Al Roxburgh and Jenny Sinclair talk with Sian Wade. Together, they explore her journey as a young pastor, which is characterised by a shift from doing “good things”  to discerning what God is doing among the people in her neighbourhood. She talks about her love for people and how God has been leading her and her church to connect with very poor parts of the community, with those who have not thrived. Through this, she has discovered that being church is more about being with people and living an organic Christian life than running programmes. Discerning what it might look like to do “authentic church” led Sian to accept a recognition of brokenness - in our relationship with God, in ourselves, with each other and with the earth.  She bears witness that authentic church is beautiful and messy and describes how she holds the tension between a prophetic posture alongside multiple partnerships with local statutory services. Bridge Church, aptly named, is practising a theology of unity with other churches and denominations, where, together as fellow Christians, they are praying and working for the transformation of their city.Sian Wade lives in Lincoln, in the north east of the UK. She co-leads Bridge Church, part of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God. As Community Initiatives Lead, Sian has a heart for working with local people and has forged many partnerships, with local groups, other churches and with civic authorities. Discerning what God is doing, she believes that the church should be the hub of the neighbourhood. Sian is married to Dave, they have three children and she is also a registered foster carer. - Links -For Alan J Roxburgh:http://alanroxburgh.com/abouthttps://www.themissionalnetwork.com/author/alan-roxburgh/https://journalofmissionalpractice.com/alan-roxburghTwitter: https://twitter.com/alanjroxburgh?lang=enFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/alan.roxburgh.127/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thecommonsnetworkJoining God in the Great Unraveling https://www.amazon.ca/Joining-God-Great-Unraveling-Learned/dp/1725288508/ref=sr_1_Leadership, God's Agency and Disruptions https://www.amazon.ca/Leadership-Gods-Agency-Disruptions-Confronting/dp/1725271745/refJoining God, Remaking Church, Changing the World: The New Shape of the Church in Our Time https://www.amazon.ca/Joining-Remaking-Church-Changing-World/dp/0819232114/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2NHGW8KB7L0SQ&keywords=Alan+J+Roxburgh&qid=1687098960&s=books&sprefix=alan+j+roxburgh%2Cstripbooks%2C130&sr=1-3For Jenny Sinclair:Website: https://togetherforthecommongood.co.uk/from-jenny-sinclairLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jenny-sinclair-0589783b/Twitter: https://twitter.com/T4CGFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/TogetherForTheCommonGoodUKInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/t4cg_insta/For Sian Wade:https://wearebridge.org/about-us/https://www.aoggb.com/ Get full access to Leaving Egypt at leavingegyptpodcast.substack.com/subscribe

In this episode, John reflects upon his journey. He shares the key things that he has learned in his faith and the navigation of the complexities of effectively running an organization. His first goal always is to love others as Christ has loved us. John shares with us the roles that he has stepped into over the last 20 years. From an outside hire and change agent, to a builder leader, visionary, and currently as a legacy leader.   One of the things that has sustained John throughout those seasons is understanding that it's all about God and seeking his ways. Only when that is the top priority, can a leader serve their organization and people well. The path to faithful stewardship is confidently following Christ and where he leads you!   In this episode, you'll hear John and Bobby discuss:  Learning how to let God lead you   How looking to Christ sustains us as leaders and stewards  How to be teachable and cultivate a culture of trust in your organization  The centrality of faith in our calling  Looking ahead to the future while faithfully serving in the present   Live Workshop with Q&A February 28th at 2pm ET: Engage Your People to Build an Irresistible Culture Register Today >>> https://values-driven-leadership-llc.ck.page/478437b4c9   About the guest: John Pellowe is the Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Centre for Christian Charities (known as the 4 C's) and is ordained by the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. His passion is to equip the Church in Canada to fulfill its mission by helping churches and Christian agencies become ever more exemplary, healthy, and effective Christian ministries. A staff of 22 people combines their expertise in legal and regulatory matters, human resources, finance, fundraising, marketing, leadership, and governance to provide a single source resource for help with running a Christian organization. Since 2003, John has led 4 C's to expand its services and model excellence in everything that it wants Christian ministries to become.   John has an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Master of Divinity from Tyndale Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.   About the host: Following a successful career as CEO, Bobby sold his business to a publicly-traded company.  In what he calls his "second half of life", Bobby seeks to pour Biblically-based principles into growth-minded business, church, and non-profit leaders.   Through Values-Driven Leadership, Bobby serves as an Executive Coach and Training Consultant for organizations.  