On Butterflies of Wisdom today, Best-Selling Author, Win C welcomes Alexa Maxey. Alexa is a mother, student, and podcaster. She is the co-host and producer of the You Can Rewind It podcast. She has recently returned to college to study radio broadcasting. Alexa and her husband/co-host Brock are currently living in Northern Colorado with their two daughters ages thirteen and seven. Alexa graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1997 with a BA in Communications. From there, she worked various jobs in the insurance, and advertising/sales industry. She worked as a police officer in Arlington, Texas for four years before deciding to stay home and care for her to two daughters. In 2015, on her 40th birthday, Alexa decided to go back to school to further her studies in communications, specifically radio. It was in those classes that she discovered Podcasting. She launched You Can Rewind It in December of 2016. In this Podcast, she and her husband watch movies from their childhood and discuss whether they still like them today. In 2017, Alexa was awarded the 1st place Audio Production award in the Two-Year/ Small College Division at the BEA Festival of Media Arts for her piece “Finding Healing, Choosing Joy.” This was a narrative interview with a woman who had a stroke when she was nine months pregnant, and despite what she was going through, she made the decision to choose joy for the sake of her daughter.
