Genny Schorr is a guitarist, songwriter, stylist, and a defining voice of the LA punk scene — and now she's chronicling it all in her new book, All Roads Lead to Punk. In this episode, Genny shares the wild, candid story of her path through 1970s Los Angeles: from forming Backstage Pass — one of the first female punk bands in the city — to launching Strait Jacket, the LA boutique that became a style hub for rock's biggest names. She also reflects on her years styling and living with Linda Ronstadt, as well as styling and touring with The Bangles at the height of their success. It's a memorable conversation with someone whose stories bring the era to life in a way only an insider can. Songs in the episode (Backstage Pass singles included when you order the book): Elvis Costello & The Attractions - "Pump It Up" Backstage Pass - "Legend (Come On Up To Me)" The Bangles - "Hazy Shade of Winter" Backstage Pass - "Let Me Show You Love" To learn more about Genny check out her website: https://gennyschorr.com To order the book click HERE. Genny Schorr in conversation with David Eastaugh https://hozacrecords.com/product/pre-order-all-roads-lead-to-punk-book-7-record-set-by-genny-schorr/ https://gennyschorr.com/ As a founding member of one of Los Angeles' earliest female-led bands, BACKSTAGE PASS, Genevieve Schorr lived and breathed rock'n roll growing up like a lot of teenagers at the time. What set her apart was forging her unique band so early in the punk timeline (a direct shot from her glam & pub rock influences) and eventually evolving her life into becoming a professional rock'n roll stylist to the stars. Genny's book reads like a lost diary trapped in a punk house time capsule from the era, complete with tales of dereliction and unsuspecting victories along the way. Crossing paths with such wildly diverse characters such as The Screamers, The Mumps, Dr. Feelgood, The Damned, The Quick, Jon Stewart, Jim Carrey, The Bangles, and Linda Ronstadt, All Roads Lead To Punk is an invigorating flash through a wild life not to be forgotten. This book comes also with a limited edition BACKSTAGE PASS 7″ single

This week, I sat down with Lauren Schorr, director of CX at Nestig, to talk about what it actually looks like to build customer experience into the foundation of a brand—not just as a function, but as a mindset. We dig into why Nestig made CX its very first hire (yes, really), how they've scaled without outsourcing, and the difference between answering tickets and owning the entire customer journey. Lauren also breaks down the shift from baby products to kids' furniture and what that's meant for how her team communicates, supports, and grows. If you're thinking about building a CX team, growing your career in customer experience, or figuring out how to use feedback in a way that actually leads to change, this one's for you.
How can Security Copilot help you secure your applications? Richard talks to Ari Schorr about assessing application risk with Microsoft Security Copilot - a new feature in preview in Security Copilot that focuses on application roles and entities. Ari talks about the sheer array of resources that applications depend on, and the many security risks that exist in that space - how do you even get started on the problem? Security Copilot helps to sort through potential risks and help a sysadmin focus in on the most significant risks, especially the low-hanging fruit weak authentication and unused resources. The conversation also explores some of the future potential of a tool like this to detect supply chain attacks, find ways to strengthen and simplify applications so their attack surface is smaller. It's a great time to get familiar with these tools!LinksMicrosoft Security CopilotMidnight Blizzard Attack on MicrosoftSecure Future InitiativeAssess Application Risk with Microsoft Security CopilotMicrosoft SentinelRecorded February 18, 2025

Today marks the launch of a new show on Alt Goes Mainstream: Going Public with Evercore's Glenn Schorr.17 years ago, there wasn't a single alternative asset manager that was part of the public markets. Today, not only are a number of the industry's largest firms public, but in 2024, the industry's largest alternative asset manager, Blackstone, entered the S&P 500.Understanding the inner workings, strategic moves, and financial performance of the industry's largest players can help to explain many of the trends that are making alternatives become mainstream and these firms become mainstays in the financial services ecosystem.Going Public will make private markets more public with expert analysis.Glenn Schorr is a Senior MD and Senior Research Analyst at Evercore ISI, where he covers brokers, banks, asset managers, and trust banks as an analyst. The boys were all set for a rousing hour of conversation with one of their favorite P.R. and Advertising men, Marty Schorr, formerly of Motion Performance, when technical difficulties struck. Having Billy G. in the meeting kept the show alive, and Marty was eventually able to join in and talk about his upcoming "Team Zora" Motorsports Corvette reunion to be held in Italy next year. A caller tells a story of how he regularly sees an original Motion BelAir in one of our local towns and naturally we want to know more about it. A conversation with Kathryn Schorr is like zooming down a runway in a jetliner, so Kath and Jan strap in with their tray tables up for rollicking good time as we take a deep dive into Kathryn's childhood, complete with E/R surgeon dad and deceased sibling and then move into her own grown-up life and how a meteor (or maybe two – we lost track!) landed right in the middle of it and we somehow manage to also bitch about food! A few years back, Kathryn had a hit show - “Death – A Comedy” which chronicled the events that changed her life and was proof that even in the worst of times, she can find humor. A fantastic conversation with the fastest talker in the West! Listen in!
