Have you ever found yourself trapped in the aftermath of an unresolved situation or a lingering emotional burden from a past relationship? Did you ever wish there was a way to find closure and finally move forward? In this episode, TalkDoc, Meredith, and Teighlor dive into the intricacies of closure. We all have experienced those moments when someone hurt us, and they seemingly moved on effortlessly, leaving us stuck in a whirlwind of emotions. Closure is the key to liberating yourself from this emotional turmoil. Closure is not just about ending an emotional circumstance without pain or regret; it's about reclaiming your emotional well-being. Smith of marriage.com, who aptly defines closure as a “means ending an emotional circumstance without pain or regret. And it implies extricating ourselves from the emotional burden and no longer allowing the relationship to have any weight on our well-being.” Drawing from the work of psychologist Dr. Ahona Guha (2021), we explore the concept of closure into three essential tasks: 1) Understand the Situation, 2) Process the Difficult Feelings, and 3) Allow Time and Distance. Join us in this enlightening episode and embark on a journey towards closure that promises to empower you, lighten your emotional load, and help you pave the way to a brighter, more fulfilling future.   Music by epidemic sound. As a Mom who has kids with speech and developmental delays, I know that sometimes big days like this have a way of bringing up a lot of feelings for us. Maybe we wish our child could speak to us, or play with us outside, or pose for a nice family photo. Mother's Day can often magnify the ways we are different from those around us and that can leave us feeling sad, disappointed, or even angry.  On today's BONUS episode I want to just remind you that you aren't alone in these feelings! I also want to share with you some hope and some encouragement that things DO get better as we commit to walking with the Lord and finding acceptance and joy along this journey of parenting our special needs kids.  Ashley

Humans as we are, we never have the power to see how our marriages can fail, or we can end up getting divorced. When you speak like this to yourself, ask if you would ever talk that way to your child, a best friend, a family member, or a colleague. If you can be an encourager to others, why are you blaming when it comes to yourself?  ✔️ Release the pain.  If the pain's still not going away, what you're doing isn't working.

Life is full of conflicting information.  We are constantly managing and doing our best to hold opposing emotions and conditioning at the same time. On the one hand, we have feelings that are the least desirable. Alternatively, we have the most desirable qualities of trust, love, and compassion. It is not only important to see these as opposites but to recognize that we are taught to work hard, be disciplined, be successful, be attractive, and have financial means. As we process and wrestle with our conditioning as well as our emotional extremes the paradox emerges. Robert helps us start with the most difficult feelings so we have the best chance to discover what we need. Therefore, giving us the best chance to feel good. It is never too late to go back and realize that you have been judging yourself or that you have been shut down.  From this awareness, a pivot can occur.  That intention to care can begin to become a definition that you identify with more than what you do or how young you are, or how wealthy you are because that intention to care will help you in all directions, no matter where you are. Join Robert and Dave as they continue to deeply delve into these key practices highlighting moving from internal awareness to communicating with our partners and those we are close to. This includes using the right tone, asking for your needs more than once, and reassessing how important this need is to you. One of the main aspects of Inquiry, or the act of asking beneficial questions to take care of yourself, is to do it without judgment. Asking precise guiding questions is how you can take care of yourself, despite your feelings. In this episode of Awareness that Heals, Robert Strock takes us through a few moments of his life. He shares how his own Inquiry and the subsequent guidance he continues to develop has helped him empathize more strongly with people around him, including his podcast co-host and partner at the Global Bridge Foundation, Dave, through some recent emotional events.  Awareness of challenging personal emotions is the first step to learning how to deal with them. It is important to note that being kind and empathetic to yourself is central to guiding yourself with a difficult feeling no matter where you're starting from. It is essential to hear and support yourself through greater tolerance and acceptance. But the idea is to be kinder toward yourself even in difficult moments when you have no clarity or understanding.  Once you develop the intrinsic motivation to understand your feelings and introspect to take care of yourself better, you will be more in tune with your mind and emotions. Realizing what you're feeling and putting a name to your emotions is one of the first steps to developing wisdom guidance. Wisdom guidance and intrinsic motivation to take care of yourself and those around you are what will help you expand your quality of life, allowing you to live with greater fulfillment and naturally support those around you. We don't like feelings very much, do we? At least, not the unpleasan  ones. We fight and resist them, or try to deny or numbing them. And that puts us into a state of high alert, takes us into fight or flight, and creates the sensations and reactions in our body we have learned to dread. However, there's another way. One that's more helpful, and so much healthier. We can learn to sit with our feelings until they teach us what we need to understand. We can be with them until their message and wisdom makes itself known. This takes us through a process that will ultimately bring a sense of peace and calm, the ability to reflect and find both clarity and a way forward.Janny explains.

A mini-episode dedicated to anyone moving through difficult feelings and complicated relationships during this holiday season. I know how challenging it can be to honor our conflicting feelings when the world around us celebrates with the ones they love. Maybe we struggle with difficult memories and experiences in our past or are exploring new terrain following a profound loss or separation, or we happen to find ourselves far away from those we love this year. I created this episode as a reminder that you are not alone or forgotten this holiday season. Love Letters and Mixtapes is a weekly podcast with new episodes available every Monday at 9 am EST. Together, we'll discuss everything from mental health, emotional health, spirituality, trauma, ptsd, sobriety, recovery, grief, relationships, family dynamics, communication strategies, coping skills, and all aspects of health and wellness. The inspiration for the podcast was a desire to write, share, and talk about things that our younger selves needed to hear, whether that was 30 years ago, 3 years ago, or yesterday. Together we can remix all the tapes and unconscious programming we have that usually trigger us into reactivity and find a new perspective that allows us to live life on life's terms with a measure of emotional sobriety. The phrase "I am uncomfortable" helps me to stay in the moment and see what's really going on in my life. Just before making this video I was feeling a bit uncomfortable, and being able to admit this to myself helps me to change my frame of mind. This practice is much different that how I dealt with being uncomfortable most of my life. For example, in high school I would often say I was upset because "insert external reason." This line of thinking was based around the idea that someone else was to blame for unpleasant feelings. Today I am grateful that simply acknowledging that I am uncomfortable is enough to make the feeling subside. I hope this power thought is helpful for you, and I appreciate your feedback! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jerrybanfield/support
