In this episode of Revive Your Life Podcast, I dive deeper into a topic that's come up in previous episodes: inside-out vs. inside-in thinking. An indispensable tool in developing your relationship with yourself, inside-out thinking allows you to finally make sense of outside experiences in the here and now. It provides a crucial first step to understanding your behaviors and motivations, so that you may begin cultivating a deeper knowing of what YOU actually want and who you truly are. In this episode, I sat down with former client of mine, Jack. Jack walks us through how therapy helped cure his codependency and depression, boosted his confidence and catapulted his career into previously unimagined heights. From being a chronic people pleaser in service of others to finally recognizing his own self-worth, Jack recounts how it was he dove so deeply into therapy and achieved such inspiring results. Any goal, aspiration or desire we go after in our lifetime will require us to step outside our comfort zone in order to obtain it. So how do you react when you experience things get hard and uncomfortable along the way? Do you have a clear enough understanding of your SELF to handle adversity without giving up, making excuses, letting your mood decide your destiny or beating yourself up? This is something most people don't have, and not because they don't want to do the work or haven't tried to improve themselves, but because none of us are not taught to prioritize our needs and interests, or even think for ourselves. We are taught to think about others and how they will respond to us and/or reward us. We of course do this obediently to survive and sometimes thrive in this world as a child and adolescent. However, what we understand about the outside world doesn't translate to understanding our inside world or sense of self. We are left with what feels like a chasm between our inner and outer life that can feel impossible to bridge and the roles we learn to play in society isn't enough to get us through our adult life and the complexities of relationships, spouses, family and finances. It is my work to educate people of how necessary the work of self-development and self-awareness is for anyone who would ever want to find purpose in their life, set and obtain goals that are meaningful, be in a fulfilling relationship, or become financially successful - for all of this and more you will need a strong understanding of WHY you think, feel, behave they way you do as well as how your past draws a blueprint for your future if you are not able to recognize these often self-defeating patterns. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/bianca-grace-revive/message

LESSON - being clear about AND speaking for your needs is an essential skill. One listener says: "I found it relatable how Bob was so engaged and thoughtful when it came to his girlfriend's situation but not very thoughtful when it came to his own needs and feelings. I definitely want to share this one with a friend of mine who married someone who has teenage kids from a previous marriage- she would probably get a lot out of it!" --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/bianca-grace-warrior/message
Join myself and Josh on a journey into the multi-faceted issues he faced in a blended family relationship. One listener says they personally took away from "is the silver lining around codependents- when they do claim their personal power and self-worth, they have the ability to enter into a future relationship where their inherent generosity is appreciated and reciprocated. They do have a lot to offer someone, so long as they first make themselves a priority." --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/bianca-grace-warrior/message
"There are insights here that are like a month's worth of therapy sessions. I can to relate to it all, the conflict-driven family dynamic, seeing how Lorna contributed to the situation, the yearning for belonging, trauma, how to self-parent...it was all in there! This one is automatically one of my favorites. I am definitely sharing it and linking it to my friend - she's going through a similar type situation in her family and she'd benefit greatly from this, 100%."
What they are saying: "This was a solid episode! Nehemiah was a great guest and it was nice to have a different perspective on a Christian worldview rather than a secular one. Also a good conversation about the holistic experience of self-care, needing to take care of the body and establishing healthy time management and routines in addition to the emotional work. It definitely reminded me that I have some more work to do in this area, and I think other men will feel the same." --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bianca-grace-warrior/support
It is a rare occasion when a therapist gets to see a previous client again and hear about how they've been doing...from the inside-out. There is a different level of knowing someone a therapist and it is a true privilege for me to be able to share Frank's process with you and how, after therapy, he can reflect and reconnect to himself. This is the path we all must take, and it is an ongoing journey. As always stay curious and open so you can listen inward and learn about yourself through this work! Top Review: "I think this will hit home for a lot of people! There's so much material in this session about wanting to appear 'well put together' while existing or coming from a chaotic home life; keeping those that are helpful at a distance, holding on to a marital oath at the expense of emotional/personal responsibility, and finally finding similarity and empathy for oneself and their parents that was so relatable!" --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bianca-grace6/support

Join us as we talk about the ins & outs and how's & why's straight talk is so important to learn how to do and use in our daily lives and relationships. Here is what one listener says: "You and David covered a lot of ground. On the subject of 'saying how it is'- I immediately recalled my personal experience of not speaking to what I wanted and how I was feeling and indeed it was out of a place of self-preservation. Your listeners will get a lot out of this really important lesson. A killer episode, truly." This week we explore the deeply emotional aspects of what Lorna has come to understand about herself her family and Danny's family over time. In this session we focus on the many ways her defense mechanisms have served to not just to protect her in the world but have also acted as a shield in her own mind from being able to clearly see the depth of her own emotional distress and integrate those experiences more fully. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bianca-grace6/support
In this episode, we work with Lorna, Danny's wife, on the struggles she endured trying to uphold her boundaries in the face of a narcissistic attention-seeking woman and familial codependent collusion stemming from Danny's side of the family. And though, her experience is highly provocative, in the end, she moves closer to seeing something about herself that is much more personal, which I call the silver-lining of enduring these types of terribly emotional storms. A couple came to me recently about a series of dramatic and emotionally difficult events that involved the paternal family and themselves. We talked through these events over two sessions so we could better understand what each of them wanted to work on personally and how best to move forward with their relationships with his family. In this session I will be talking through a clear strategy for discussing your feelings with emotionally sensitive mothers and understanding better ways for handling codependently enmeshed family systems. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bianca-grace6/support
Welcome to the last open session with our guest working on setting boundaries with her mother. I call the courage she exhibits and her supreme fortitude a definite moment of growth and clear passage into mature womanhood. She is someone that can walk forward with her head up, ask for help and accept it when offered, as well as continue to show up for those she loves and that love her during difficult times. This session is well organized and full of great insight on the practical steps she took and how she moved through the conversation with her mother without being drawn into old emotional patterns. In this session (3 of 4) we continue to explore, her resistance to setting boundaries with her mother we start to see that the defenses she built against knowing 'why' were there to protect her from many difficult feelings for her mother, and the past, which she must now face to be true to herself. Practical steps are laid out for her to have a discussion with her mother, but the most important part of the session is her ability to feel, process and describe what she is experiencing inside. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bianca-grace6/support
This episode is about understanding the dynamic impact our past, family and relationships have upon our unconscious mind, behaviors and self-concept. The way we work in this episode contains one of my favorite aspects of practicing therapy in an analytic way. That is diving deep into areas of her life that she is unsuspecting of being so meaningful! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bianca-grace6/support
This is the first episode of several we will have with a young women who wants to set boundaries with her mother. We will be take the 'working through' process she must endeavor do to be able to communicate these boundaries, step by step, over the next few episodes. I believe many of us will be able to relate to her struggles and can learn a lot about how deep our connection to 'Mother' goes within ourselves and society. We will also learn how to deconstruct the negative aspects of this bond(age) which may be linked to feelings of low self-worth or a lack of agency.
