Dr. Sarah Thomas says AI is a creativity amplifier — a tool that gives teachers back their time so they can do the work only humans can do. In this episode of the 10 Minute Teacher Podcast, Dr. Sarah Thomas — founder of EduMatch and a Regional Technology Coordinator — reframes artificial intelligence as a creativity amplifier rather than a replacement for human thinking. We talk about what she actually automates, how to use AI ethically with students, and why staying pro-human matters more than ever. In this episode, you'll learn: Why AI works best as a creativity amplifier that frees up your time The "big rocks" to protect first: COPPA, FERPA, and student data (PII) How to move teachers from fear to confidence with AI The 80/20 rule for verifying AI output — and the "find the lie in AI" classroom game Why a robot will never replace the relationship at the heart of teaching Full show notes and links: https://www.coolcatteacher.com/e937 If this episode helped you, leave a review wherever you're listening and share it with a teacher friend. If you've ever watched someone stumble through explaining what they do - or caught yourself doing it - this episode is for you. The ability to communicate your ideas clearly isn't a nice-to-have. It's the difference between being good at what you do and being known for it. For senior leaders, consultants, and founders, that gap is often where opportunity gets lost.Andrea Pacini runs Ideas On Stage UK and has spent 16 years coaching business leaders - including over 500 TEDx speakers - to become more confident, more effective communicators. His new book, Timeless Presenter, draws on principles that have worked for 2,000 years and will keep working regardless of what AI does next.Three areas we explored:✳️ Nerves before a presentation are normal - the best antidote isn't confidence tricks, it's preparation. As Kobe Bryant put it, confidence comes from having done something a thousand times before.✳️ Every presentation is a sales presentation - whether you're pitching a product or updating colleagues on a project, you are always asking someone to buy in to an idea. If you can't make clear why they should care, they probably have a point.✳️ AI makes human communication more valuable, not less. Because everyone can now produce polished content with minimal effort, the people who show up with authenticity, story, and connexion will stand out even more.Andrea's Amplifiers - three things you can apply straight away:✳️ Know your 1% - your audience will forget 90% of what you say. Be ruthlessly clear about the one big idea you want them to walk away with. If you don't have that clarity, they won't either.✳️ Raise the quality of your examples - the fastest way to improve as a communicator is to use better stories and examples. Stop leading with facts and data. Wrap your ideas in something human and memorable.✳️ Simplify without dumbing down - complex topics don't require complex language. If you can only explain something in jargon, you haven't mastered it yet. Use the shortest, clearest word that does the job.If this episode gave you something useful, the best thing you can do is follow or subscribe so you never miss a conversation. Podcast #1254: Review - WiiM Amp Multiroom Streaming Amplifier

HDTV and Home Theater Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later May 22, 2026 37:23

In this week's show we do a review of the WiiM Amp Multiroom Streaming Amplifier but first,  we read your emails and take a look at the week's news. News: Tubi Will Stream The 2026 FIFA World Cup For Free Roku launching new creator-driven content channels, hub Disney+ to join Hulu in streaming top music festivals Streaming Bundles Offsetting Rising Subscription Costs WiiM Amp: Multiroom Streaming Amplifier As you know Ara just completed a set of speakers built from salvaged MDF and brand new components from Dayton Audio. The speakers sound excellent and will end up being a part of Ara's whole home audio system in Tennessee. The only issue is that these speakers are passive and need an amplifier. So to drive them Ara is using the WiiM Amp Streaming amplifier which runs for about $300 at Amazon. This WiiM amp is an all-in-one device that combines a high-quality streamer, ESS Sabre DAC, and Class D amplifier into one cool looking box. It's perfect for "just add speakers" simplicity with great performance, especially at this pricepoint.  