Employees of a multistate rehab company have been left in the dark after several facilities shut across the country following the suicides of the two top executives. Retreat Behavioral Health, which has facilities in Florida, Philadelphia and Connecticut, abruptly closed their facility in Palm Beach, Florida, last week. Employees told WPTV that around 100 mental health and substance use patients were told to pack up and leave, including 30 who had nowhere to go. Facilities in Lancaster County, PA, and New Haven, CT, have also since shuttered following the deaths of CEO Peter Schorr and CAO Scott Korogodsky. Korogodsky had taken up the leadership of the company after Schorr killed himself at his home in Delray Beach, according to LancasterOnline.

The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (05/06/2024): 3:05pm- While speaking briefly with the press on Monday prior to entering court in New York City, President Donald Trump said the gag order imposed on him by Judge Juan Merchan is “not fair” and argued that the scope of the gag order infringes upon his constitutional right to free speech. On Monday, Judge Merchan fined Trump $1,000 for violating the gag order and emphasized that continued violations could result in Trump being sent to jail. 3:15pm- On Monday, former Press Secretary—and current MSNBC host—Jen Psaki stated that she did not believe it's necessary for President Joe Biden to do more press conferences in order to win reelection in 2024. 3:40pm- David Gelman—Defense Attorney & Former Prosecutor—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his work as a legal surrogate for former President Donald Trump and the Trump 2024 Campaign. Why has Trump been subjected to a gag order while Michael Cohen, for example, has not been? 4:05pm- Isaac Schorr of Mediate reports that talk show host Michael Smerconish has been disinvited from speaking at Dickinson College's commencement ceremony after students complained about a passage from a book he wrote in 2004. Schorr writes: “In his book, Smerconish argued against a Department of Transportation policy that ‘precluded more than two individuals of any particular ethnicity from being singled out at the same time for secondary screening at airports.'” You can read the full story here: https://www.mediaite.com/news/cnns-michael-smerconish-disinvited-from-college-commencement-over-comments-from-2004/ 4:20pm- After leaving court on Monday, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump revealed that his “hush money” trial may last another 2 to 3 weeks—which will keep him off the campaign trail. 4:40pm- George Leef of National Review writes: “Let's look at the new California minimum wage law for workers in fast food businesses and see how it has been working out. Professor Lee Ohanian has done some digging and writes about his findings in [his] piece for Independent Institute. He observes more than 9,500 jobs have already been wiped out, with more expected.” You can read the full article here: https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/californias-minimum-wage-wipes-out-thousands-of-jobs/ 4:50pm- Barak Ravid of Axios reports that the Biden Administration “put a hold on a shipment of U.S.-made ammunition to Israel.” Rich notes that Congress explicitly provided $26 billion in aid for Israel in last month's $95 billion foreign aid bill. Ukraine received assistance immediately—why was Israel forced to wait? 5:00pm- In his Wall Street Journal editorial, Ralph Reed writes about the media's continued attempts to smear Christians in America. He explains: “House Speaker Mike Johnson stared down anti-Israel protesters at Columbia University last month and affirmed the nation's support for Jewish students. His remarks were sharp and unequivocal, a welcome contrast with university officials' hand-wringing and the Biden administration's feeble response to the antisemitism sweeping across the states. Yet rather than give him credit, Democrats and the press for months have fixated on Mr. Johnson's background as a ‘Christian nationalist.' The New Republic claimed he'd been ‘groomed by the Christian right' in ‘secretive circles' to ‘rule the United States according to ‘biblical values.'' Robert Jones, president of the Public Religion Research Institute, described Mr. Johnson as ‘the embodiment of white Christian nationalism in a tailored suit.'” You can read the full editorial here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-smear-campaign-against-christian-nationalists-faith-freedom-f3954994?mod=opinion_lead_pos5 5:30pm- The Toobin Missile Crisis! Plus, why did Google claim a recent Trump advertisement was violative of its policies? 