It's been a while since I last published a podcast episode on @bloomincrisis. As I realized that time spent editing videos was taking away from my writing and other practices, I decided to shift my focus despite having a long backlog of recordings I've yet to revisit. However, after observing many students struggle with effective networking (most recently while hiring for our internship position), I felt compelled to edit and share this throwback episode that I recorded with students at Fordham University more than a year ago.In this episode, you'll learn:❌ The biggest turn-off when it comes to networking❌ Why you might not have found success in networking yet ✅ How reframing networking in your mind can help you build meaningful relationships ✅ Creative ways to leave a lasting positive impression on potential employers or hiring managers—plus real-life examples! If this resonates with you and you'd like to dive deeper, I'll be back at Fordham this Wednesday, March 5th, for another speaking event. Hope to see you there. Good luck!
HR2 - Ken and Curtis discuss the positive vibes in Sox Spring Training. Do they have the best rotation in the American League? Does the success of the team hinge on the performance of those starters?
John and Erik dive into the importance of patience in achieving success and how our expectations and measurements can either empower or sabotage our progress.Key takeaways from this episode:John shares examples of successful people who faced numerous rejections before achieving breakthrough success:Mr. Beast uploaded 455 videos before gaining significant tractionGary Vaynerchuk posted 1,000 wine videos before getting discoveredColonel Sanders pitched KFC 1,009 times before getting a yesJ.K. Rowling faced 12 rejections before Harry Potter was publishedThe Beatles were rejected by four record labels and honed their skills playing in German clubs for yearsWalt Disney heard 300 "no's" before Mickey Mouse became successfulThe hosts explore how impatience is often a form of entitlement, where we expect results without putting in the necessary work or time.Erik shares his personal experience with content creation, including a video that got 90,000 views followed by several that received only a few hundred views, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the algorithm. The most valuable insight: Change what you measure. Instead of focusing on views, followers, or immediate results, measure the number of reps (videos created, workouts completed, etc.) – things that are within your control.John discusses his upcoming meditation series and the importance of emotional states, noting that what we really seek in achievements like "$10 million" are specific feelings: victory, safety, confidence, and freedom. The conversation concludes with the hosts celebrating a heartwarming email from a listener in Portugal who adopted a dog after being inspired by the podcast – a reminder that impact often happens in ways we don't measure.Subscribe to The Expansive: link.chtbl.com/expansive Hello! "Nothing is perfect. Life is messy. Relationships are complex. Outcomes are uncertain. People are irrational." ― Hugh Mackay YouTube: Check Out These Highlights: This quote is on point. There is no such thing as perfection; yes, life is messy. Yet, I feel like humans look for the easy, the quick fix, the magic pill. We are all here to inspire and create change in our lives and communities. This may be why leadership in organizations and businesses is messy and challenging. We are all human and have filters through which we see our version of the world. Does that mean your colleague, boss, or family member is always right or wrong in all situations? Of course not. Understanding and being curious about why people do and say what they do can be life-changing at work and home. About Dr. L. In this podcast we talk about the key to increasing our blessings and finding success in life through seeking forgiveness. We talk a little about the depth of seeking forgiveness and how it goes further than just outright sinning and into the principle of showcasing our imperfection and looking to Allah, who's free of all imperfections and seeking His forgiveness as He promises that when we do so, He will increase us, grant us more blessings, and help us purify ourselves. Danielle Chavez, Founder, Club Design Studio The daily questions we ask ourselves over club communications – how often should we email our members? Is it possible or should we make the weekly newsletter shorter? How do we integrate the club's website into our marketing strategy? – all these questions and more take center stage in this podcast with Club Design Studio's fearless leader Danielle Chavez. Communication is at the heart of a club – whether it's members conversing with each other, staff and management promoting food specials or golf programming, or whether It's marketing through email, social media and the club's website. And, Danielle has her fingers on the pulse of all of these segments of communications. Achieving club communications, keeping the portals where members consume their information, fresh and inviting while still adhering to a club-like tradition in terms of media, is not an easy task and it's finding the correct mixture of creativity versus traditionalism that interests Danielle. Danielle discusses the need for scheduling and creating an entire communications strategy based on researching and working with each club as every club is different. As Danielle says: “Get to know the club…” before you do anything, propose anything, or create any materials. Let's dig a little deeper and find out if hashtags are remain relevant for club communications. And we find the dangers in overusing Canva, the new In-Design for the lay creator, which is completely transforming art and communications not only for the private members club industry but across all commerce and business! And is it actually possible to create a template that doesn't get stale over time? Communications, Marketing and Sales Clubs far too often blend a position that encapsulates marketing, communications and even, sometimes, sales or new membership. But in reality, these are three very different roles, taking the individual in various directions. A common diagnosis for Danielle and her firm. In turn, Danielle's firm supports clubs in trying to better communicate the club's events, programming and membership news through these three, distinct areas, rather than the club having to appoint two new positions. But now, during a week where Tik Tok might be the first major social media network to be banned in the USA, we investigate social media and private members clubs. Let's talk fonts and point sizes in detail and strategy and calendar marketing at a macro level with the founder of Club Design Studio, Danielle Chavez.

You need to make more offers!Would you like to know one of the number one thing that has helped me become successful over and over again? It's really quite simple: by making more offers! In this current moment in time, there are people in the world that are willing to invest in your product or service, that are willing to invest in you and what you give into this world. But if we don't make an offer, what happens? They're ready, willing and able today - right now. But they're in the active market right the second and they're going to go somewhere else to make that investment because we're totally invisible. The answer is always “no” to the offer that has never made. I challenge you today is to make more offers. We are attracting people into our world. We're putting out the messaging that's aligned to them. We're bringing them through our funnels, our online marketing. We are sharing our goodness into the world. But the thing is that if we aren't giving them an opportunity to buy from us, we are free zoning those people, we are friend zoning them, right? We need to lean in, we need to feel more secure and confident and make more offers. When is the last time that you made an offer to your people? Let me know, because I think at the end of the day, we all need to make more offers! Welcome to Season 6. I'm incredibly grateful for your support and encourage you to keep sharing. Looking ahead, I plan to introduce new content, including video interviews and a book review, all focused on addressing the needs of senior leaders and executives. My aim is to provide insights on personal and organizational improvement by identifying gaps in leadership strategies. I believe everyone deserves great leadership in both personal and professional realms, and I advocate for the development of a personal vision. This vision should provide clarity, motivation, and alignment with your core values. I've highlighted three key principles: clarity and direction, motivation and resiliency, and alignment and fulfillment. A personal vision should serve as your guiding star, help you stay focused amidst challenges, and align your actions with your core values for a meaningful life. I encourage you to define and document your personal vision to achieve life fulfillment, referencing Habakkuk 2:2-3 to stress the importance of accountability and motivation. Even if progress is slow, maintaining faith in your vision is essential, as personal growth may be required before it materializes. I urge you to reflect on your goals for the upcoming year, keeping your “why” at the forefront to stay focused and committed.
