Learn why nanobubbles could be a superior alternative for athlete recovery, chronic illness (like Lyme, mold, neuropathy, and Alzheimer's), inflammation reduction, better sleep, and even skin health. Can we talk about how great Steve Guttenberg is? He is obviously a terrific actor and has been working longer than I've been alive, but he is also just such a source of positivity— I could have kept talking to him for hours! You of course know Steve Guttenberg from iconic roles like Michael Kellam in Three Men and a Baby, Carey Mahoney in Police Academy or Jack Bonner in Cocoon. Since that time he has really matured into a character actor and he continues to act in TV and movies all the time. We talk about how he has gone about building a career that lasts and how he surrounds himself with grounded, positive people. We also have a moving conversation about his book Time to Thank, in which he writes about his experience being a caregiver for his father toward the end of his life. If you are in need of a pump-up speech or a dose of happy positivity, this is the episode for you! Be sure to stick around after our conversation for the Hindsight where my producer Jeph and I talk about all things Guttenberg, including the absolutely insane story he tells about sneaking onto the Paramount lot when he was a teenager. Welcome to a special solo episode of The Career Flipper Podcast! It's the podcastaversary! One year ago, I hit publish on the very first episode of this show, having no idea what I was doing and definitely not realizing how much it would change my life. What started in the messy aftermath of a 2022 layoff (and 400+ job rejections) became a permission slip to rebuild, to reimagine success, and to start over without a map.In this episode, I share the behind-the-scenes of how this podcast came to be, how flipping furniture helped me flip my identity, and how conversations with guests like:Nick Musica, a former SEO guy turned animal psychicTrish Jasinski, who bought a chateau in the south of France and left corporate to open a retreat spaceCat Cheng, a former music teacher turned Netflix-featured baker (hi, tres leches dreams)And Case Sandberg, who I met at a farmer's market and learned had just left his software engineering job to become a chocolate maker…helped me feel less alone and more alive.Oh and I'm sharing a piece of my music. I wrote a song called Just Wait, about getting laid off, getting lost, and learning how to come back to yourself.Skip to 14:28 if you want to jump straight to the song.Whether you're in the middle of your own career flip, cocoon season, or identity unraveling, I hope this episode reminds you that you don't need permission from anyone else to change your life. You can give it to yourself.

This week on the Exciting & New podcast, Jason, Andy and Dana welcome Anthony back on the show to discuss the 1985 geriatric sci-fi film Cocoon. In this one, a bunch of old heads (some younger than one of our hosts) discover the Fountain of Youth in the pool next door. Oh and aliens while they are at it. To the surprise of no one, human involvement leads to the loss of both. It also raises very existential questions like "If you could extend your life and explore the galaxy, would you?" and "If you say no to question one, why are you allowed to live in the first place?" With an All-Star cast (from the 1930s), we will get to the bottom of all these questions. Enjoy the podcast.

Bin beim Festplatte entrümpeln auf was tolles gestoßen. Und da ich weiß, wie gern ihr das gute alte Zeug habt.. nun hier mal was von Vor-vor-Gestern..;) Das Junimond-Set hab ich euch bereits aufgedrängt . Da geht aber noch was. Sollte in etwa 15 Jahre her sein.. Die Titel-Auswahl jedenfalls....hat vortrefflich funktioniert..:) 00:00:00 Taucher - Waters(Phase 3) 00:06:24 NBG - Groovebird 00:09:57 DJ Quicksilver - Belissima 00:13:47 Niels Van Gogh - Pulverturm (Tomcraft Remix) 00:17:07 Faithless - Music matters (Axwell Remix) 00:20:39 Van Bellen - Let me take you 00:24:12 Lustral - Everytime (Nalin & Kane Remix) 00:27:55 Kay Cee - Love Stimulation 00:32:05 Deep Forest - Sweet Lullaby 00:37:31 Dario G. - Sunchyme 00:44:10 Pale X - Shiver 00:50:20 Madagascasr. - You're Beautiful 00:54:22 The Gate - Iron Eden (Terra Ferma Remix) 01:00:28 Central Seven - Missing 01:05:56 Aquaplex - Brightness (Junk Project Remix) 01:11:08 Dumonde - Tomorrow (Jam X & De Leon Remix) 01:19:11 Ratty - Sunrise 01:25:36 Pulp Victim - The World (Olav Vasofski Remix) 01:30:52 Jupiter Prime - Gate To Heaven 01:37:25 Pascal Device - Azure (Jane T. In this episode of "Cocoon Conversations," host Jenny Dempsey gets real about the emotional rollercoaster of juggling her career and furniture-flipping side hustle. She spills on burnout, imposter syndrome, and the chaos of pricing her art (“Am