Key Features Power Output: 60W  8 ohms DAC: ESS Sabre ES9018 HyperStream, supports up to 24-bit/192kHz hi-res audio Streaming & Connectivity: AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Amazon Music, Qobuz, DLNA, Bluetooth 5.1 (two-way), Wi-Fi, Ethernet Inputs: HDMI ARC (for TV), optical digital, analog RCA line-level, USB-A (for local files/drives) Outputs: Speaker binding posts, subwoofer RCA (with adjustable crossover) Controls: WiiM Home app (iOS/Android), included remote, voice control (Alexa built-in, works with Google/Siri) Other: 10-band graphic EQ + parametric EQ, room correction options, multi-room grouping with other WiiM devices, gapless playback Setup Setup was straightforward and took about ten minutes including the firmware upgrade done through the WiiM Home App. For Ara's setup it was, plug in power and connect the speakers and join the wifi network which was done through the WiiM Home app. Ara is not using a subwoofer but one can be added by using the sub out RCA connection. You can adjust the crossover in the app. The app is where you can select EQ, source, and do your multi-room configuration.  There is only one physical control that controls volume and doubles as play/pause. HDMI ARC makes it an excellent TV audio upgrade with minimal hassle. No complex wiring or external DAC needed. More on that in a bit. Sound Quality The WiiM Amp delivers clean, lively, and detailed sound at a reasonable price. It offers good clarity, solid bass control via the sub out.  Distortion is very low even at high levels of volume. We are not saying that using these with some KEF or SVS Towers is the way to go, but for small-to-medium spaces, or desktop setups, it sounds surprisingly good. Add to it that it can make any speaker work with Apple Airplay or Google Cast Audio and you have a relatively inexpensive way to build out a wireless whole home audio system.  The HDMI ARC support makes this a cost effective way to add a 2.1 speaker system to your TV. In this case the center channel is split evenly between the left and right speakers giving the perception that the audio is coming from the center, provided the speakers are not separated from the TV by a large distance.  We have a listener named John who is using the Wiim Amp Pro ($379 from Amazon with no Airplay support) in this manner with an SVS subwoofer and his quote is, "It's been working perfectly".  The only issue he had was with the EQ calibration. When it was set to cut and boost frequencies he would get audio dropouts. He did some experimenting and found that if he only cuts frequencies and does not boost them, the audio dropouts stopped.   Cool Features That Make It Worth $300 All-in-One Versatility — Streamer + DAC + amp in one small box (about the size of a small Mac mini).  HDMI ARC + Sub Out — Turns any TV into a better-sounding system and easily adds a subwoofer with crossover control. Advanced App EQ & Room Tools — 10-band graphic + parametric EQ plus presets let you fine-tune for your room/speakers. Multi-Room & Ecosystem — Group with other WiiM devices for whole-home audio; excellent service integration (Spotify/Tidal Connect, AirPlay 2, etc.). Other Extras — USB playback, two-way Bluetooth, and voice control,  Summary The WiiM Amp is an outstanding budget streaming amplifier that offers a lot of versatility, ease of use, and surprisingly good sound for the money. It's ideal for anyone wanting a simple, music or TV audio setup without complexity or high cost. While we don't recommend it for big rooms, it's perfect for desktop and bookshelf use, especially if you want to use Airplay 2 or Google Cast Audio. With all that said, Ara will probably never use the app again and simply connect to it via the Airplay 2 from his Mac and iOS devices.

What does it take to build a world-class engineering culture when you start with five engineers on minimum wage? Tommy Sullivan did exactly that at Vidio — and the team's average tenure of seven years tells you everything about whether it worked. In this episode, Tommy Sullivan, CTO of Vidio (Indonesia's largest streaming platform) shares how he built an engineering culture from almost nothing, growing a team of five to over two hundred using Extreme Programming principles and a relentless focus on hiring for attitude over aptitude. Tommy traces his journey from Pivotal Labs in San Francisco to the early days of Indonesia's tech boom, explaining why Vidio survived when well-funded competitors like Hooq and iFlix all shut down.Along the way, he gets into where AI has worked and where it has failed at Vidio, how the team is rethinking pair programming in the age of AI agents, what it takes to stream four terabytes per second during live events, and why protecting code quality is ultimately a culture problem, not a tooling one. The Level Testing Sales Amplifier: A Tiered System for Auto Repair Diagnostics [RR 1070]

Remarkable Results Radio Podcast

