John B - So I was listening to the AR-15 podcast and Dauly keeps saying you need to buy mags in “generational wealth” volume. What is it that you guys think is the appropriate number of mags to have for your rifle and pistol? Do I really need to have 10 mags minimum? Gus Gus - Hello people and Aaron, What one thing do you each think we do or use or teach in the firearms space that we will one day look back on and say “wow, I can't believe we let that happen” (besides letting Aaron speak). Could be anything from gear to training to lawfare practices. For myself, I think open emitter red dots on concealed carry guns will be looked at as weird and genX level fuddery and anyone who uses one will always feel like explaining it away like Jeremy does with iron sights. Thanks guys and Aaron Unfit for Human Consumption - What software would you recommend for tracking a gun collection? I have (only) a few dozen guns, and have been using "NMCollector" since about 2005, and it meets my needs. It is now $15/year which is very reasonable, and a "lifetime" activation is less than 85-bucks. A quick search on the interwebs for alternatives reveals "ArmoryBook" which is $200/yr for up to 50 records, and "GunTrack" which is $100/yr for up to 100 records; both are way over budget for my needs. Are there other softwares I'm not aware of that you'd recommend? I don't keep pictures generally, and all I really need to track is make, model, caliber, description, year & country of manufacture, source, cost, appraised value, etc for insurance records and for my wife to cash in on this "401(G)uns" fund when I'm gone (hopefully not for several decades). 2. The Seizure of Black Powder: Lexington, Concord, and the First Shots of the Revolution Author: Patrick O'Donnell Book Title: The Indispensables: The Diverse Soldier Mariners Who Shaped the Country, Formed the Navy, and Rowed Washington across the Delaware Black powder was the most crucial resource for the nascent revolution, as it did not exist in the colonies, making guns useless without it. The British actively sought to seize all gunpowder in New England. The Marbleheaders, utilizing their established supply lines, brought in the bulk of the powder and arms the British were trying to confiscate. A key early action occurred on December 14, 1774, during the raid on Fort William and Mary, which was a main powder source for the British. Led by John Sullivan and John Langdon, the raiders—tipped off by Marblehead intelligence—stormed the fort and seized the powder and cannon; the few shots fired here are considered the "first shots" of the American Revolution. Following this, in April 1775, the British marched toward Lexington and Concord. Marblehead leaders, including Elbridge Gerry, were meeting nearby and fled into a cornfield, fearing arrest. The returning British column faced thousands of angry militiamen, including the Marbleheaders, who fought them during their retreat along the Battle Road. This included a deadly stand at Menotomy (Arlington), where many patriots were slaughtered.

This episode brings you debatably the coolest pronghorn antelope hunt I've ever done... recorded in the field, while hunting solo on public land. I don't like the word "primitive" so I'll use the term "traditional" to describe my equipment: My rifle was a 1780s-style flintlock muzzleloader charged with blackpowder and a patched round ball.  The stars lined up and I was blessed with a 106-yard opportunity on a great buck. Candidly, I'd planned to take any ethical shot opportunity on any mature buck. Instead, I had a shot at the second biggest antelope I've ever hunted. Sitting deep in the sagebrush, my rifle supported by Spartan Precision Equipment's marvelous quad shooting sticks, I squeezed the double-set trigger. The Arishok informs Hawke that there was a theft. Someone stole what they thought was the formula for explosive gaatlock powder but it was switched out with the formula for a poisonous gas. After a long trek through a smuggler's cave, Hawke confronts the obvious thief, Javaris, only to discover he's the fall guy and the real thief is an elf woman. Back to Lowtown Hawke goes to find a side alley covered in a green gas. After some fighting and closing off the gas barrels, Hawke comes face to face with the real thief and learns more about her motivations. Once all is done, Hawke returns to the Arishok to deliver the news–and to be given further insight into the Qunari occupation. Recorded raw in the field off coastal Alaska, this episode takes place hunting from the Venturess, a fishing/hunting boat operated by Alaska Premier Sportfishing. Even though we experienced constant rain, wind, and cold, our group of 7 hunters managed to take 4 great bears, plus our limit of halibut, rockfish, king salmon, and several yelloweye.  My daughter Sophie turned 12 on the boat, right after taking the biggest bear anyone in our family has ever shot! She dropped it with a perfect 251-yard shot after stalking up the Alaska coastline. Color me proud.  This is a long episode full of great stories and details of planning, gear selection, hunt methods, unexpected challenges, and of course rifle, cartridge, bullet, and optic selections.