I worth it?!”). Jenny shares her messy, vulnerable moments—singing to her furniture, doubting herself, and still showing up. She reminds us that spirals aren't failures, but part of the process, and that confidence is more like a flickering patio light than a spotlight. It's raw, relatable, and a little unhinged—in the best way. Thanks for listening to The Career Flipper! If you enjoyed this episode, let's spread the word! In this episode of Chats with Champions, host Chris Ottaviano, a PR student at NC State, sits down with Philip Tate, APR, Fellow PRSA—an industry veteran who's done it all, from sports PR to launching his own consultancy. Philip shares what it was like to shift gears after decades in agency life, and why stepping outside your comfort zone (or "workplace cocoon") can lead to your most rewarding work. With stories that span press boxes to boardrooms, he offers advice Gen Z communicators can actually use: be curious, build real relationships, and never stop learning. Whether you're starting your first internship or dreaming about launching your own brand one day, this episode will inspire you to think big, take risks, and stay grounded in what matters. It's the same handle for all three... @80smontagepod.Anna Keizer and Derek Dehanke are the co-hosts of ‘80s Movie Montage. The idea for the podcast came when they realized just how much they talk – a lot – when watching films from their favorite cinematic era. Their wedding theme was “a light nod to the ‘80s,” so there's that, too. Both hail from the Midwest but have called Los Angeles home for several years now. Anna is a writer who received her B.A. in Film/Video from Columbia College Chicago and M.A. in Film Studies from Chapman University. Her dark comedy short She Had It Coming was an Official Selection of 25 film festivals with several awards won for it among them. Derek is an attorney who also likes movies. It is a point of pride that most of their podcast episodes are longer than the movies they cover. We'd love to hear from you! Send us a text message.
In this episode of "Cocoon Conversations" on the Career Flipper podcast, I, Jenny Dempsey, take you along on my career journey. This year, I've committed to opening up about my own career flip, just as I encourage my guests to do. So here we are, in May 2025, and I can hardly believe it's been four months since I started my current day job. It feels surreal to say that, especially considering I was laid off for two years before this.During this time, I've been balancing my full-time job with furniture restoration on the side, dedicating Sundays to it, and squeezing in podcasting and all the related tasks whenever I can. If that sounds overwhelming, it is! Life can be a juggling act, and I know I'm not alone in feeling this way. Scheduling time with friends often feels like a game of Tetris, as we all navigate our busy lives.I've always been the type of person who thrives on variety. I'm the one multitasking—doing laundry while putting away dishes, preparing to record a podcast, creating social media content for my furniture flipping page, and making sure my dog, Dwight, gets outside for a potty break. My brain has always thrived on this mix of activities, and I've been like this for as long as I can remember.Looking back, I've come to realize something significant. For a long time, I believed that work—capital W work—was my identity. I thought it was the only thing I was good at. I didn't believe in taking vacations; if I did, I'd bring my laptop along and continue working. I even had a panic attack in front of a customer service team I was managing because I was so consumed by my job. I poured everything into my work, only to learn the hard way that companies would replace me in an instant. When I was laid off and struggled to find a new job for two years, I was left questioning my identity. Who was I if I wasn't working?I dive into this and more in the episode! At the heart of her healing is a process she created for herself, called Cocoon to Butterfly, a 9 stage grief-to-freedom journey that helps others alchemize loss into self-love, purpose, and true inner peace. If you're navigating the loss of a loved one, grieving a version of yourself, or craving deeper meaning in your life, this episode will stir something in your soul. It's about remembering who you are, reclaiming your light, and rising! I'm also so honored to be a speaker at Alisa's Cocoon to Butterfly: The Live Experience at the end of June in Tacoma, Washington. If you're feeling moved to come, don't second-guess it – just get yourself there! It's going to be such a special experience. Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussions of grief, loss, and the death of a spouse. IN THIS EPISODE: Alisa's love story with her husband, from summer teenage romance to going their separate ways – and then coming back together as adults How losing her husband led to alchemizing grief into a vibrant, purpose-driven life, and sparked the creation of a transformational movement The mystical experience Alisa had communicating with her late husband, including the telepathic moments and healing messages she received Breaking down grief as fuel for ascension, and why embracing your darkest pain is the gateway to discovering your authentic self The “Cocoon to Butterfly” stages that turn heartbreak into a catalyst for freedom, growth, and self-love (and check out the live experience this June!) LINKS/RESOURCES MENTIONED The Cocoon to Butterfly: The Live Experience is happening June 28-29 in Tacoma, Washington. I hope to see you there! In today’s Tricky Questions episode, Justin and Kylie answer Kim’s heartfelt question: How do we raise young adult males and stay connected when we don’t agree with their choices? Whether your son is 16 or 26, this episode is full of practical, compassionate advice about letting go of control, nurturing connection, and guiding your son’s journey into manhood without damaging the relationship. KEY POINTS: Independence is the goal. Young men need to pull away to become their own person. This is healthy and expected development—not defiance. Connection > Control. Every attempt to correct or direct your young adult without enough relational “water in the bucket” weakens your influence. Prioritise staying close. Rites of passage matter. Boys don’t just “become men” by aging—they seek experiences to prove themselves. Without intentional guidance, they’ll create risky alternatives (like Schoolies, binge drinking, etc.). Defer respectfully. As children grow, parents should move from cocooning → reasoned cocooning → pre-arming → reasoned deference → full deference. Ask for consent to influence. If you want to share advice, first ask: “Are you open to hearing some ideas?” If the answer is no, focus on rebuilding connection. Your presence matters more than your opinion. The way you show up—without judgement, with genuine interest—determines whether your young adult wants to stay close or push away. QUOTE OF THE EPISODE: “If our relationship is a bucket, connection is the water. Correction and direction? That’s just air. And no one wants to carry an empty bucket.” RESOURCES MENTIONED: Happy Families School Membership: A resource hub for schools and parents seeking connection-based parenting support. Justin’s upcoming book on raising boys and young men (sign up now to hear all the details!) More on rites of passage from Dr Arne Rubinstein in the Bringing Up Boys Summit ACTION STEPS FOR PARENTS: Step back from control. Accept that your child’s job is to grow away from you. Your job? Stay close enough that they still want to come back. Check your relationship “bucket.” Before correcting or advising, ask: Is there enough connection here for this to be received well? Use the deference ladder. Ages 0–7: Cocoon 8–13: Reasoned cocooning 13–15: Pre-arming 15–17: Reasoned deference 18+: Full deference with permission to advise Build trust by asking permission. Instead of jumping in with opinions, say: “Would you be open to hearing a thought I have?” Let them grow. Sometimes, encouraging your child to move out or take more responsibility is the healthiest path forward—even if it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable. Photo by Dan McMahon Born 1989 Atlanta, Georgia. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, and works in the Bronx, New York. Emma McMillan searches for the pulsing vitality of life through non-human figurative paintings. Drawing, collage, macroscopic photography, and archival research are avenues for abstraction of the animal form. For several years a local Spotted Lanternfly infestation has been a commentary on the current state of human and animal affairs. The series, now expanded across species, takes on lusty and religious overtones of reincarnation. Sampling psychology, the natural world, and pop culture, her gem-hued oil paintings are complex reflections on living and its mutations across time. Emma McMillan has had institutional exhibitions at Atlanta Contemporary ArtsCenter, Atlanta Georgia, “Project X” (2019) She has had solo exhibitions at Sebastian Gladstone, New York, 2025, Sebastian Gladstone, Los Angeles, 2024, PhilippZollinger, Zurich, 2024, and a solo booth with PhilippZollinger at Liste Art Fair Basel, in June 2024. I don't want to alarm anyone, but the 2020s are already half over. This horrific revelation doesn't have many upsides, but one of them is surely the fact that – with five years of this rotten decade under our belts – we can start to think a little bit about the current shape of the gaming landscape, and how it'll be