Fred is still plunging into Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Jake takes on Ghost of Yotei, and we share some awesome listener feedback about self-care and making sure we're not burning the candle at both ends. Thanks to everyone for understanding our short break! In news, Battlefield 6 physical copies have leaked ahead of release, which is surprising for two reasons â hardly anyone buys physical games anymore, and most don't actually contain the game on the disc. This one does, though online is still required even for the campaign. October's PS Plus Essential lineup features Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3, and Cocoon. Rumors are swirling that Xbox might not release a next-gen console at all, which could leave PlayStation unmatched when the PS6 eventually launches. There's also talk of a new DualSense controller with a removable battery, and reports that EA may be going private amid a potential $50 billion buyout. Short, spooky, and full of PlayStation talk. We also dive into the State of Play that we didn't get a chance to discuss last week. â it's good to be back!By joining our Patreon community for ONLY $1.00 per month, you'll also enjoy these exclusive benefits:Early Access: Be the first to listen to our episodes as soon as they're ready. Jason Manford and Steve Edge are back this Sunday on Absolute Radio, and they've brought chaos, curiosity, and questionable theories with them. This week, the lads take it upon themselves to officially declare the end of summer (because obviously, that's their job now). Jason's got a wild theory about Jon Richardson that absolutely cannot wait, and Steve checks in from his recent stay in a pod hotel. Plus, there's a conker crisis spreading across the UK. Also Bin Chat is back featuring a mysterious unclaimed bin that's raising more questions than answers. And of course, your finest trivia gets the spotlight in Hit Me With Your Best Facts. Arguably the number one thing most people ask Pastor John is âHow do I find Godâs will for my life?â Religion has made the will of God some great mystery â like itâs something to search for our whole lives. We expect to get a job, hold an office, start a ministry or receive a title. We are looking for the answer in a destination, but what if itâs simpler than that? The core verse for this series is Romans 12:2, which contains two different sentences. The first says that weâre transformed by the renovation of our thoughts; the second says that we will learn to know the will of God once our mind is renovated. This week, weâre continuing (and possibly concluding) our Transformation Series with a message about Godâs will.

We are in the middle of a series called Transformation. Jesus did not go through all that He went through on this earth, so we could stay exactly the same as we were before He found us. Jesus paid the price not just for us to be saved but for us to be changed. So far, we have talked about the dual realities of salvation â the spiritual reality and visible reality â and the need to surrender ourselves to the process of transformation from caterpillar to butterfly. This week, weâre continuing the conversation and focusing on what it means to start with love. Maybe youâre beginning to believe there is a sliver of hope, but you donât know where to start. Start where Jesus did with Peter: start with love. Forget about the habits you still have in your life, the mistakes and the failures. Repent and ask God for forgiveness, but when it comes to moving forward and being changed, we need to learn the value of starting with love.

We started a new series last week called Transformation, which explores how the gospel of Jesus is one focused on transformation. Everyone who has been saved and surrendered their lives to Him has experienced this: from death to life, lost to found, darkness to light. What we learned in the first part of our series is that too many churches have offered salvation without transformation, but it is Godâs will that His followers start to develop and express the character and nature of Christ. Salvation isnât the end; itâs the beginning. We also talked about the need for sanctification, where what has happened on the inside begins to be expressed on the outside. Romans 12 says to be transformed instead of conformed, and that word is where we get our word âmetamorphosis,â which is used to describe the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly. This week, weâre diving deeper into this idea. If we want Jesus to transform us into new creations, we must surrender to the cocoon â where sanctification occurs â and trust in Him as the Power of the process.

