As Pastor Kent brings his sermon series "iChoose" to a close, he points to 5 things we are not to serve. While the previous episodes focused on choosing to serve God, he digresses with this end note to highlight what we are called not to serve. We are not to serve: (1) Other gods (2) Satan (3) Mammon (4) Sin (5) Ourselves.
Pastor Kent continues with his sermon series "iChoose". He goes back to Joshua 24:14-18 where Joshua challenged the Children of Israel to "Choose ye this day whom you shall serve." After recapping some of what was shared in the previous session, Pastor Kent delves in to identify some key principles for serving God as a leader. These principles include being an example, the principle of shepherding, stewardship, having the right attitude and faithfulness, to name a few.
Pastor Kent Jacob continues with his sermon series "iChoose". He goes back to Joshua 24:14-18 where Joshua challenged the Children of Israel to "Choose ye this day whom you shall serve." In this instalment, Pastor Kent identifies what it means to serve God. He says that serving God is: (1.) An expression or outworking of our love for God (2.) Evidence of our growth and maturity in Christ (3.) Deliberate actions and intentions that respond to our revelation of God. Pastor Kent further used various Bible passages to outline that serving God includes obedience, submission, self-sacrifice, faith and love.
Every day we make choices in life. It has been said that the quality of our life is determined by the quality of our choices. Pastor Kent Jacob ministers from Joshua 24:14-18 where Joshua puts to the Children of Israel an important choice that they had to make, "Choose ye this day whom you shall serve." Their options were: 1. serving the gods of their fathers. 2. Serving the gods of the land in which they lived. 3. Serving Jehovah God in sincerity and truth. Joshua declared to the people his personal choice, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord". Pastor Kent causes us to examine the three options within the context of our lives today.
Pastor Kent Jacob continues with his special series on the Holy Spirit. In this episode he focuses again on the work of the Holy Spirit in the church. "But you shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you and you shall be witnesses of me..." Acts 1:8. This power is not for the purpose of self glorification, praise and personal elevation. The power of the Holy Spirit comes to the church to glorify Christ and causes us to effectively testify of Him. Pastor Kent further looks at the events surrounding the birth of the church on the day of Pentecost, and what followed that special experience. 3000 souls were saved and baptised that very night; And they continued steadfastly in the Apostles' Doctrine. As Pastor Kent closes, he makes a passionate appeal for us, as the church, to return to the Apostles' Doctrine.
Pastor Kent Jacob continues his teaching series on The Holy Spirit. This time he looks at the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church -- Birthing, Teaching and Keeping. He says that the Holy Spirit gave birth to the Church. It is first of all through the Spirit of the Father that Peter was able to testify that Jesus is the Christ the Son of the Living God. The Spirit uses the Word of God to bring conviction in our heart and causes us to believe in Christ Jesus. He further cause there to be that inner witness that we are children of God.
Jesus’ resurrection is critical to our Christian faith. As Christians it is very important that we understand and believe that Jesus died, was buried and rose from the dead. In fact, our very salvation is hinged on us having the assurance of this. Each of the Gospel writers (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) documented, not only the death of Christ, but also the astounding miracle of His resurrection. The Biblical narrative attests to His resurrection by providing sufficient accounts of eyewitnesses who saw the risen Christ — more than 500 persons are recorded to have seen the risen Christ. Additionally, there is the tomb, in Jerusalem, that remains empty. While the resurrection of Christ is historical it must also have practical application to our lives. Pastor Kent Jacob takes a look at the practical significance of the resurrection of Christ.

Many of us face significant challenges in life. Some of these challenges can be referred to as "storms". They are difficult to face: the harsh winds blow against us, torrential rains pound on us, the waves toss us to and fro. In these times we find it difficult to hear God. We sometimes think that God is silent throughout our storm. In this sermon series Pastor Kent Jacob emphasizes the need to distinguish the voice of God in the midst of our storm. He gives potent principles that would help us weather the storms of life with grace and confidence in the presence of Christ.
Pastor Kent Jacob continues with his sermon series, "Hearing God in the Midst of the Storm". In this episode he asserts that in spite of how challenging the storm may appear to be, we must know that the Lord is in the midst of the storm with us. Knowing this would give us the assurance that Christ would take us through the storm. There are times when we are faced with difficulties and we do not feel the presence of God with us. However, even in these times, even when we feel so overwhelmed in the situation, we must be assured that Christ is still in the midst with us. Nothing can seperate us from the love of Christ Jesus.
