Tony Smotherman is known as the foremost expert in the world of muzzleloaders and muzzleloader hunting. He is also a dear friend and someone that is admired in the outdoor industry. I met Tony Smotherman at the western hunt expo last year and instantly liked the guy. A fellow southerner, and great story-teller, i knew i needed to get him on the show! We talk with Tony Smotherman about hunting out-of-state whitetails, public land hunts, strategies, tactics and more. Residing in Tennessee, but long known as the Travelin' Hunter®, Tony comes to this title honestly, averaging 15,000 miles in the Spring and Fall in search of critters all across this great land. Traveling to hunt is his passion, and has been his way of life for over 20 years. Tony's career has included numerous professional associations with some of the most respected companies in the outdoor industry. He has been a mainstay on both TV and various entertainment and educational video productions such as the safety and instructional DVD's included with every Knight Rifle sold during the Iowa company's final six years. He now co-hosts the safety and instructional videos for the number one muzzleloader builder in the country, CVA, and also manages their National Pro-Staff. Most recently, Tony has been behind the wheel and in front of the camera hosting his show titled..yep..you guessed it..Travelin' Hunter® where he highlights great hunting locations along with the unique characters or settings of the region. In times past, Tony has also been the commercial spokesperson for several products that he used and trusted throughtout his hunting career. Commercial endorsements were created for Barnes Bullets, The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and The National Wild Turkey Federation. He is also is the public face for bear hunting for the Newfoundland Board of Tourism.  Along with all of his other duties, Tony is also considered a notable land management and real estate expert, currently working with LandGuys in Illinois. The proof of his dedication to the outdoors can be seen in his commitment to his own personal land holdings in both Illinois and Tennessee which consistently yield great animals. Video and television isn't Tony's only venue however. He has been an award winning outdoor writer for over 20 years and was the owner and editor of his home state's largest outdoor publication, Tennessee Outdoor News, for over 10 years. Tony is often contacted to be quoted as an expert on various editorial pieces by others in the outdoor writing community. He has also been awarded the highly coveted title of "Tennessee Outdoor Communicator of the Year" by the Tennessee Wildlife Federation. Among all these other things that keep him busy, Tony is a much sought after public speaker with his topics ranging from....Top End Hunting Locations to Travel to with a Muzzleloader to our 2nd Amendment Rights.
