Peace and harmony looked like an empty apartment and a recliner. That's when he knew something was wrong. Dave Shotgun Shell spent decades chasing adrenaline … football, MMA fighting, even karaoke when his body couldn't take the hits anymore.  After multiple concussions and near-death experiences starting at age two, he subconsciously became addicted to intensity.  But when the crashes started outweighing the highs, he swung hard in the opposite direction: two hours of meditation daily, seeking peace and harmony.  What he got instead was an empty apartment, a divorce, kids who lived elsewhere, and an isolated existence with nothing but four white walls and a recliner.  He had achieved perfect peace. And zero impact on the world. This conversation with Genea digs into the cost of extremes, and what happens when you finally stop escaping into either adrenaline or spirituality, and start living from the middle. What if the missing piece in your menopause journey isn't hormones, but your nervous system? I'm Dr. Betty Murray, and in this episode, I sit down with Dr. Patrick Porter, founder and inventor of of BrainTap technology, a revolutionary light, sound, and vibration system that uses brain wave entrainment to flip the switch on sympathetic syndrome (chronic fight-or-flight), restore sleep, build stress resilience, and rewire neural pathways in just 20-30 minutes a day. Dr. Porter has been pioneering neuroplasticity technology since 1986, starting with the first personal light and sound machine for pain clinics.  You'll Discover: ●    Why our ancient brains weren't designed for modern life ●    Why modern brains operate on only one gear (stress, frustration, anxiety) when we need multiple gears like a car, and how BrainTap uses light (810-850 nanometer), sound (beat frequencies), and vibration to regulate five primary brain wave networks (alpha, beta, theta, delta, gamma) like switching Wi-Fi networks ●    The four T's destroying biological systems: Thoughts, Traumas, Toxins, and Technology (the new fourth T) ●    How brain voltage drops from 18.1 volts at birth to 10.1 volts by age 16-17, creating resistance where life becomes an energy equation that starts in brain, moves down spine, out to limbs ●    Why neural pruning accelerates in menopause due to estrogen loss affecting mitochondria and the cannabinoid system. ●    Why affirmations fail: brain doesn't respond to false statements of fact ●    Why drinking coffee first thing in morning is worst thing for biological system} ●    The three critical BrainTap times: morning, afternoon, sleep preparation This episode is for women struggling with sleep, chronic stress, brain fog, or feeling stuck in fight-or-flight mode despite doing "all the right things" with diet and hormones. If you want to understand how 20-30 minutes a day of brain wave entrainment can rewire neural pathways and restore nervous system balance, this conversation will change how you think about healing. Lark Dean Galley: In today's episode, we sit down with Lark Dean Galley, who bravely shares her story of losing both her father and her son to suicide — and the profound spiritual truths she has learned through grief, connection, and healing beyond the veil.Lark opens up about her ongoing relationship with her son on the other side and how those experiences reshaped everything she believed about death, suicide, and eternity. She shares the powerful realization that suicide does not equal hopelessness in the eternal perspective, and that love, growth, and purpose continue.Through her son's guidance, Lark was led to her life's work as an Intuitive Money Guide, helping others heal poverty consciousness and break generational scarcity programming. This episode explores how grief can become a doorway to purpose, and how our loved ones beyond the veil often continue to help shape who we are becoming. We also discuss a radical and comforting idea: that we are often the ones placing limits on what's possible when it comes to our relationships with those on the other side. Love does not stop communicating — it simply asks us to listen differently. This conversation is honest, tender, and deeply hopeful offering reassurance to anyone navigating suicide loss, grief, or questions about connection after death.

“7 formas en cómo nuestros TRAUMAS impactan en nuestro éxito”

"PNL y Principios para tu éxito"