Moses was called to lead God's people. As he contemplated the journey he was to embark on, he pleaded with God not to allow him to go if His (God) presence was not going with him. Moses further asked for God to show him His glory. In acceding to Moses' request God did not only allow Moses the distinct honour of seeing His presence, he also outlined to Moses His attributes. In this message Pastor Kent Jacob highlights the importance and benefits of desiring the presence of God above everything else in life. He shows how Jesus, as the son of God is the Glory of God revealed. Pastor Kent further observes that by grace through faith, we are connected to the glory of God.
In this first segment of the sermon series, "Advancing the Kingdom", Pastor Kent Jacob seeks to outline what is meant by the term, "The Kingdom of God". He says that the Kingdom of God is basically the rulership of God - God's domain. Personally, it is being surrendered to the lordship of Christ. It is not about religion and religious activity. The Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17). We are ushered into God's Kingdom through the grace of God as expressed in the person of Christ Jesus.

Pastor Kent Jacob continues with the theme Advancing the Kingdom. In this episode he compares the Kingdom of God with the kingdoms of this world. This world and the things of this world are under the governance of the devil. The power and the glory of this world are in the charge of the enemy and he delivers it to those who submit themselves to him. We are advised, however, that the Kingdom of God is not of this world. We are not to be conformed to this world but we are to be conformed to the image of Christ.
Pastor Kent Jacob goes into the book of John chapter nine to look at Jesus’ encounter with a man who was born blind. Jesus spit on the ground and made a paste and applied it to the man’s eye, then sent him to wash. The man received his miracle. The Pharisees were not pleased. Pastor Kent takes up the account from verse 23 to 41 where, the Pharisees, unable to refute this notable miracle, put the man out of the synagogue. Jesus finds the man and reveals that he (Jesus) is the Son of God. Jesus further outlines that he has come to give sight to the blind. From this account we identify not only the physically blind but also those blind spirituality. Pastor Kent further highlights that there are two types of spiritually blind: those who know they are blind and those who are unaware of their blindness. True sight comes from believing in Christ Jesus. Those who believe shall see. While the world may conclude that seeing is believing, we understand that the converse to be true: believing is seeing.
Pastor Kent Jacob continues with the two-part sermon series entitled "I Was Blind But Now I See". In this episonde, which is subtitled "Through the Eyes of Faith", he emphasizes that as Believers in Jesus Christ, we are not directed by our natural sight. There are things that our natural eyes cannot behold-- at least not yet. In order for these things to be realised we must adopt radical faith. Pastor Kent goes on to share from the word of God: (1) what is faith; (2) how faith is developed; (3) how the devil tries to blind our minds so that we won't gain the right knowledge and understanding of God's word to build our faith. We must see beyond that which is natural! For we walk by faith, not by sight. This message encourages us to intentionally do what is required to build our faith.
As Pastor Kent Jacob continues with the sermon series, Advancing the Kingdom, he adds this message entitled, “The Gospel of the Kingdom”. Here he builds on the understanding that the Gospel, or good news, of the Kingdom of God is the message of Jesus Christ. John the Baptist came to introduce Christ, saying, “Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand”. Christ himself came with the same message initially – “Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand”. Man was created to have dominion in the earth. However, with the fall, man lost his authority in the earth. Satan was elevated to be the prince of the world. Nonetheless, Christ’s came to enable us to live according to the divine mandate that was lost in the Garden of Eden. We are to be an expression of God’s Kingdom in the earth. When we truly understand who we are in Christ and the battle that was won on Calvary’s cross, we won’t allow ourselves to be deceived by the lies of the enemy. We are heirs of the Kingdom, together with Christ. This is good news. This is the Gospel of the Kingdom.
Pastor Kent Jacob goes to 1 John 4:1-6 to examine the teachings of the Apostle John who has given warning concerning things that are to come. The apostle warns us "do not believe every spirit". Pastor Kent goes on to express that we are not to think that every spirit that operates in the church is true--Many false prophets are gone out there is a spirit behind every doctrine; every teaching; every revelation. For this reason, John warns to TRY EVERY SPIRIT - Test; Evaluate; Prove to be true He identifies 5 tests: 1. Confess the incarnation of Christ 2. Overcome the World (vs. 4,5) 3. Continue in the Apostles Doctrine 4. Love 5. The Spirit of God (vs. 13)
Pastor Kent A Jacob goes into Proverbs 4:1-15 to highlight the call of fathers to be an instructor and a guide to our children. "Fathers stand as a junction between the past and the future" he says. We are being challenged to raise the bar--raise the standard--for our children, to protect them from the venomous attacks of the serpent who is lying in wait to devour any, who breaks the hedge. This is a must-hear word for any man not only fathers.