remembered when we inevitably arbitrarily lump it all together in another five years' time. OK, turns out that wasn't such a cheerful conversation either, but you know what is a place of loveliness and positivity? The Indieventure Vault. Yes, that's right, today we're once again opening the blast-proof doors to go over our very favourite indie games of the first half of the 2020s, at the end of which each of us selects our own #1 pick to rest safe in the Vault forever. The list we come up with is as eclectic as you'd expect, featuring as it does a blend of personal favourites and acclaimed best-ofs including Among Us, Boyfriend Dungeon, Citizen Sleeper, Cocoon, Death's Door, Immortality, Max Gentlemen Sexy Business, Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, Thank Goodness You're Here, Umurangi Generation, and Vampire Survivors. But only three from that shortlist can be submitted into the prestigious Indieventure Vault. Who will it be? (Insert reality-TV-coded pause.) I mean, come on, obviously you're going to have to listen to find out, I'm not going to give the big reveal away just like that. We end as always on our hyperfixations, and in what may actually be a podcast first, we're all about video games in our free time right now! Rebecca's new favourite is still under embargo, so all she can really say at the moment is that she's really been enjoying Blue Prince (check back next episode for more on that!). Liam sings the praises of the wonderful co-op playground that is Split Fiction while also taking the auteur to task for the many, many issues he has with the plot of Split Fiction. And Rachel loves Two Point Museum, because as we all know she's a lady of impeccable taste and it's simply great. Our music was written and performed by Ollie Newbury! The beloved German producer talks about finding inner peace, overstimulation and his new album on Pampa Records. Mental health is a topic that comes up frequently in the music industry, but it's still not discussed enough among electronic music's top performers. In this RA Exchange, Stefan Kozalla—better known as DJ Koze—opens up about his battle with anxiety, self-doubt and rising expectations that come with being a long-standing, high-profile name. He talks about overstimulation, music as rest and the compromises artists need to make to have relevance and staying power. Kozalla, a beloved and eccentric German artist who has developed a cult following over the course of his career, has productions on esteemed labels like XL, Kompakt, Cocoon, Warp, Ninja Tune and BPitch, which garner praise as soon as they're released. "Every time DJ Koze comes out of the woodwork to drop a 12-inch—or even just a remix—we usually end up hearing it everywhere for months on end," wrote former RA editor Andrew Ryce. Kozalla talks to RA contributor (and former editor) Matt Unicomb about his production process and early influences—an uncanny combination of Basic Channel and Public Enemy—as well as his forthcoming album, Music Can Hear Us, coming out on Pampa Records on April 4th. Have you ever wondered how two yoga teachers with diverse backgrounds and experiences come together to create something magical? In this episode, I sit down with my friend and fellow yoga instructor, Tony Lupinacci, to explore our journeys in the yoga world and our upcoming retreat in Portugal. Tony and I dive deep into our personal stories, discussing how we found yoga and the transformative power it's had in our lives. We share vulnerable moments, from dealing with loss to overcoming self-doubt, and how these experiences have shaped our teaching styles.Tony has been practicing and teaching yoga for over a decade in an attempt to metabolize deep grief and to understand the human condition through his own. After countless hours of practice and self-study, he began to shed the protective layers of his personality. Eventually, he found himself thinking less and feeling more, coming to a simple yet profound truth: our true nature is to love and to move from a space of open-hearted compassion. Tony's classes weave Ashtanga, Kundalini, Gosh and Katonah Yoga together to create a rigorous inward exploration of the self. He also uses vedic meditation, mantra and kriya as tools to reach higher states of consciousness through the physical form. His goal is for practitioners to leave with a stronger connection to themselves and to all sentient beings. The Power of Community and RetreatsWe're both excited about our upcoming retreat at Cocoon in Portugal, a 250-acre forest farm that promises to be a magical experience. We talk about the special bond that forms during retreats and how they allow for deeper connections, personal growth and are also a fantastic way to make new friends! Join us this Summer in Portugal from July 31st - August 6th.