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 5, 2026 40:18

Dr. Debi breaks down the fundamental differences between betrayal and other types of trauma, explaining why traditional trauma recovery approaches often fall short for betrayal survivors.  Key Insights  The Three Core Discoveries from Dr. Debi's PhD Research:  Betrayal is a different type of trauma that requires a different approach to heal  Most people who've been betrayed experience symptoms of Post Betrayal Syndrome®  There are five predictable stages of recovery, with most people getting stuck at Stage 3  Why Betrayal Trauma Is Unique  The Dual Rebuilding Process Unlike other traumas where you rebuild your life, betrayal requires you to rebuild both your life AND your sense of self. The core aspects that get shattered include:  Confidence  Worthiness  Trust  Belonging  Sense of safety  Complete Reality Disruption With other traumas (car accidents, natural disasters, loss), your perception of reality stays intact. With betrayal:  Your entire worldview gets destroyed  Past memories become tainted and questioned  Every moment you shared is reexamined through a new, painful lens  Your trust in the person who was supposed to be your safest person is shattered  The Self-Trust Crisis When the person you trusted most proves untrustworthy, you immediately question yourself:  "How did I not see this?"  "What's wrong with my judgment?"  "Can I ever trust my own decisions again?"  This creates a paralyzing fear about moving forward and engaging with others.  Identity Destruction Betrayal triggers a complete identity crisis:  Your roles are questioned  Your sense of self is shattered  You take it personally, wondering if you're lovable, worthy, or deserving  Everything you thought you knew about yourself comes into question  Why Traditional Trauma Treatment Fall Short When it Comes to Betrayal  Standard trauma approaches focus on:  Processing the event  Reducing fear  Building coping skills  Increasing sense of safety  But these don't address:  The shattering of self-trust  The identity crisis  The complete disruption of reality and worldview  The unique isolation that comes with betrayal  The Isolation Factor  Unlike other traumas where communities rally together (like natural disasters or loss of a loved one), betrayal creates unique isolation:  People don't know what to say, so they say nothing  Friends and family may distance themselves out of discomfort  Some may minimize the betrayal to avoid dealing with it  The betrayed often suffers in silence, embarrassed and ashamed  Many cover for the betrayer to maintain appearances, suffering at their own expense  The Impossible Burden  After betrayal, people who've been betrayed are expected to:  Continue caring for children and elderly parents  Maintain their careers  Keep up with daily responsibilities  Function normally in society  All while their entire world has been shattered and they're questioning everything about themselves and their reality.  For Coaches and Practitioners  This is what your clients may be experiencing even if they haven't explicitly told you about a betrayal. They may be:  Struggling and suffering in silence  Unable to hold coherent thoughts  Barely functioning day-to-day  Covering for their betrayer while dealing with the devastation alone  Understanding these unique aspects of betrayal trauma is essential for providing effective support and guidance.    About Dr. Debi Dr. Debi Silber is the Founder and CEO of The PBT Institute, a two-time TEDx speaker, and holds a PhD in transpersonal psychology. Her groundbreaking research on betrayal led to the discovery of Post Betrayal Syndrome® and the 5 Stages from Betrayal to Breakthrough™.  Resources  Learn more about becoming a PBT-Certified Coach or Practitioner at ThePBTInstitute.com  Listen to the "From Betrayal to Breakthrough" podcast (top 1.5% globally)

The Emotional Economy of Whiteness."  This isn't just about individual feelings; it's about how emotions—both conscious and unconscious—play a central role in constructing and maintaining whiteness and its associated privileges in radicalized societies. So, what exactly does this mean? At its core, it's about understanding the "emotionalities of whiteness" that operate beneath the surface of everyday reactions to race. Scholars like Matias suggest these run deeper, rooted in historical and often unacknowledged traumas connected to whiteness itself, manifesting as various defense mechanisms.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/racism-white-privilege-in-america--4473713/support.

Springt da was fürs Ego raus? Frohe Weihnachten! Homeschool Mama Self-Care: Turning Challenges into Charms

If you've ever felt stretched too thin, this episode is for you. In Part 1 of my series, 12 Things I've Learned About Homeschool Moms, I share the first six insights I've gathered over my years as a homeschool mom, coach, and guide for women just like you. These self-care tips for overwhelmed homeschool moms aren't rules or prescriptions—they're real-life reflections from someone who's walked this path, experienced the overwhelm, and learned how to reclaim herself without abandoning her homeschool dreams. Join the 12-Day Self-Care Challenge for Homeschool Moms What You'll Learn: Self-Care Tips for Overwhelmed Homeschool Moms Every homeschool mom faces invisible challenges, even when things look “perfect” from the outside. In this episode, I dive into the first six things I've learned about the homeschool mom experience: You feel like you never get a moment to yourself – The constant “on” mode can leave you disconnected from your own body and needs. No one sees everything you do – From teaching to caregiving to emotional labor, the invisible load is real. You say yes because it feels easier than dealing with disappointment – Learning to say no is a radical act of self-care. You're emotionally depleted – The overwhelm is rarely about homeschooling itself—it's about carrying too much without space to reset. You feel guilty resting – Rest isn't optional; it's essential for your health, your energy, and your presence in your family. You don't even know who you are anymore outside motherhood – Reconnecting with yourself is foundational to leading a confident, aligned homeschool life. Every one of these six things isn't a sign that you're doing homeschooling wrong—they're signs that you're human and have been carrying more than anyone was meant to carry alone. Why These Self-Care Tips for Overwhelmed Homeschool Moms Matter If any part of this episode made you exhale or think, “oh… that's me,” consider this your gentle invitation to start tending to yourself with the same care you offer everyone else in your home. Emotional overfunctioning and people-pleasing can follow you into homeschooling, and slowly, you lose not just your energy, but your sense of self. Reclaiming yourself isn't selfish—it's foundational. Your kids feel safest when you feel safe. Join the 12-Day Homeschool Mom Self-Care Challenge This is exactly why I created the 12-Day Homeschool Mom Self-Care Challenge. It's not another checklist or performance-based challenge. Instead, it's twelve small, doable shifts designed to help you come back to yourself with compassion, not pressure. Daily Letters – Thoughtful reflections to help you see your needs clearly. Gentle Reflection Prompts – Uncover the stories you've been carrying. Tiny, Doable Practices – Small actions to create real emotional space. As one mom said: “Your work has ripple effects because you're nurturing the nurturers.” You deserve that same nurture too. Click here to join the 12-Day Self-Care Challenge and start making your own 1% shifts away from overwhelm and toward a homeschool life that feels good from the inside out. What's Next for Overwhelmed Homeschool Moms Next week, we'll continue with Part 2 of this series, where I share six more things I've learned about homeschool moms. They go even deeper, and I think you'll feel just as held, understood, and equipped to make your homeschool life feel lighter and more aligned. Until then, take one moment today just for you—not because it's earned, but because you need it and you deserve it. Join the 12-Day Self-Care Challenge for Homeschool Moms To the Woman Reading This… If any part of this resonates — if you recognize your own patterns of over-functioning, self-forgetting, or carrying too much — please know you don't have to walk this alone. Maybe safety felt conditional, or you learned to earn love by meeting everyone else's needs.Or maybe you're carrying grief or stories that were never yours to carry. I've walked this path too — from losing myself to returning to myself. If you're ready to step into who you truly are, I'd be honoured to walk beside you. ➤ Learn more about coaching with Teresa here.