Thanks to our Partners, NAPA Auto Care and NAPA TRACS Watch Full Video Episode Eric Svedberg breaks down a smarter, more profitable way to price diagnostic work—what he calls the Level Testing Sales Amplifier. At its core, the system tackles a problem most repair shops quietly accept: testing is often a loss leader. When technicians are tied up diagnosing complex issues, shops miss out on parts sales. A-level technicians can earn less than their B-level counterparts doing routine work, and the rising cost of software and tools goes unpaid. Svedberg reframes the conversation by using the word “testing” instead of “diagnostics,” a term he believes is clearer and more intuitive for customers. Testing implies a process, not a guarantee—setting expectations from the start. The Level Testing system uses a tiered structure tied to the shop's base labor rate: Level One – Basic Testing:Single, constant, duplicable issues (like a check engine light that's always on).Level Two – Intermediate Testing:Multiple concerns or intermittent problems.Level Three – Pandora's Box:Highly complex vehicles, often previously misdiagnosed or unsuccessfully repaired elsewhere.Level Four – “Grandmother Rate”:Disaster cars involving severe electrical damage, corrosion, or major disassembly. While the levels are designed as an internal framework, Svedberg finds transparency with customers increases trust and buy-in. Service advisors are coached to remove Level Three from most conversations upfront, steer customers toward Level Two testing as the norm, and clearly explain that testing fees are for time spent—not credited toward repairs. For true Level Three cases, advisors frame the value honestly: if it were simple, another shop would have already fixed it. Svedberg emphasizes that the system is easy to train and implement—often within a week—by focusing on quick wins with top advisors. Its simplicity improves communication, closes the tech efficiency gap, and can be applied beyond diagnostics to services like module programming and ADAS calibration. Every decision, he says, must pass the test: Is it good for the car? Good for the customer? Good for the shop? What Bowling Reveals About Staying Consistent in Sales (Money Monday)

What Does a Perfect Bowling Game Have in Common With Top-Performing Sales Reps? Walk into a bowling alley on a Friday night, and you'll see a scene that looks like pure recreation. The crash of pins, the rumble of conversation, the squeak of shoes on the approach. But beneath all that noise is something far more serious: discipline, repetition, emotional control, and the relentless pursuit of mastery. That's the real game. And it's the exact game top performers play in sales. Selling rewards consistency, mental toughness, and the willingness to execute the fundamentals long after everyone else has checked out. When you break the sport of bowling down frame by frame, it mirrors what we teach every day at Sales Gravy. Fanatical Prospecting. Emotional control. Owning your process. Staying steady under pressure. Winning one shot at a time. Each frame reveals a truth about the way elite sellers think and operate. Frame 1: The Approach — Fanatical Prospecting In bowling, the shot starts before the ball ever moves. The routine is deliberate: same steps, same breath, same commitment. That's where consistency begins. In sales, your approach is prospecting. It's the moment you decide whether you're a professional or a hobbyist. Pros don't wait for a pipeline crisis. They build a non-negotiable daily rhythm of fanatical prospecting, exactly the way Jeb teaches it. “One more call. One more conversation. One more connection.” That mindset is your approach. That's the discipline that separates a bowler stepping onto the lane with purpose from the one sitting at the bar making excuses. You pick a target, commit, and move. Frame 2: The Lane — Owning Your Sales Process A lane looks the same every time, but it rarely plays the same. Oil patterns shift. Friction changes. Conditions evolve. Your sales process is no different. You can't control a buyer's internal politics or shifting priorities, but you can control how you move through your process. You can control your cadence, your discovery, your follow-up, and your commitment to advancing every opportunity with intention. Average sellers blame the lane. Pros read it. They ask better questions. They recognize where deals stall. They adjust without abandoning the fundamentals. The arrows exist to guide the ball; your process exists to guide you. Ignore it, and you drift straight into the gutter. Frame 3: The Ball — Your Message and the Triangle of Trust A bowler's ball is drilled to fit their hand, weighted for their style, and chosen for the conditions. Your ball is your message—your story, your questions, your ability to connect what you sell to what the buyer actually cares about. When you balance logic, emotion, and values, the ball rolls true. Most sellers throw the same generic pitch at every buyer. Pros tune their message. They refine their openings. They speak the buyer's language. Hit with too much emotion and no substance, you lose credibility. Hit with pure logic and no emotional relevance, you miss the pocket of influence. The goal is simple: strike emotion first, let logic clean up the rest. Frame 