If that's true, we must also realize that one can "start great and finish poorly," right? So, this message is an encouragement and a warning at the same time for us to guard our hearts and minds so that we live well and finish strong…

Paul introduces us to Timothy and Epaphroditus in Philippians 2. Timothy can be described as Paul’s life long project and Epaphroditus as a man who man Paul’s burdens his own. These two men - Paul’s best men, are sent to the Church in Philippi. Just as Paul sent his best men out, we are taught how God sent Jesus Christ- His best to us.

The 9th sermon in a series on Philippians. Paul encourages the struggling Philippians with reminders of their friends, Timothy and Epaphroditus, both who put their own wellbeing on the line for the sake of this church. Here, we see the value of self-giving friendship, portrayed not just in these saints, but first and foremost in Jesus' own friendship with us.
