“We voted Brexit and all we got was this lousy podcast…” Ten years since the vote that sent Britain round the bend, could we finally break out of the trap of 2016? We're joined by the Obi Wan Kenobi of Brexit bloggers Chris Grey to look into the enormity of Pandora's Referendum. In a world so violently changed from 2016, is there hope for Britain to get back into the EU? Despite populism, are the stars aligning for the UK and the EU? And should anyone serious about reuniting Britain and the EU be talking about joining, not rejoining? As Raf says: “With a bit of political courage we could be in a very different debate.” • Want more on Brexit? As we sadly file away that ‘Keep Keir And Carry On' headline in the bottom drawer… Keir Starmer steps down and our panel look at what the Starmer era really means. Are we now in a world where petty politics will always trump service to country? Why was this decent, vaguely boring man so loathed in the country? Does this public bloodletting help or hinder Labour's existential battle against Reform? And why can't Britain hang on to its Prime Ministers? We're joined by Chris Grey, the don of Brexit bloggers to discuss it all. This is a special two-part split edition, enabling us to get you the Farewell to Keir Starmer portion of the pod as fast as possible. Be here tomorrow as our panel “celebrate” ten years of the Brexit Referendum that pitched Britain into a psychodrama it still can't escape. • Read Chris Grey's blog Brexit and Brexitism • Pre-order Jonn's new book 31 Inventions That Made Our World through our affiliate bookshop and you'll help fund the podcast by earning us a small commission for every sale. Our fast reaction to Burnham's victory in Makefield with the don of political commentators Steve Richards of Rock & Roll Politics talking to Andrew Harrison… Andy Burnham is heading back to Westminster after his landslide victory and despite dire warnings of a Reform surge, it wasn't even close. After an early-morning celebratory pint, is he now on a fast track for the keys to No. 10? Should Keir Starmer fight or throw in the towel? Is Burnham's coronation now inevitable? Most creatives know that beliefs are holding them back. Some can articulate them, analyse them, even replace them with supposedly empowering alternatives. Yet the behaviour often remains unchanged, and the resistance stubbornly intact. Surprise, surprise! The arson attacks on properties linked to Keir Starmer turn out to have been instigated by a Russian “diplomat” with a background in information warfare. Who'd have thought it? Has Vladimir Putin's shadow war finally crossed the line? Plus: Wes Streeting wants to scrap the ban on new fossil fuel production. The Greens are looking less green. The Lib Dems appear indifferent. "Driven" gets thrown around like a compliment, but the fuel under the drive matters more than the drive itself. Some leaders run on purpose; others run on anxiety and fear — and from the outside, they look the same. In this episode, Chad shares how to tell anxiety-driven leadership from purpose-driven leadership, and why one of them gets you there while wrecking the engine. Labour surprises everyone with a ban on Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X for the under-16. Critics say the “Australia Plus” regime is riddled with contradictions. Will it work, is it fair or is it just Starmer trying to look tough ahead of the Makerfield by-election? Andrew Harrison puts Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson on the spot and then our panel dig into the detail. Abortion is often framed as the cornerstone of women's rights. But what if that framing is not only mistaken, but actively harmful to women? In this episode of the Libertarian Christian Podcast, Kerry Baldwin argues that biology and a proper understanding of justice from a libertarian perspective lead us inevitably to the conclusion that abortion doesn't protect women's rights.Baldwin challenges the dominant narrative by showing how abortion arguments routinely erase women's agency, misidentify the aggressor in cases like rape (hint: it's not the unborn child), and rely on analogies that collapse under scrutiny. She also explains why fetal self‑ownership is not a threat to women but a necessary component of a consistent rights framework. You'll have to listen to the episode for her full argument, but here's a few reasons why abortion doesn't protect women's rights.Audio Production by Podsworth Media - https://podsworth.com ★ Support this podcast ★