5:45pm- Washington Post reporter Taylor Lorenz bizarrely claims LGBTQ members have fewer rights in Texas and Florida than in Gaza—she is quickly corrected by Don Lemon. And on Sunday night, Netflix hosted their roast of former NFL quarterback Tom Brady. 6:05pm- While speaking briefly with the press on Monday prior to entering court in New York City, President Donald Trump said the gag order imposed on him by Judge Juan Merchan is “not fair” and argued that the scope of the gag order infringes upon his constitutional right to free speech. On Monday, Judge Merchan fined Trump $1,000 for violating the gag order and emphasized that continued violations could result in Trump being sent to jail. 6:15pm- On Monday, former Press Secretary—and current MSNBC host—Jen Psaki stated that she did not believe it's necessary for President Joe Biden to do more press conferences in order to win reelection in 2024. 6:20pm- After leaving court on Monday, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump revealed that his “hush money” trial may last another 2 to 3 weeks—which will keep him off the campaign trail. 6:25pm- In a soon to be released book, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem reveals that she shot and killed a 14-month-old dog and a goat after the two animals misbehaved. Republicans and Democrats alike have rightfully spoken out against her actions, though she has defended herself explaining the incident is proof she is capable of making tough decisions. Did she just end her political career? It certainly seems like it. 6:30pm- Shia Kapos of Politico investigated the source of funding for anti-Israel protests on college campuses. Unsurprisingly, the biggest funders also happen to be some of President Joe Biden's biggest campaign donors—including George Soros and the Pritzker family. You can read the full article here: https://www.politico.com/news/2024/05/05/pro-palestinian-protests-columbia-university-funding-donors-00156135 6:40pm- A video that has gone viral on social media show's a Jewish student at University of Pennsylvania being harassed and threatened by non-student protesters on the school's campus. Episode #637 is another excellent crowdfunding doubleheader as Wayne talks with Paul Cornell and Rachael Smith from Who Killed Nessie? on Zoop.gg, then Matt Schorr from Jesus Christ: Demon Slayer on Kickstarter! It all begins with a fun interview with Paul Cornell and Rachael Smith from Who Killed Nessie? on Zoop.gg! Here's how this book is described: “Every year, legendary creatures from all over the world gather for an annual convention. But never has there been a murder. It's a comedy cryptozoological whodunnit about finding confidence through rationality and accepting a world of mysteries… by solving one.” We talk about who the characters are, how this convention story resembles real-life gatherings, and explore what else is coming soon from these great creators! Be sure you back this project before it concludes on Thursday, April 25! Then everything concludes with the return of Matt Schorr, who has a new Kickstarter underway for Jesus Christ: Demon Slayer. Here's the description: “Legends are whispered in the darkest corners of Damnation describing a time when the Son of God entered their domain to challenge Lucifer himself. Known for his teachings of peace on Earth, the Messiah waged a one-man war across the Shores of Hell, slaughtering any demon, devil or false god foolish enough to stand in his way. Now, the story can be told... .” We discuss how this story came to be, who the characters are, and what else Matt and his Schorr Manor Studio have heading our way in the months ahead! Be sure to back this Kickstarter before it concludes on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 12:48 p.m. EDT. Show your thanks to Major Spoilers for this episode by becoming a Major Spoilers Patreon member. It will help ensure Wayne's Comics Podcast continues far into the future!
