Empathy. It's likely a word that conjures up unnecessary softness or, even weakness. But there's nothing weak about being empathetic and it certainly does mean you need to allow others to wallow in their own self-pity or walk all over you. In fact, when utilized correctly, empathy can be a powerful tool for realizing your full potential and influencing others positively along their own path. My guest today, David Waldy, joins me to make the case for men adding a level of what he calls fierce empathy into their lives. We talk about what empathy really means, why we lie to others and ourselves, how to stop lying, learning to heal yourself strategically and tactically, borrowing from other people's success, and how to craft and utilize a new identity for who you are. When Paula was fenced in and punching a time clock, she said, “If I can make a living helping people, I'll have it made.” That's precisely what she did as a grant writer and what she's doing today as an author. Her life purpose is to help people transform their lives as she has, which inspired her to write Thought S.N.O.B.: The Modern Spiritual Playbook for a Better Life. Paula's relatable style has earned her a massive 260,000 social media followers across all platforms, with more than 6,500,000 video views. At 25, broke and miserable, she enrolled in college as a non-traditional student. Six years later, she obtained a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in public administration. In May 2021, after working in fundraising for over a decade, Paula resigned to focus on her lifelong dream of being an author. Paula has studied spirituality for almost 20 years. Her studies include workshops with self-help giants like Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay, Deepak Chopra, and Abraham Hicks. Studying under the best, Paula figures she has accumulated 150,000 hours of experience in this field, making her an expert. She is trained in Transcendental Meditation, Primordial Sound Meditation, and Tapping. To expand her toolbox of offerings, she studies under Deepak Chopra himself. She has earned certifications in Meditation and Ayurveda Health and is working on the most prestigious credentialing offered by the Chopra Center, the Total Well-Being Coaching certification. Even though manifestation is something we do naturally, Paula believes some people must be taught. Her dedication to teaching vulnerable populations how to manifest the lives they deserve is her gift to the world. Coined by her followers as the “most relatable self-help influencer out there,” Paula's social media analytics show that she helps approximately 30,000 people daily through her social media posts and online workshops. Her posts and live events are attended by tens of thousands of viewers, drawn to her relatable style and easy-to-follow strategies. In Thought S.N.O.B., she picks up where her social media has left off, giving readers the tools to move from havoc to happiness. When she's not providing advice or running workshops on social media, Paula enjoys listening to music, and her taste is as diverse as her lifestyle. Don't be surprised to see her in the PIT for Machine Gun Kelly one weekend and then at Elvis Presley's Graceland the next. Paula thinks she's been to Graceland twelve times but admits she stopped counting long ago. She is a world traveler with an eye and an appetite for luxury, but Paula craves silence and solitude more than anything else. David and Kara had a conversation where David realized that he had been carrying judgment towards others, especially in areas like health and relationships. He recognized the need to let go of this judgment and approach people with empathy and understanding instead. - PLAY @11:11Kara and David discussed the challenges they faced in being honest with themselves and others, as well as the consequences of their honesty, including losing certain relationships. They recognized the importance of surrounding themselves with people who truly know and support them, rather than those who want them to conform to a comfortable version of themselves. - PLAY @22:56Kara and David discuss the fear and resistance people may have towards prioritizing personal growth and authenticity over attachment to relationships and external validation. They acknowledge that while it may be terrifying to let go of those attachments, choosing oneself ultimately leads to a more fulfilling and authentic life. - PLAY @35:00David and Kara discussed the fear and confusion surrounding the idea of choosing oneself and self-care, as well as the societal conditioning that views selfishness as wrong. They also touched on the codependent culture, the impact of social media, and the importance of recognizing the deceptive nature of darkness. - PLAY @46:31David and Kara discussed the importance of prioritizing self-care and filling one's own cup in order to be able to give to others effectively. They emphasized that neglecting oneself and constantly giving without replenishing can lead to burnout, health issues, and a loss of identity. - PLAY @58:27David and Kara had a deep conversation about the importance of asking meaningful questions and seeking answers to develop awareness and understanding. They also discussed the concept of judgment and the need for grace in navigating a world without clear direction. - PLAY @1:09:39 Become the Happiest Person You KnowGet Your Athletic Greens Offer Here Get your Onnit Alpha Brain Offer HereWebsite IG Support the showWake up with ENERGY, CLARITY, and TAP into the most authentic version of yourself to create a life you love with this daily practice.Head over to KARAPAYTON.COM/DAILY to get your gift!In your corner, XXKara