He shares many of his principles and practices through a weekly blog, the True North Leader podcast, and through three books he has authored: Principled Profits: Outward Success Is an Inside Job True North Business: A Leader's Guide to Extraordinary Growth and Impact The Freedom Paradox: Is Unbridled Freedom Dividing America? Moore and Dr. Willa Moore, Bishop Mark A. Moore, Sr. is a fourth generation Pentecostal preacher. He remembers as a child hearing his father pray at the altar one day, and feeling the burden his father had for the children of God, he asked the Lord that day to let the burden of his father fall on him. The Lord honored his request and from that day, God has prepared Bishop Moore for the task. Raised and educated in the school system of Indianapolis, Indiana, he received various scholastic honors. He attended Harvard College and majored in religion although he had contemplated studying law. Bishop Moore graduated cum laude from Harvard College in 1985. From 1985 until the death of his father in 1988, Bishop Moore served in Indianapolis, Indiana at Christ Temple, the Mother Church of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World. He served in various capacities, which allowed him to receive formative pastoral experience. As a national Evangelist from 1989 to 1991, Bishop Moore traveled the length and breadth of the country, living by faith as God elevated his ministry to another dimension. During this period, he accepted the position of Pastoral Assistant to Dr. James D. Nelson in Baltimore, Maryland, where he served faithfully under Bishop Nelson's leadership. In 1992, Bishop Moore was elected to pastor Zion Temple Apostolic Church, in Havre de Grace, Maryland. During his 8½ years tenure the church tripled in attendance and there was extensive spiritual growth. Not only did the church flourish, but also the community benefited, strengthening “the whole man” with after-school programs, financial counseling and practical workshops. In 1996, God spoke to Bishop Moore concerning a “new thing” in Atlanta, and in November of that year, Bishop Moore, along with a faithful handful, established Faith Covenant Church of Jesus Christ, Inc. For four years, Bishop Moore traveled between Maryland and Georgia, pastoring both churches. In early 2001, God released him to the church that he founded, Faith Covenant – another step of faith in the life of Bishop Moore. His experiences as the founding pastor of Faith Covenant Church of Jesus Christ have been invaluable in rounding out his ministerial qualifications. Pioneering a church often calls for levels of faith, sacrifice, determination, and spiritual grit that are unparalleled in any other ministerial endeavor. Although Bishop Moore never anticipated that he would be a church planter, he has come to see this season as a part of the answer to the prayer he prayed so many years ago for the burden and mantle of his father. The hardship and thrill of birthing a ministry have had an indelible impact upon his character, resulting in a mature, resilient and humble servant leader. In July of 2010, he was elevated to the office of Bishop in the Lord's Church. Bishop Moore is married to the talented and lovely Shirley Ann Moore and they have three energetic, outgoing and spirit-filled children Mark, Jr., George David , and Sharon Alise - who are all actively involved in helping him to reach the world.

In this episode, we invited Rev. Bill Allan and David Wells to join us in a panel of discussion on the future for Canadian churches and Christian leaders. Rev. Bill Allan is the President of the Associated Gospel Churches, an association representing over 150 churches, congregations and ministries across Canada. And David Wells is the General Superintendent for the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada (PAOC). It is a fellowship of more than 1,100 churches across English- and French-speaking Canada. Together with our president, Dean Brenton, we discussed the following questions: (3:38) Tell us a little about your work and your fellowship. (8:00) What was most instrumental in you stepping into a national leadership role? (13:40) With all your responsibility and concern for the health of your churches and pastors, how have you stayed healthy as leaders through these months of the pandemic? (18:30) What has surprised or disappointed you the most during this pandemic? (22:45) Do you see any new opportunities for the church to engage with the culture? (27:53) In a time when we should have been more united, instead, it has felt like we have never been more divided. What is the importance of unity in the church, and why is it important for the future of the church? (33:27) As it pertains to the church, what could men be praying for? (36:50) In addition to praying, what are some practical ways men could be agents of peace and blessing in their family, community, and church? Gilbert Earl Patterson was an American Pentecostal-Holiness leader and minister who served as the international Presiding Bishop and Chief Apostle of the Church of God in Christ, Inc.  ishop Patterson spread the Pentecostal word through regular Sunday services broadcast on the Word Network, the Trinity Broadcasting Network and Black Entertainment Television. His own congregation, Temple of Deliverance, which he founded in 1975, had more than 6,000 active members in 2000. At a 2005 church convention in Memphis, the bishop called on his membership to spread the faith beyond racial and cultural differences. “I don't know why we ever got stuck on that thing that we're only supposed to give witness to black folks,” he said. Pentecostalism, one of the fastest-growing evangelical movements, teaches that people can be filled with the Holy Ghost in a second baptism. Most Pentecostals also believe that speaking in tongues — in inspired unintelligible utterances — links believers to God and brings the word of God to other people. The Church of God in Christ has about six million members. The second-largest denomination in the black American Pentecostal movement, the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, has about three million members.
