I had the pleasure of meeting Damon face-to-face in Berlin at Tresor.Berlin (OFFICIAL) a couple of weeks ago, and am very excited to hear what he's going to bring to our ears. Featured Set - 12am Damon Bradley TechnoFist Damon Bradley is a veteran electronic music enthusiast, a house-head since 1989, techno/trance head since 1993, and DJing since 2005. Originally from Philly, Damon is the creator of TechnoFist and is one of the co-creators of SEQUENCE in Washington DC. Damon Bradley, a resident of central Maryland, USA, was born and raised in South Philadelphia. It was here that he was first exposed to the beginnings of house music on Saturday nights on the legendary 105.3 FM WDAS R&B and classic soul radio station back in 1989. A few years later, while searching for new sounds, he stumbled on ambient, techno, and trance nearly simultaneously during the summer of 1993, on Drexel University’s WKDU 91.7 FM. During these formative years, Damon instantly fell in love with the sounds of Josh Wink, Sven Vaeth, Oliver Lieb, The Orb, Joey Beltram, Steve Roach, Aphex Twin, and just about anything released on the Harthouse, Strictly Rhythm, and R&S music labels. Damon only started DJ’ing around 2005, playing progressive house for a few parties and UMBC’s student radio station while in graduate school. He returned to his techno roots in 2010 and started DJ’ing techno in 2015 in Washington DC. Damon’s musical influences span a very broad spectrum from ambient to industrial techno, groovy and soulful house, and melodic progressive trance. Currently, he’s focused on exposing the boundaries of techno to as many people as possible, and he does this using the TechnoFist group and TechnoFist podcast he created in 2013 and 2015, respectively. He curates both new and classic techno on TechnoFist which now has over 2,200 members, mostly from New York, Washington DC, and various European cities. Damon has played in numerous places in Washington DC, Brooklyn, and Philadelphia including Jimmy Valentines, and Dr. Clocks Nowhere Bar for the Degenerate, Void Archive, and Phonic parties in DC, EXILE Brooklyn, Flash DC, Tilt, and Aphotic in Brooklyn. He's also played at Generator in Amsterdam in 2017. Damon has played at all ends of the running order, opening for the likes of Shifted, Ben Damage, Exos, and Phase, and closing for juggernauts such as Perc, Tommy Four Seven, Headless Horseman, Stranger, Milton Bradley, and The Gods Planet. In 2016, Damon teamed up with Ron Jackson, Jacob Knibb, Associate and Juana to form SEQUENCE, an ambitious underground techno event series that aims to push the Washington DC techno scene as far as possible. SEQUENCE has been throwing parties since August 2016, and has feature strong local talent alongside heavyweights such as Headless Horseman, UVB, Discwoman, Milton Bradley, BMG, and Tommy Four Seven. PARIDE SARACENI on: - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/paridesaraceniofficial - SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/paride_saraceni HOW I MET THE BASS on: - Facebook: www.facebook.com/howimetthebass - Twitter: www.twitter.com/howimetthebass - Mixcloud: https://www.mixcloud.com/HowIMetTheBass 3 QUESTIONS to PARIDE SARACENI: Q: Tell us about your mix – what do these tracks mean to you, how did they shape your career? A: I have picked certain special tracks for this mix, starting from my earliest vinyls, which date back to 2007, including "Victor Casanova" by the Italoboyz duo, which was of great inspiration for me due to its very open approach to originally include cinematic recordings into a dancefloor-oriented piece of minimal techno; as well as my first Cocoon vinyl: "The Beauty And The Beast" by Sven Vaeth, remixed by Eric Prydz, which instead, at the time, captured my attention in a street of Florence, (which is where I bought this record) due to its bassline and very mysterious crescendo and dynamic flow which I immediately incorporated into my earliest productions. [...] Edit note: due to a limit of 4.000 signs here please read the full answer on our page soon. Q: Releasing your music on huge labels opens the world for a DJ. Which places are on your must-see list? A: I hope to visit a lot of countries, especially the ones in South America, Asia and Africa, but mostly the more hidden places where this kind of experimental music has not yet managed to be heard, or better, "discovered" and appreciated. I am curious of countries under oppression such as North Korea or Iran, and I believe that once their people will be free from the current politics, new forms of freedom, and therefore, of musical exploration will explode along with artforms new to them, which I hope to be part of one day. Q: Which new Saraceni releases are coming soon? A: I have an upcoming remix for Maya Jane Coles on her I/Am/Me, possibly a new Truesoul and a new Tronic, and I am also working on lanuching Post Scriptum Music as a record label too, with the first release being an 11 minutes long piece I am working on since 2014. This will be a very special one, I assure you!