Farage and the far-right have been quick to seize on Henry Nowak's horrific murder, ignoring pleas from the victim's family for the killing not to be politicised. Most Americans trace "separation of church and state" to Thomas Jefferson. If he hadn't passed away in 1995, Murray Rothbard would have turned one hundred this year. Why do his ideas still endure, inspire, and provoke? The answer isn't nostalgia. It's that Rothbard's ideas continue to shape libertarian thought, economics, and the case for a free society in ways few thinkers ever have. His influence is visible in the modern liberty movement, in the resurgence of Austrian economics, and in the ongoing debates about property, the state, and intellectual freedom.Stephan Kinsella, himself a friend and ally of Rothbard disciple Hans-Hermann Hoppe, joins Cody Cook to explain why Rothbard's legacy endures. The episode argues that Rothbard still matters because he built a framework that remains indispensable for understanding political economy, human action, and the moral limits of state power.Audio Production by Podsworth Media - https://podsworth.com Use code LCI50 for 50% off your first order at Podsworth.com to clean up your voice recordings and also support LCI!Full Podsworth Ad Read BEFORE & AFTER processing:https://youtu.be/vbsOEODpQGs ★ Support this podcast ★

A lot of leaders confuse managing with micromanaging—and some use the confusion as cover for not managing at all. In this episode, Chad helps identify when good managing goes too far and becomes micromanaging and when avoidance of micromanaging goes too far and become poor managing. Christians in the West are often unsure how to think about Islam. Some fear it. Some ignore it. Others assume that polite silence is the path of peace. But should Christians fear Islam, especially when confronted with radical expressions of the faith, rising tensions in Europe, and the growing cultural pressure to avoid “offending” anyone? This episode argues that fear is the wrong response. Jay Smith, a veteran Christian polemicist who has spent decades engaging Muslims in London, India, Africa, and across Europe, makes the case that Christians should not retreat from Islam but confront it with clarity, courage, and confidence in the gospel. His experience with radical Muslims, free‑speech battles, and the theological roots of Islamic expansion offers a direct challenge to Western timidity.Audio Production by Podsworth Media - https://podsworth.com Use code LCI50 for 50% off your first order at Podsworth.com to clean up your voice recordings and also support LCI!Full Podsworth Ad Read BEFORE & AFTER processing:https://youtu.be/vbsOEODpQGs ★ Support this podcast ★

What if the biggest obstacle to understanding Christianity is not disbelief—but modernity itself? In this episode, Buck chats with Dr. Zachary Porcu to discuss sacramental Christianity, the modern secular mindset, and why so many people today—even Christians—struggle to see reality the way the ancient Church did. They explore the difference between treating Christianity as a system of ideas versus participating in it as a lived reality. The conversation dives into the nature of truth, the problem of interpretation, the meaning of the Trinity, the Fall of man, suffering, evil, and why the sacramental worldview of historic Christianity feels so foreign to the modern mind. They also discuss the necessity of the Church, the priesthood, the sacraments, and why Christianity cannot be reduced to either "just me and my Bible" or vague spirituality detached from embodied worship and communion. IN THIS EPISODE * Why modern people misunderstand Christianity * The difference between text-based and sacramental Christianity * The meaning of "participatory" truth * The Trinity and the problem of "the one and the many" * Why modern culture struggles to understand love * The deeper meaning of the Fall * The origins of evil and suffering * Problems with modern Christian views of suffering * The necessity of the Church and priesthood * Why sacraments are more than symbols * Where the Bible fits within the life of the Church * Recovering a sacramental view of reality ABOUT DR. ZACHARY PORCU Zachary Porcu is the author of Journey to Reality and the host of the podcast The Roots of Everything. Zachary earned his PhD in Church History at The Catholic University of America under the direction of Robin Darling Young. He holds additional degrees in Philosophy, Classics, and Interdisciplinary Humanities and has taught Greek, Latin, history, philosophy, and theology at private schools and universities on both the East and West coasts. In this episode, Doug Stuart and Cody Cook explore the biblical concept of holiness—not as a measure of personal righteousness, but as something fundamentally "set apart" for God's purposes. Through careful examination of Old Testament etymology and New Testament theology, they reveal how holiness shifts from external separation (dietary laws, physical places) to internal transformation and separation from worldly systems of power. For Christian libertarians, this theological framework challenges comfortable assumptions about political involvement and participation in state power.Audio Production by Podsworth Media - https://podsworth.com Use code LCI50 for 50% off your first order at Podsworth.com to clean up your voice recordings and also support LCI!Full Podsworth Ad Read BEFORE & AFTER processing:https://youtu.be/vbsOEODpQGs ★ Support this podcast ★

