After last week's Klon, and the birth of boutique episode, I thought about what was my rig was back in the early 90s. Besides the original TS808, that is long gone, I still had all of the pedals I used, and even the plastic Boss BCB6 pedalboard that I used back then. I go through the board, giving a demo, and a bit of history including what they cost new, and what that would be adjusted for inflation now. You won't believe how much a Boss DD-2 would cost in today's dollars new!Gear Used:1982 Kubicki Tele body with Danocaster soft V maple neckGlaser B-Bender circa 1996APC Adder (Neck) Ron Ellis 60T (Bridge)Pick:Blue Chip TPR 35 RB Strings: Ernie Ball 10,13,15, 24, 32, 42. Derek sold him amp! Kind of… HX Stomp (stab: OE Revival) Digitech drop update. Standard guitar in an Eb band. (stab: Mathews The Architect) Righteous Tele update (Stab: 805) Gibson update (stab: JHS Unicorn) They released a statement FINALLY. They acknowledged that this is something they have to do but their tone was all wrong. Too little too late, and the actual statement still didn’t soften things much. Apparently they have threatened dealers with legal action unless they stop selling Dean guitars, alleges Dean. Earthquaker Devices Plumes (stab: WA Luminary) It’s a tube screamer with three clipping modes. Like a super baby Palisades. Symmetrical LED clipping, OpAmp distortion, Asymmetrical silicon diode clipping Level, tone, and gain controls. Relay based true bypass with momentary option. The real killer feature is that it’s $99. TS Mini is $79, TS9 is $99, TS808 is $179. Boutique pedal company getting in at those low prices. Cool! Discussion topic idea from fan-of-the-show Eric Giribaldi (stab: WA Plainsman) “What do you do when you reach a crossroads with your equipment?” As in, coming to terms with not needing 11 overdrive pedals, needs vs. wants. Guitarists are weird people. We want all the latest cool tech and big rigs, but also want the simplicity of grab-and-go, maybe some pedals, and an amp. Downsizing your set up. Chasing Tone - Guitar Podcast About Gear, Effects, Amps and Tone

Ibanez just came out with a tube based tubescreamer based on Korg’s new Nutube technology. Brian and Blake discuss the new pedal and the tech behind it. Brian recently released a video about differences in Tubescreamers. How there really isn’t any. It started a firestorm on the social medias. He and Blake rip the band-aid off the wound. People asks why some “simple circuit” pedals cost so much. But there are a lot of layers in the cost of making a pedal or any gear. The guys talk about it. Blake is not a fan of tube based pedals AND he is getting rid of all his fuzz pedals, micro-sized components, and is Amazon getting into the pedal game? All this in this weeks Chasing Tone Podcast.