No track list.... It's a live djset.... Biography: Martin Stimming was born in Giessen, Germany. Playing various instruments like violin, piano and drums when he was 10 years, discovering electronic music 5 years after. DJ Krush and Grooverider provided his introduction into this new electronic sound dimension. About a year later he came upon techno. At this time he was living in Butzbach, a small town near Frankfurt – influenced very much from Chris Liebing and Sven Vaeth, starting to djing and buying vinyl. He soon realized that for him making music was more fullfilling than "just" playing a groove, or mixing a record, so he started to take his production seriously and moved to Hamburg to attend SAE (School of Audio Engineering). Music had become the most important thing in his life. For 2 years, he was the producer part of the Gebrueder Ton, and in this time he befriended Diynamic (a record label from Solomun and Adriano). Stimming's debut on Diynamic was Diynamic 006 Feuervogel EP, which he produces together with Solomun. The man just never seems to sleep. Releasing and remixing all over, right now he is definitely in demand, and its obvious to all why. Everything he touches turns to gold and once again with have a couple of nuggets here for you today. There is plenty more to come, from this talented young producer.
Carsten experimented with different sounds and synths but was not inspired to make music on his own until he heard the first „HR Clubnight“ radio show in1990 mixed by Sven Vaeth. Soon Carsten visited the club „Omen“ to see his favourite DJ in full color and live in action. But he had to wait until 1999 as he again saw Sven Djing at the MTW Night as the electronic music changed his life. He also was interested in the whole music business, so he made this business to the center of his life, doing his work experience at „Cocoon“ whilest his study. Being in touch with his idol Vaeth he began a DJ career on his own on and soon was chosen together with Dominik Eulberg as on of the newcomers of the year 2004 in the most popular Techno Magazin "Groove". Placed in this top ten he began to rock the clubs, Djing with people like Richie Hawtin, Dominik Eulberg, Tiefschwarz, Ricardo Villalobos, Anthony Rother, Karotte and besides many more of course Sven Vaeth. In 2007 he released his first Mix CD "Minimal Techno" and 2008 this Mix CD was one of the most popular Compilations in the Techno business and Carsten had bookings in every famous Clubs in Germany and all over Europe. 2010 he started his new Project: the Label and Booking Agency “Spielstaub” that Carsten makes together with Michael Heise. In january 2011 Spielstaub will keep on growing and will take with Markus Gaetano another partner on board. Furthermore the new label Balushi will be started together with Pig&Dan. Also for the producing part 2011 will be a promising year. In addition to a variety of remixes for well-known labels there are also planned many releases with producing partner Mark Gaetano, who will be bookable together with Carsten Schorr as a live-act. We are excited to see how it goes on.
Hot on the heels of my first ever mix, which will be made available on the podcast next month, comes the second one. The aim of the mix was to showcase two massive tracks which I wanted to share with other people: Narcotic Thrust mix of Depeched Mode's Suffer Well and Popof's Lost Through. Tracks before these two aim to warm up the listener with some deep house music. My own personal highlight here is the Elusive Remix of Matthew Adam's No More, Anymore! Depeche Mode's mix goes back a couple of years when Sven Vaeth used it to start his sets. People used to go nuts when listening to this. Popof's Lost Through is actually distributed in two parts, Part 1 and Part 2 but in this mix, I wanted to show both of them, so I ended up doing a little edit where I layered one on top of the other. After Popof, the mix starts winding down with Julian Jeweil Remix of Lange's Perihelion which adds a progressive touch to the mix, before ending with the Scratch Massive's rather spooky Silence track. Hope you enjoy listening to the mix as much as I did putting it together. Don't forget to check the Lyrics section of the mp3 to see the tracklisting from your music player.