Can we talk about how great Steve Guttenberg is? He is obviously a terrific actor and has been working longer than I've been alive, but he is also just such a source of positivityâ I could have kept talking to him for hours! You of course know Steve Guttenberg from iconic roles like Michael Kellam in Three Men and a Baby, Carey Mahoney in Police Academy or Jack Bonner in Cocoon. Since that time he has really matured into a character actor and he continues to act in TV and movies all the time. We talk about how he has gone about building a career that lasts and how he surrounds himself with grounded, positive people. We also have a moving conversation about his book Time to Thank, in which he writes about his experience being a caregiver for his father toward the end of his life. If you are in need of a pump-up speech or a dose of happy positivity, this is the episode for you! Be sure to stick around after our conversation for the Hindsight where my producer Jeph and I talk about all things Guttenberg, including the absolutely insane story he tells about sneaking onto the Paramount lot when he was a teenager. Welcome to a special solo episode of The Career Flipper Podcast! It's the podcastaversary! One year ago, I hit publish on the very first episode of this show, having no idea what I was doing and definitely not realizing how much it would change my life. What started in the messy aftermath of a 2022 layoff (and 400+ job rejections) became a permission slip to rebuild, to reimagine success, and to start over without a map.In this episode, I share the behind-the-scenes of how this podcast came to be, how flipping furniture helped me flip my identity, and how conversations with guests like:Nick Musica, a former SEO guy turned animal psychicTrish Jasinski, who bought a chateau in the south of France and left corporate to open a retreat spaceCat Cheng, a former music teacher turned Netflix-featured baker (hi, tres leches dreams)And Case Sandberg, who I met at a farmer's market and learned had just left his software engineering job to become a chocolate makerâŚhelped me feel less alone and more alive.Oh and I'm sharing a piece of my music. I wrote a song called Just Wait, about getting laid off, getting lost, and learning how to come back to yourself.Skip to 14:28 if you want to jump straight to the song.Whether you're in the middle of your own career flip, cocoon season, or identity unraveling, I hope this episode reminds you that you don't need permission from anyone else to change your life. You can give it to yourself.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Anthony back on the show to discuss the 1985 geriatric sci-fi film Cocoon. In this one, a bunch of old heads (some younger than one of our hosts) discover the Fountain of Youth in the pool next door. Oh and aliens while they are at it. To the surprise of no one, human involvement leads to the loss of both. It also raises very existential questions like "If you could extend your life and explore the galaxy, would you?" and "If you say no to question one, why are you allowed to live in the first place?" With an All-Star cast (from the 1930s), we will get to the bottom of all these questions. Enjoy the podcast.Â
Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Anthony back on the podcast to discuss what they were up to this week. Cocoon coming this Wednesday

In this episode of "Cocoon Conversations," host Jenny Dempsey gets real about the emotional rollercoaster of juggling her career and furniture-flipping side hustle. She spills on burnout, imposter syndrome, and the chaos of pricing her art (âAm I worth it?!â). Jenny shares her messy, vulnerable momentsâsinging to her furniture, doubting herself, and still showing up. She reminds us that spirals aren't failures, but part of the process, and that confidence is more like a flickering patio light than a spotlight. It's raw, relatable, and a little unhingedâin the best way. Thanks for listening to The Career Flipper! If you enjoyed this episode, let's spread the word! With stories that span press boxes to boardrooms, he offers advice Gen Z communicators can actually use: be curious, build real relationships, and never stop learning. Whether you're starting your first internship or dreaming about launching your own brand one day, this episode will inspire you to think big, take risks, and stay grounded in what matters. Anna is a writer who received her B.A. in Film/Video from Columbia College Chicago and M.A. in Film Studies from Chapman University. In todayâs Tricky Questions episode, Justin and Kylie answer Kimâs heartfelt question: How do we raise young adult males and stay connected when we donât agree with their choices? Whether your son is 16 or 26, this episode is full of practical, compassionate advice about letting go of control, nurturing connection, and guiding your sonâs journey into manhood without damaging the relationship. KEY POINTS: Independence is the goal. Young men need to pull away to become their own person. This is healthy and expected developmentânot defiance. Connection > Control. Every attempt to correct or direct your young adult without enough relational âwater in the bucketâ weakens your influence. Prioritise staying close. Rites of passage matter. Boys donât just âbecome menâ by agingâthey seek experiences to prove themselves. Without intentional guidance, theyâll create risky alternatives (like Schoolies, binge drinking, etc.). Defer respectfully. As children grow, parents should move from cocooning â reasoned cocooning â pre-arming â reasoned deference â full deference. Ask for consent to influence. If you want to share advice, first ask: âAre you open to hearing some ideas?â If the answer is no, focus on rebuilding connection. Your presence matters more than your opinion. The way you show upâwithout judgement, with genuine interestâdetermines whether your young adult wants to stay close or push away. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE: âIf our relationship is a bucket, connection is the water. Correction and direction? Thatâs just air. And no one wants to carry an empty bucket.â RESOURCES MENTIONED: Happy Families School Membership: A resource hub for schools and parents seeking connection-based parenting support. Justinâs upcoming book on raising boys and young men (sign up now to hear all the details!) More on rites of passage from Dr Arne Rubinstein in the Bringing Up Boys Summit ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS: Step back from control. Accept that your childâs job is to grow away from you. Your job? Stay close enough that they still want to come back. Check your relationship âbucket.â Before correcting or advising, ask: Is there enough connection here for this to be received well? Use the deference ladder. Ages 0â7: Cocoon 8â13: Reasoned cocooning 13â15: Pre-arming 15â17: Reasoned deference 18+: Full deference with permission to advise Build trust by asking permission. Instead of jumping in with opinions, say: âWould you be open to hearing a thought I have?â Let them grow. Sometimes, encouraging your child to move out or take more responsibility is the healthiest path forwardâeven if itâs inconvenient or uncomfortable.
