In this episode, Sarah and I explore the liberating power of taking responsibility for ourselves. Sarah shares her experience of how taking responsibility for herself has transformed her life and allowed her to feel free, content, and sufficient. We discuss the concept of people pleasing and both recognize that people pleasing is a form of manipulation. We talk about the fear that many people may feel when they hear the idea of taking responsibility for themselves, but Sarah emphasizes how it is worth it, even though it may be challenging. Sarah also shares how realizing that she can't control what other people think of her was a turning point for her, allowing her to be content with herself and let others have their own experiences of her. Join us as we dive into this inspiring conversation on how taking responsibility for yourself can lead to greater freedom, contentment, and self-love. What you'll learn in this episode: How Sarah started taking emotional responsibility for her life What happened when Sarah realized that she was in charge of how she wanted to feel Why other people don't create our emotions Some of the challenges she had with her mother How she uses the energy of emotions to move her forward in life Some of the beautiful things she loves about her mother Links mentioned in this episode: Sarah Plowman: https://www.instagram.com/sarahplowmancoaching/ My Website: https://www.rachelkhudson.com/ Work with me here: https://www.rachelkhudson.com/work-with-me Grab your FREE 3-Step Guide to Creating Peace With Your Mother: https://www.rachelkhudson.com/opt-in-817728d6-c4b4-465e-bd45-d759adf59b52 Find me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rachelkhudson/

Making a sincere apology can have a profound impact on your level of self-worth. What I realized over the last several weeks is that I realized that the way I was taught about making an apology was that it was either "owed" like a bad debt or it came with a lot of strings attached. What you'll learn in this episode: When we apologize from a place of fear, it has a different energy to it. It feels heavy and haunting. There's an air of manipulation to it. When we apologize from a place of love, it feels genuine. A sincere apology can give anyone a sense of freedom when we come from the right place. I'm delighted to say that learning to sincerely and timely apologize is one of the biggest gifts I've ever given to myself. Today's episode is all about the different types of mama drama. It looks different for all of us. Drama doesn't mean anything has gone wrong. It's something that you have control over. This originally started out as a list of 5 to 7 topics. When I dug in a little deeper, it was like a snowball effect. The list kept getting longer. I see Part 2 in our future. In this episode I talk about: How we can pick up subtle messages that create body image issues Drama around money When your mom doesn't show her emotions When mom says mean things Enmeshment and boundaries Women who are still holding onto resentment even when mom is gone Betrayal drama The dutiful daughter Distrust drama Mother-in-law drama Blame and shame When mom acts like a child Health issues with mama The critical mama drama No-contact drama I'd love to connect with you more Instagram | Facebook | Twitter | Coaching with Rachel

Creating a daily routine can give you a sense of safety and security in your life. I'm talking about creating routines for yourself because Empaths can be susceptible to decision fatigue, chaos, and get into the fight, flight, freeze mode if we're not careful. As a sensitive person, you can have many different experiences during the day that include thoughts, emotions, and inspirations. Creating a predictable environment can feel very centering and grounding (which is something that empaths crave). Examples: Waking up at a certain hour every day Eating regular meals Giving yourself balanced time for work, play, movement, and meditation each week. This gives you a nice framework that doesn't have to make you feel trapped. On the other hand, if your schedule is chaotic, if you find yourself spending too much time socializing (which can be draining for empaths), OR too much time alone, you can start to feel an imbalance. When I'm “in the zone” with work or other activities, I feel like I'm in this timeless sweet spot. Work feels effortless. That's why I love to have a daily structure that's not too tight and not too loose. I go to bed at the same time, eat at the same time, and work in the same spot. Even my doggies know what happens where. They like having a routine, too! Having this type of structure lets me stay open to my own creativity and I'm noticing that my distractions are fewer when I have a structure to my day and week. What can you do? I have some suggestions: Spend time journaling about the daily structure that feels good to you. Write down how you feel when you get enough sleep What meals (and when) feel the best for your body When do you work most efficiently and effectively? What times of day are you less likely to get distracted? When do you like to meditate? AM? PM? Both? Under-schedule your days Focus on “routines” that give you enough structure and allows you to be just a bit spontaneous. If you enjoy this episode and it inspired you in some way, I'd love to hear about it and know your biggest takeaway. I asked this question in my Empath Insights Facebook Group and I got some insightful answers. Clients come to me because they're not only empaths, but they're afraid to open up. They're afraid to let their feelings out. Do you know what happens in the body when you don't give yourself permission to release those stuck emotions? You feel physically stuck, tired, sick, and heavy. Most are in chronic pain because they can't seem to let go of those emotions. It's the best feeling in the world to watch a client go from complete overwhelm to being relaxed around the same exact situation. Here are the top 3 that came up for my group members: Tiredness to the point of feeling physically drained Trapped in the cycle of emotional eating to push down emotions. Then getting depressed about it. Pushing down emotions to the point of either severe depression or blowing up with anger. If any of this topic resonates with you and you're ready to start thriving as an empath, I'd love to chat with you 1:1. Your own thoughts can drain you! Your negative, stressful thoughts can be addictive. It may be hard to stop thinking stressful thoughts. They can be obsessive, repetitive, and can keep replaying in your mind relentlessly throughout the day. That's why you must step in and take control. These thoughts are a form of self-inflicted suffering. Don't let them define the way you see yourself and the world because they are not reality. Something to ask yourself, “How would my life change if I knew these thoughts weren't real?” Take some time to journal about it. If you continue to believe the false messages these thoughts send, you will likely be tired and unhappy. In this episode, I give you a very simple way to release negative energy.
