In this episode, I say goodbye to Harry Ford and say hello to Jose A Ferrer, and break down the trade in detail. I explain why I've come around on it since it and like it for both sides, and I go over what Ferrer brings to the table for the Mariners future. I chat briefly about some of the Mariners winter meetings reporting and what it could mean for the rest of the off-season, as we patiently await the next Jerry Dipoto transaction. For our second to last Spirituality and Politics on Radio Kingston, Marielena and I are joined by returning guest, Eliza Swann - writer, educator, artist and alchemist, to continue our conversation into The Emerald Tablet.Last month on the show, we focused on the first paragraph of the Tablet. Today, we revisit it with Eliza, who shares their depth of knowledge and experience in working with the text. Eliza then carries us into the second paragraph with a strong analogy that helps to make sense of this somewhat esoteric text, the bridge between the ineffable and the mundane."True, without falsehood, certain and most true, that which is above is as that which is below, and that which is below is as that which is above, for the performance of the miracles of the One Thing. And as all things are from One, by the mediation of One, so all things have their birth from this One Thing by adaptation. The Sun is its father, the Moon its mother, and the Wind carries it in its belly, its nurse is the Earth. This is the father of all perfection, or consummation of the whole world. Its power is integrating, if it be turned into earth.Thou shalt separate the earth from the fire, the subtle from the gross, suavely, and with great ingenuity. It ascends from earth to heaven and descends again to earth, and receives the power of the superiors and of the inferiors. So thou hast the glory of the whole world; therefore let all obscurity flee before thee. This is the strong force of all forces, overcoming every subtle and penetrating every solid thing. So the world was created. Hence were all wonderful adaptations, of which this is the manner. Therefore am I called Hermes Trismegistus, having the three parts of the philosophy of the whole world. What I have to tell is completed, concerning the Operation of the Sun."Tune in to our last on air Spirituality and Politics conversation on January 12th as we welcome in a new year and new beginnings. While this show will conclude its on air presence at Radio Kingston at the end of January, it will continue as a podcast, and Marielena is sure to return for more conversations as we move forward in a new way.Today's show was engineered by Ian Seda from Radiokingston.org.Our show music is from Shana Falana!Feel free to email me, say hello: she@iwantwhatshehas.org** Please: SUBSCRIBE to the pod and leave a REVIEW wherever you are listening, it helps other users FIND IThttp://iwantwhatshehas.org/podcastITUNES | SPOTIFYITUNES: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/i-want-what-she-has/id1451648361?mt=2SPOTIFY:https://open.spotify.com/show/77pmJwS2q9vTywz7Uhiyff?si=G2eYCjLjT3KltgdfA6XXCAFollow:INSTAGRAM * https://www.instagram.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast/FACEBOOK * https://www.facebook.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast

The Washington Nationals shook up their offseason plans by trading emerging closer Jose A. Ferrer to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for top catching prospect Harry Ford and young right-hander Isaac Lyon. Ferrer, a 25-year-old lefty with elite velocity and years of team control, had been viewed as a long-term bullpen anchor. But with the market for high-leverage left-handed relievers thin and Ferrer drawing strong leaguewide interest, the Nationals capitalized on the opportunity to address a major organizational weakness behind the plate. Ford, once one of Seattle's most touted prospects, had trouble finding playing time behind star catcher Cal Raleigh but now gets a clear runway to develop into Washington's everyday starter. Escuchar audio

When conventional revascularization fails, can deep venous arterialization offer a new lifeline to limb salvage? Dr. Lucas Ferrer Cardona, vascular surgeon at Ascension and Dr. Miguel Montero Baker, vascular surgeon and medical director at HOPE Clinical Innovation Center join host Dr. Sabeen Dhand for an insightful discussion on deep venous arterialization (DVA). --- This podcast is supported by: RADPAD® Radiation Protectionhttps://www.radpad.com/ --- SYNPOSIS The doctors discuss the progression of deep venous arterialization, highlighting the benefits of open, endovascular, and hybrid approaches. They draw on their personal experiences to share key technical nuances and explore new devices such as the Aveera Boomerang device. They emphasize the critical role of patient selection, family support, and close postoperative surveillance, including weekly wound assessments and monthly ultrasound evaluations. It's Episode 400!!! A perfect day for Mariaelena and I to finally dive in to...The Emerald Tablet of Hermes. It's something she has been referring to from the days of us first plotting this monthly collaboration, and since I started to explore alchemy, it's been of interest for me to go deeper. This is the translation we're working from for purposes of our conversation."True, without falsehood, certain and most true, that which is above is as that which is below, and that which is below is as that which is above, for the performance of the miracles of the One Thing. What I have to tell is completed, concerning the Operation of the Sun."Marielena ties the Tarot to the Tablet, and we work through some of the meaning and purpose of the text. This may be cringy for those of you well steeped in the text, but it's a window into the beginner's mind and how someone, like myself, is coming to it seeking an understanding of how it's relevant to the art of living. We explore the notion of the "One Thing," what are miracles, and what it means to be perfected. Is it a formula for creating, for being like "GOD?" We've got more to go and will continue in our next conversation in December.Today's show was engineered by Ian Seda from Radiokingston.org.Our show music is from Shana Falana!Feel free to email me, say hello: she@iwantwhatshehas.org** Please: SUBSCRIBE to the pod and leave a REVIEW wherever you are listening, it helps other users FIND IThttp://iwantwhatshehas.org/podcastITUNES | SPOTIFYITUNES: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/i-want-what-she-has/id1451648361?mt=2SPOTIFY:https://open.spotify.com/show/77pmJwS2q9vTywz7Uhiyff?si=G2eYCjLjT3KltgdfA6XXCAFollow:INSTAGRAM * https://www.instagram.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast/FACEBOOK * https://www.facebook.com/iwantwhatshehaspodcast

“No country is ever just one thing.” In her new book Cuba: An American History (Scribner, 2021), NYU historian Ada Ferrer shows this again and again. In clear and engaging prose, Ferrer narrates five centuries of history from a decidedly different angle than previous one-volume studies; the main drivers of history in this book are not just familiar political figures and abstract historical forces, but a whole range of typically marginalized historical actors. Ferrer integrates the voices of the enslaved, ordinary Cubans, and her own family to reimagine what it means to tell the history of the island. Part of this reimagining also involves showing the many points of convergence between the history of the United States and Cuba. Ferrer uses many anecdotes—such as the story of the inauguration of a Vice President of the United States on a sugar plantation in Cuba—to suggest how the lines between Cuban and American history were often blurred together. The result is a finely crafted and deeply personal book that encourages readers to recognize Cuba's contested past and its multiple identities.