Pastor Kent Jacob ministers from the theme, "Provision in Your Assignment". In this message he looks at the encounter with Elijah and shows us three necessary requirements for success in our divinely appointed assignment. (1.) He emphasized the importance hearing from God and having an absolute reliance on His word. (2.) Finding that hiding place -- a place of prayer, protection and preparation. (3.) Understand that there is divine provision at the place of your assignment. Additionally, Pastor Kent points out three practical steps that must be applied in our lives for successful fulfillment of our divine assignment. (a.) We must have faith in God and His word (b.) We must willingly obey what He has said and His instructions given (c.) We must be adaptable to make changes where necessary.
Dr. Dexter Davis opens his discourse with an interesting quote from physicist Albert Einstein, “If I had an hour to solve a problem I'd spend the first 55 minutes determining the proper question to ask and once I have the right question I would solve it in less than five minutes.” In this message he emphasises the importance of asking the right questions in lie. Elder Davis focuses his attention on John 18:1-8 to consider the all important question, "whom do you seek?" This question is being asked of us today.

Pastor Kent Jacob begins this teaching series on the Holy Spirit with a message entitled "Getting to Know the Person". Here he speaks of the Holy Spirit as being the third Person of the Eternal Godhead. He defines person as, among other things, one having a mind, will and emotions, and shows from Scripture how the Holy Spirit has these attributes of personhood. Pastor Kent says that the work of the Spirit of God, in salvation today, is very similar to His work in creation. In creation the Spirit moved, God spoke and creation responded. Today the Spirit of God moves upon the heart of man, God speaks through His word or by some other means and man respond by repenting or taking some necessary action. This word challenges us to respond to the person of the Holy Spirit.
Pastor Kent Jacob continues with his series on the Holy Spirit. In this episode he takes a look at how the Holy Spirit is identified in the Old Testament and in the New. He shows that the Holy Spirit, as the third person of the Triune Godhead, dwells in us as Believers in Christ Jesus. He also highlighted, that the Holy Spirit in us is God in us is. The Holy Spirit in us is Christ in us. Pastor Kent further emphasized the work of the Holy Spirit in sanctifying us.
Pastor Kent Jacob continues his series on the Holy Spirit. This time he looks at the main ministry of the Holy Spirit on the world. That is to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgement. Pastor Kent appeals to the listeners to truly respond to the Spirit's call to repentance. He concludes by quoting Romans 8:1, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit." This gives us, who are in Christ and who allow the Holy Spirit to give us direction in life, to have an assurance that we are saved from that eternal judgement.
Don't allow a miserable situation make you miserable. Pastor Kent Jacob preaches from the book of Acts chapter 16 to show how an attitude of prayer and praise, in the midst of miserable circumstances can turn your misery into a miracle.
It may be safe to say that the most popular holiday in the world is Christmas Day. On this day the world celebrates the birth of Jesus the Christ. However, the Bible does not expressly point to the date that Christ was born. Nor does it suggest a celebration of this nature in His honour. Pastor Kent Jacob, here outlines the pagan origin of Christmas and questions why of all the days on the calendar, would we chose to celebrate Christ's birth (if it must be celebrated) on the same day that the major ancient cults celebrate the birth of their sun-deity. It brings to mind the saying, "Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery". A friend recently posted an interesting quote by George Orwell, which says "The further a society drifts from the truth the more it will hate those who speak it".
The Bible has a lot to say about money. There are however significant misconceptions about what is taught in God's Word as it pertains to money. In this second instalment, Pastor Kent gives some insight on Biblical Money Matters.

The Right Perspective In Prayer is necessary for effectiveness. When the Lord Jesus gave his disciples what is commonly referred to as The Lord's Prayer, he was not teaching them a prayer, but he was teaching them how to pray. He said after this manner pray ye — after this pattern. In this were principles that would cause ones prayer to be effective. Join Pastor Kent Jacob as he shares on "The Right Perspective in Prayer".