David's life might seem generally okay. But it wasn't until he was staring at himself in the mirror on the darkest days of his life, hearing God tell him, “David, I can't fix this for you,” did he realize that he had to do something different to take control of his path.David always seemed like the kind of guy who had everything figured out. He had an education scholarship, but he turned it down because he knew it wasn't the right path for him. He eventually worked at becoming a pastor, but realized that he wasn't meant to be confined to the four walls of a church. Even when he was young, he also had a lot of things going on – from sports to academics, from ministry work to other extra-curricular activities. What he only realized later on was that he was filling his life with distractions because he wasn't living a fulfilling life. He became a good husband, a great provider, and even got the usual things any guy would dream of – from the corner office to an amazing income. It wasn't until he learned how to hold space to become who he truly wanted to be instead of merely ticking all the boxes of what society saw as success did he truly become happy.Tune in to this episode to learn how to create your own identity and be the man you want to become to live the fulfilling life you've always wanted. “You get to decide. You can 'have it all' but not feel satisfied at all. That's what this podcast interview with David Waldy is about – how he changed his life through purposeful actions and thoughts to become the man he wanted to be and pursue the things he desired in life. David Waldy is a Kansas farm boy who had a happy childhood. Upon high school graduation, he rejected a full academic scholarship. Instead, he pursued alternative education in leadership, ministry, and personal development training. This choice led him to excel in sales, ranking among the top 1% in a $400M annual revenue firm and climbing to senior management. Yet, beneath this success, a sequence of deeply distressing experiences brought his mental, physical, and emotional well-being to the brink. Tune in to this episode of the Overcomer's Podcast and learn how a person can supposedly “have it all” from a human perspective but not feel totally satisfied and content with it all. Discover how David changed his perspective and became happier when he did.

After going through a tough time, David Waldy learns that he needs to fight his natural fixer-instinct in order to properly practice "fierce empathy," which is being fiercely committed to understanding another person's perspective while communicating the painful truth with love. In his capacity as a life and business strategist, personal coach, speaker, and author, David Waldy helps business owners and top-level executives overcome internal roadblocks to success. He left behind his corporate career and began a new chapter in his life, one in which he expanded his own definition of success in both his personal and professional spheres after coming close to ending it all by suicide. For David Waldy, his number one strength is empathy. He strives to speak the hard truths in love matter what discomfort may follow. He is rebelling against apathy, confusion, resentment, and anger in our men. It is evident in our daily lives, social media, and television. Instead, he is looking to inspire men to be faithful and do what they say they're going to do. He is doing it and it is evident in how he leads his family and his life. "Life is a mirror. Kids are a mirror. Your wife is a mirror. The hair on the sink is a mirror. The things that bother you can only be resolved by you working on yourself and your paradigm, all while being humble enough to know you can't do it on your own.""Everything that I create is simply an extension of who I am and who I am becoming."----------Pre-order The Adventure of Fatherhood children's book hereCheck out the TEDx----------Want to learn more about The Adventure of Fatherhood? https://www.rebelandcreate.com/Each week Ned sits down with a dad and asks him to open up his field notes and share with other men who find themselves on the Adventure of Fatherhood.Follow us:Instagram: www.instagram.com/rebelandcreateYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/rebelandcreate/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rebelandcreate/

Suicidal ideation is something commonly experienced by people in the church, but is either rarely talked about or is met with over-spiritualization, causing more harm than good. I'm joined today with my friend, David Waldy, as we talk about our own experiences with suicide and how our Christian upbringing influenced some of our very negative self-perception. There's a huge stigma around suicide culturally, but even more so within the church. My hope is that this episode will help to dispel som of the sting associated with the topic and provide relief and comfort for those suffering. If you are contemplating harming yourself, please call 988, no matter where you live in the United States. People are waiting to help you. The stress that applied to family and home life led David to associate being your own boss with struggle, stress and missing time with your kids, so when the time came, he jumped into the world of sales, rapidly climbing the corporate ladder and watching his income soar. He also watched his health and family life decline under the similar stress of long hours and constant pressure to exceed someone else's goals. Hear how he turns it around to become a national speaker, author, business consultant and performance coach, and a dad that is focused on his family first. You'll love hearing the perspective and wisdom of David and his "Fierce Empathy". Enjoy!------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Eric Sardina Executive Life CoachingFeeling stuck, empty or out-of-sync at work, at home, or in your relationships? David Waldy is a personal growth junkie and he loves coffee and loves to read. There's a lot of parallel between us, which I absolutely love. The way that he shows up in the world uniquely as a life and business strategist, speaker, co-founder of Generation Impact Consulting, and how he shows up for entrepreneurs across the globe truly intrigued me. It was with this key phrase - showing up with fierce empathy. After my own quarter life breakdown. I understood empathy at a level that I could never have ever possibly understood before, but David gives us a new perspective. You've got to listen to every single minute because it's such a rich conversation. He's a rich human being. I value you, I treasure you, and I can't wait to see how you apply fierce empathy to your life, business relationships, and all other things.