Join Me for the 12-Day Homeschool Mom Self-Care Challenge A homeschool mom self-care challenge that honours you. Homeschool mama, I see you. December is here, and it feels like an avalanche of ALL the things.Every month as a homeschool mom is full, but December? It's a whole new level. You're trying to finish things up, or you’re moving into a unit study on Christmas, you’re purchasing, prepping, planning, and playing—and you just added a part time-job to your full-time job. But as a homeschool mama, when December rolls around, mama ain’t looking after herself, she’s looking, after ALL the things. And though ALL the things are a whole lot of things EVERY other month, December’s ALL the things is an exponential set of things. Though you’re trying to do all the things, fulfill the expectations, and make it magical for your kids, you can’t do a little bit more if you didn’t already incorporate an approach to maintain margins and pursue purposeful living. That's why I'm inviting you to join me for the 12-Day Self-Care Challenge for Homeschool Moms. This isn't another TO DO list. It's a TO GIVE list—a way to give back to yourself. Join the 12 Day Self-Care Challenge Why Self-Care Matters As homeschool moms, we have a unique calling. We're deeply present with our kids, invested in their well-being, and working hard to create meaningful memories and learning experiences. We savor moments of: Watching our kids harmoniously play together (sometimes). Cheering them on as they tackle new challenges. Seeing their excitement as they pursue new interests. Building lifelong memories as a family. But there's another side to this season: The constant stream of emotions (theirs and ours). Sibling squabbles. Complaints and meltdowns. And, of course, the never-ending mundane tasks—laundry, dishes, meals, and errands. Even when we handle these challenges with grace, the emotional and mental investment is enormous. Add the holidays to the mix, and it's no wonder we feel stretched thin. The Secret Ingredient to a (more) Peaceful Holiday Season Here's the thing: you matter too. Your well-being is not just an afterthought—it's the foundation of a happy family life and a peaceful holiday season. Self-care: Refills your energy so you can approach the holidays with calm and joy. Models healthy balance and boundaries for your children. Helps you manage stress and let go of perfection. Strengthens your emotional resilience to handle challenges with patience and grace. Creates space for joy and presence, helping you savor the small, magical moments. When you care for yourself, you're giving your family the best gift of all—a peaceful, grounded, and joyful mama. What You'll Get in the 12-Day Challenge In just fifteen minutes a day—maybe even five—you'll explore simple, practical self-care strategies that fit into your busy December. These strategies aren't just for the holidays; they're tools to carry into the new year, helping you nurture yourself and your family with greater ease and satisfaction. By the end of these 12 days, you'll feel: More energized. More connected to yourself. And more at peace as you move through this beautiful, busy season. And so we must take care of ourselves. Join the 12 Days of Homeschool Mom Self-Care Challenge Join Me—You Deserve This So, homeschool mama, this is your invitation to take a breath, step back, and remember that you are worth nurturing. Let's do this together. This December, give yourself the gift of care, calm, and connection. Join the 12-Day Self-Care Challenge for Homeschool Moms and rediscover the joy of the season—not just for your family, but for you too. Just fifteen minutes a day. You've got this. Xi Jinping is the most authoritarian and longest serving Chinese leader since Mao - and probably the most powerful man on earth. But what makes him tick, and what does is upbringing tell us about his behaviour today?Joseph Torigian spent nine years researching this question. The result is The Party's Interests Comes First - a biography of Xi's father, Xi Zhongxun. Torigan sat down with Roland Oliphant to discuss what he discovered about Xi's family history, and how it's shaping China and the world today.► Sign up to our most popular newsletter, From the Editor.

In this Huberman Lab Essentials episode, I explore the neuroscience of fear and trauma and how to effectively process and eliminate traumatic responses. I explain why successful fear treatment requires both extinction of the old fearful response and replacement with a new positive association—not just cognitive reframing. I also explain how the threat reflex activates specific circuits connecting the amygdala, prefrontal cortex, and dopamine systems, and why detailed recounting of traumatic events progressively reduces their physiological impact. Finally, I review evidence-based approaches, including prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy, discuss how five minutes per day of deliberate stress through cyclic hyperventilation can rewire fear responses, explain the critical role of social connection in activating neural pathways that reduce trauma, and share supplementation options for managing anxiety.
