On this first episode of Random Encounter for 2025, Jono is missing, and it's up to the panel to find him!Just kidding; we aren't a semi-educational game from the 1990s. Jono has bronchitis this week, so it's up to the brand-new full-time host of Retro Encounter, Zach Wilkerson, to fill in for him!Joining Zach is Neal, who is chatting about the recent remake of one of the first RPG indie hits ever: Breath of Death VII: The Beginning: Reanimated. Released on Xbox Live Arcade back in 2011, Zeboyd Games' original Breath of Death VII delivered a fun, retro-style JRPG with nostalgic 8-bit graphics. This remake updates the visuals to stunning 16-bit while also delivering a brand-new soundtrack from HyperDuck SoundWorks! Does this remake live up to the original?Audra is also joining the panel to chat about the Ace Attorney-inspired adventure Paper Perjury. With delightfully pixelated graphics and compelling mysteries galore, did Paper Perjury have Audra standing up, pointing her finger, and screaming "Objection?"Featuring: Zach Wilkerson, Audra Bowling, and Neal Chandran; Edited by Jono LoganGet in Touch:RPGFan.comRPGFan ShopEmail us: podcast@rpgfan.comTwitter: @rpgfancomBluesky: @rpgfan.bsky.socialInstagram: @rpgfancomThreads: @rpgfancomFacebook: rpgfancomTwitch: rpgfancomThis Episode's Related Links:Breath of Death VII: The Beginning: Reanimated ReviewBreath of Death VII: The Beginning ReviewPaper Perjury Review

Christmas needs to be saved and there's only one dark cosmic anthropoid entity for the job! Nicky and Eric join forces with Cthulhu to save Christmas! Cthulhu Saves Christmas is a retro-style RPG video game from indie developer Zeboyd Games. A tongue-in-cheek parody of the Cthulhu Mythos, Cthulhu must save Santa Clause in order to restore his powers, so he can destroy the world. Press Any Button hosts Nicky (a new gamer) and Eric (a lifetime gamer) are a married couple who both love video games. For every video game they will discuss its past (history of the game, developers story, and fun facts), present (game play, game review and strategy), and future (will there be a sequel?? A movie?)  BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE… Every game also comes with a challenge presented by the host that chose the game. If the challenge is not completed then whoever failed has to do a video game rap! So if you want to learn more about video games, hear some nerdy video game raps, or just have a good time this is the podcast for you. We try to cover all types of video games including: Retro and New video games Playstation, Nintendo, Xbox, Sega, and PC games Any and all genres including RPG, Simulation, Beat em up, platforming, mystery, first person shooter, sandbox, puzzle, action adventure, etc. Follow us on  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pressanybutton_podcast Credits: Nicky Smith Eric Luedtke Music by Mark Spurlock References: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJHCX8zdRNg https://indiegamerchick.com/2012/03/30/breath-of-death-vii-and-cthulhu-saves-the-world/ https://lovecraft.fandom.com/wiki/Cthulhu_Saves_Christmas https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeboyd_Games http://zeboyd.com/about/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Lovecraft/comments/orwik8/cthulhu_saves_christmas_noel_in_rlyeh/?rdt=41471 https://www.afar.com/magazine/stranger-than-santa-europes-most-unusual-christmas-characters

On this episode of Random Encounter, Jono and Michael Sollosi team up to speak with the gang behind Zeboyd Games about their latest title: This Way Madness Lies!Robert Boyd and William Stiernberg at Zeboyd Games have been turning out innovative indie RPGs since Breath of Death VII: The Beginning in 2010. And in their latest release, This Way Madness Lies, they improbably mash up the popular Japanese anime genre of Magical Girls with the works of the English Bard himself, William Shakespeare! Somehow, Robert and Bill managed to take some time out of their hectic release-week schedule to sit down and talk with us about the origins of the game, its development, and where Zeboyd might be going from here!Featuring: Jono Logan, Michael Sollosi, Robert Boyd, William Stiernberg; Edited by Jono LoganGet in Touch:RPGFan.comRPGFan ShopEmail us: podcast@rpgfan.comTwitter: @rpgfancomInstagram: @rpgfancomFacebook: rpgfancomTwitch: rpgfancomThis Episode's Related Links:Zeboyd 2022 Reddit AMAThis Way Madness Lies Review

When left to their own devices, Nintendo Free Radio can sometimes make magic. This is one of those days. For the third year in a row, we were proud to do it live for the kids. Our original concept was to check out a few Kickstarters and see if they would be worth backing, with the help of Robert Boyd of Zeboyd Games, a Kickstarter veteran and observer. The best laid plans went astray, and we only got to do one of them. But that's fine, since the questions asked provided enough information that you can be more informed when looking at these projects on your own.As of press time, we've raised $6,135 for Child's Play, and there's still time to donate if you're seeing this before November 15. And Donald's thrown out a stretch goal beyond what's on the page, so GET DONATING if you haven't already!Special thanks to Karl Castenada for getting this show out so quickly.