4: The Pins — Prospects, Objections, and Physics Pins obey physics. They aren't out to get you. Prospects are the same. Some fall quickly. Some require finesse. Some need a second shot. This is where many sellers unravel emotionally. They take objections personally. They turn one “no” into a story about themselves. Objections aren't judgment. They're feedback. “We're happy with our current vendor.” “Call me next quarter.” Objections are indicators, and tell you where your angle is off. Pros adjust. Ask a different question. Reframe the problem. Bring a story that hits harder. Then take another shot. The frame isn't over until you quit. Frame 5: The Shoes — Mindset and Emotional Control No one bowls in street shoes. You'll slip, lose balance, and go down hard. Your mindset is your pair of bowling shoes. Without emotional control, every call feels unstable. Every objection knocks you off center. Every tough moment spirals. Pros prepare their mind before they prepare their day. They visualize tough conversations. They decide how they'll respond to setbacks before they happen. They choose composure over reaction. A confident mind produces a confident delivery. Buyers feel both. Frame 6: The Equipment — Tech as an Amplifier, Not a Crutch Pros carry multiple balls, tape, tools—gear that helps them adjust and stay consistent. None of it bowls for them. Sales is full of tools too: CRMs, AI, sequencing engines, dialers. But tools only multiply effort. They never replace it. Weak sellers hide behind technology. Pros use it to increase conversations and stay organized. Tools help you understand the “oil pattern” of your territory. But at the end of the day, it's still you, a buyer, and a conversation. No technology closes deals for you. Frame 7: The Team — Culture and Accountability Bowling looks individual, but leagues win seasons. Behind every high average is a team pushing each other, challenging complacency, and celebrating progress. Sales is the same. Great cultures are built around coaching, accountability, and emotional safety. Teams share insights, review calls, and collaborate on tough deals. When someone hits a strike, everyone feels the lift. When someone struggles, the team rallies. You're competing, but you're not competing against each other. You're competing against your potential. Frame 8: The Scoreboard — Metrics and Truth The scoreboard doesn't lie. It doesn't care how busy you felt. It only reflects execution. Your sales scoreboard measures the same: dials, conversations, opportunities created, conversion rates. These numbers are feedback tools. High performers study them. They adjust mechanics, behavior, and cadence based on the data. You can't manage what you don't measure. Frame 9: The Follow-Through — Closing with Composure A bowler's follow-through is controlled and deliberate. The ball is gone, but the motion stays disciplined. Closing requires the same composure. Many sellers execute well early in the cycle. Then, at the moment of truth, they flinch. They rush. They soften.  Pros stay steady. They recap value clearly. They ask directly and confidently. They handle final concerns without panic. Closing is the natural output of a disciplined process. Frame 10: The Final Frame — Finishing Strong with Follow-Up The tenth frame separates casual bowlers from champions. Tired, under pressure, and out of margin for error, pros sharpen their focus. In sales, the tenth frame is follow-up. It's the week after the demo. The stalled proposal. The buyer who goes quiet. Most sellers mentally check out and tell themselves the wrong story: “If they wanted it, they'd call me.” Pros don't buy that lie. Deals are won in the follow-up—professional, relevant, value-driven persistence. That's where reliability is proven. The Game That Never Ends Sales doesn't have a perfect 300 game every time. Some days everything strikes clean. Some days you grind for spares. Some days the ball finds the gutter no matter how good your form feels. The separator is what you do next. Pros study the lane. They adjust their feet. They breathe. They get back on the approach and commit to the next shot with the same intensity as the first. So as you head into your day, think like a bowler playing the long game. Lace up your mindset. Respect your process. Choose your message with intention. Read your buyers the way pros read the lanes. Lean on your team. Track your scoreboard. And never cheat the follow-through. The pins are set. The lane is open. You've always got one more frame. Step up with purpose. Roll with confidence. And when in doubt, make one more call. Ready to take your sales game to the next frame? Build discipline, track your process, and crush your goals with the FREE Sales Gravy Goal Guide. Some days everything strikes clean. Some days, you grind for spares. Some days, the ball finds the gutter no matter how good your form feels.