In this episode, James Webb and I discuss the lessons America failed to carry forward from past wars, and why institutional memory seems to fade so quickly. We get into the current geopolitical landscape, including Israel, Iran, and the risks of escalation—and what's often left out of mainstream narratives. Jim breaks down how war is actually decided at the highest levels, and why the gap between leadership and the average citizen continues to widen. We also explore the role of moral language in war—how concepts like "good" and "evil" are used, and sometimes misused, in shaping public support. From there, the conversation turns deeper: the spiritual and psychological cost of war, what it does to the people who fight it, and whether modern society has any real framework for dealing with that kind of weight. Finally, we ask the question at the center of it all: If a nation loses its relationship to truth—what is left to die for? ABOUT THE GUEST James (Jim) Webb is a third-generation Marine who, following his service, has worked in policy, politics, and journalism. In 2005, he dropped out of college to enlist in the Marine Corps Infantry and fought in the Battle of Ramadi from 2006–2007. After completing his degree, Jim worked on Capitol Hill for U.S. Senator Rand Paul, where he served on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He later worked at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft and as a Senior Policy Advisor for presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Jim has also worked as a journalist for multiple outlets, including embedding with U.S. troops across Afghanistan. Get the new Counterflow T-shirt before it sells out! Doug sits down with Robert Bortins, CEO of Classical Conversations and co-author of Woke and Weaponized: How Karl Marx Won the Battle for American Education and How We Can Win It Back. The conversation moves from Robert's personal homeschooling story to the philosophical roots of classical Christian education, then traces how collectivist thinkers — from Robert Owen to Horace Mann to John Dewey to B.F. Skinner — engineered the modern American school system to separate children from their families and undermine Christian and libertarian foundations. Robert makes the case that compulsory government schooling is incompatible with both Scripture and liberty, and offers practical first steps for parents ready to walk away from it.Audio Production by Podsworth Media - https://podsworth.com Use code LCI50 for 50% off your first order at Podsworth.com to clean up your voice recordings and also support LCI!Full Podsworth Ad Read BEFORE & AFTER processing:https://youtu.be/vbsOEODpQGs ★ Support this podcast ★

We're living in a moment where everyone is "doing the work"—therapy, healing, boundaries, trauma language—and yet people seem more anxious, unstable, and internally fragmented than ever. In this episode, Fr. Turbo Qualls joins me to challenge the assumptions behind modern mental health culture and to ask a deeper question: are we misdiagnosing spiritual problems as psychological ones? We get into the difference between trauma and the passions, where therapy can be helpful—and where it quietly falls short—and how certain modern practices can drift into spiritually dangerous territory when they're detached from the life of the Church. We also discuss why the Orthodox tradition emphasizes repentance over self-focus, how confession differs from therapy, and what real healing actually looks like—not as self-optimization, but as transformation. If you've ever felt like you're doing everything right but still feel stuck, this conversation goes beneath the surface. OINTMENT is a conference and movement centered on healing the soul through the life of the Church. At a time when "healing" is often reduced to self-focus and psychological frameworks, OINTMENT aims to reorient people toward repentance, ascetic struggle, and communion with God as the true path to restoration. The conference brings together Orthodox clergy, teachers, and speakers to address topics like spiritual illness, the passions, modern therapy culture, and what it means to actually be healed—not just feel better. It's designed for people who sense that something is missing in the modern conversation around mental health and are looking for something deeper, more grounded, and ultimately more transformative. In this episode, I talk with Darryl Cooper, host of the Martyr Made Podcast, and cohost of the Provoked Podcast (with Scott Horton as well) to talk about war, power, and the unseen forces shaping both. With a background as a Navy Aegis technician and a decade as a DOD engineer, Darryl brings a unique perspective on leadership, influence, and the gap between narrative and reality. We get into his evolving views on political power, the danger of losing moral clarity in the pursuit of "understanding," and why history is often more complicated—and more uncomfortable—than people want to admit. We also talk about something deeper: spiritual warfare. Darryl shares how his conversion to Orthodox Christianity changed the way he sees the world—not just politically or historically, but spiritually. Because at a certain point, you realize this isn't just about what's happening out there. There's a battle happening beneath it all. About Darryl Cooper Darryl Cooper is the host of the Martyr Made Podcast, and cohost of the Provoked Podcast. His MartyrMade show is known for long-form, narrative-driven explorations of history and culture. He previously served 10 years in the U.S. Navy as an Aegis fire control technician and spent another decade as a Department of Defense engineer.