Belonging doesn't need a crowd; one steady person or tiny space can hold you as you are after suicide loss.Journal prompt: “The kind of space where I breathe easier is… and one way I'll find/ask for it is…”What we mean by “tiny space” (so we're clear): A tiny space is low-pressure, consent-based, and specific—a container that fits your current capacity. Examples:One-to-one check-in: 20 minutes, cameras off, “no fixing—just listening.”Micro-circle: 2–4 people with a start/stop time and one norm (no advice, confidentiality).Quiet co-presence: a phone call while you both walk; sitting together in silence; texting during a hard appointment. Name where, how long, and what it is/not. Small and clear beats big and vague.A Flicker (Hope) — One steady person A single safe presence can change a room. Notice how your breath shifts when you're with them.To Rebuild (Healing) — Choose your container Find: a grief-savvy meetup, online circle, or support group. Pair: weekly 10–20 minute check-ins with one steady person. Host: a 30-minute “quiet tea” or walk with simple norms.Take a Step (Becoming) — Make the micro-ask Send one message: “Want to try a 20-minute check-in on Tuesdays? No fixing—just company.” Or: “Quiet tea Sunday? 30 minutes, arrive/leave as you need.”Choose-your-energy menu:Hollow (low): Hollow — List two names of steady people. That's it.Healing (medium): Healing — Send one check-in invite with a simple time window.Becoming (higher): Becoming — Post or schedule a tiny gathering with clear, gentle norms.Food for Thought Today: Community isn't a rescue; it's resonance. When your truth is witnessed without rush or advice, capacity returns—and with it, room to become.Exhale. Keep what serves you; leave the rest. I'll be here again tomorrow.

This replaces days of grunt work and eliminates procrastination.Better, Faster First DraftsBy feeding AI your raw ideas, or even transcripts of past content, you can get a cohesive outline or polished script in seconds. Your human team will love you for showing up with clarity and focus.Turning Reflection into a SuperpowerDan views AI as a feedback machine that reminds you of your best stories and greatest strengths. Think of it as a living, dynamic mirror that knows your achievements—empowering you to leverage them now.How AI Frees Your Mind (Not Replaces It)Rather than being “less busy,” Mike uses AI to become more effective. No more friction or mental blocks—just hyper-fast iteration. That kind of momentum can transform your entrepreneurial life.Building Your Future Self from Your PastDan's big revelation: “The more you reuse the best parts of your past, the more you know about your future.” AI accelerates that discovery by surfacing hidden strengths and forgotten wins so you can deploy them now.Synthetic StorytellingTools like Invideo can create fully AI-generated videos—characters, voiceovers, animations. This is ideal for first-draft narratives, brand stories, and even personal “mini-documentaries.” You'll never look at content creation the same way again.Therapy…or a Fast-Track to Knowing Yourself?“Knowing how to be who you actually are” can eclipse years of therapy. By reconstructing your journey—failures, comebacks, and big wins—you craft a narrative that not only sells your offer but also reaffirms who you truly are.TIME STAMPS[00:00:00] AI as a New Team Member Mike explains how AI tools crush procrastination and free him to focus on creative (and profitable) work.[00:01:35] Seeing Your Future Through Your Past Dan observes how AI helps entrepreneurs “mine” their personal histories for gold, ultimately boosting confidence.[00:03:46] Game-Changing Tools A live demonstration of OpenAI's Operator, pulling reviews and descriptions of Dan's books automatically into a Google Doc.[00:08:00] Reinventing Marketing & Research Mike shares how AI is like having an on-demand MBA researcher—immediate, iterative, and personalized.[00:18:06] Why Tech Can't Match Human Complexity Dan reveals his new book idea: “Technology Is Trying Hard to Keep Up”—an argument about the unmatched power of human consciousness.[00:30:10] Synthetic Videos & Brand Story Mike showcases Invideo, an AI tool that generates entire mini-documentaries—voiceovers, characters, and all—from just a script.[00:40:38] Your Past as Your Biggest Asset Dan dives into how collecting your “best-of” stories—and weaving them into marketing—can be more powerful than therapy.[00:50:04] The Future-Self Amplifier A final note on how combining your own internal breakthroughs with AI's external capabilities is the real formula for 10x progress. If you're ready to harness cutting-edge Ai (without losing your humanity or your personal story), this episode is your roadmap.
