In this luminous episode, Jennifer Urezzio sits with Dr. Lynn Anderson — naturopath, yoga & nutrition therapist, author, and longtime teacher — to explore how to outsmart your karma for prosperity. Dr. Lynn reframes karma away from moral judgment and into a clear, usable principle: cause and effect. She offers a practical prosperity map through the four gifts of Lakshmi — wealth, pleasure, harmony, and liberation — and reminds listeners that “wealth” can be anything that enriches you (health, voice, artistry), not only money. The conversation names the four great passions that trip us up — deceit, greed, anger, and pride — and centers awareness as the first, essential practice for transformation. Dr. Lynn and Jennifer walk listeners through embodied tools: cultivating internal dialogue with the soul, practicing breath and presence to step out of reactivity, using yoga and sensation to build awareness, and practicing trust as a lived muscle. Throughout, the invitation is to observe rather than judge, to convert thinking → speaking → doing into conscious karma, and to allow small daily acts to compound into real prosperity. Practical takeaways: Redefine prosperity daily by adding small acts of wealth, pleasure, harmony, and liberation. Notice bodily signals (anger, tightness) as the doorway to awareness — breathe, observe, release. Replace deceit with truth: start with honest internal dialogue and consistent small choices. Treat trust like a practice: build resilience from the inside so you can navigate the outer world. Learn more about Doctor Lynn at http://www.doctorlynn.com. Overpowering Emotions Podcast: Helping Children and Teens Manage Big Feels
Kids don't just feel emotions—they also create stories about what those emotions mean. In this episode of Overpowering Emotions, Dr. Caroline focuses on cognitive appraisal and emotional metacognition. You'll learn how children interpret events, how automatic “henchmen thoughts” fuel anxiety and meltdowns, and why teaching kids to appraise situations differently can build resilience. From detective games to thought logs to chain breakers, this episode is packed with playful, practical tools to help kids spot unhelpful thinking traps, reframe them, and act in ways that reflect their values. This conversation will help you guide them beyond “just breathe” into truly flexible, values-based thinking.Homework IdeasEmotion Detective Game: Use clues (body signs, thoughts, triggers) to uncover what an emotion is trying to say. Ask, “Is this thought a clue or a trick?”Thought–Feeling–Action Chart: 4 columns — What happened? / What did I think? / What did I feel/do? / What else could I think or do? Comic Strip Appraisals: Kids draw a situation, then fill in thought bubbles and alternative thoughts. This makes invisible thinking visible. Matching Cards: Mix “Event,” “Thought,” and “Emotion” cards. Kids match different combos to see how thoughts change feelings. Chain Breakers: Practice interrupting automatic thought → behavior loops with alternative responses (“When I feel ____, I will try ____”). Values Journal: Teens list what matters to them, then reflect: “Did my response move me toward or away from my values?”Enjoying the show? In this episode, Mike Baker, Vice President and Global CISO at DXC Technology, says the cyber industry has been focusing on the wrong side of AI. He believes too many companies use it only to block threats instead of studying how criminals use it to scale phishing, bypass defenses, and deploy adaptive malware. Attackers are learning faster than ever, and security teams must catch up. Mike argues that defenders need to think differently and use AI as both protection and opportunity. He shares how DXC is already doing this. The company has brought autonomous AI agents into its security operations through a partnership with 7AI. These agents process alerts that used to require hours of human effort. The result is faster detection, less burnout, and more time for analysts to investigate real threats. By cutting manual work by more than eighty percent, DXC has shown how AI can make cybersecurity teams stronger, not smaller. Zero Trust remains a core part of DXC's strategy. Mike calls it a journey that never ends. It needs cultural change, constant learning, and leadership that keeps security invisible to end users. AI now plays a role here too, improving identity checks and spotting access issues in real time. Yet, he reminds us, AI still needs people in the loop for oversight and judgment. We also talk about supply chain risks. Too many companies still treat risk assessments as one-time tasks. Mike pushes for continuous monitoring and close collaboration with suppliers. He closes the conversation on a hopeful note. AI will not replace people in cybersecurity, he says. It will make their work more meaningful and more effective if used with care and common sense.

Dr. Shige Oishi thinks so. He's the author of Life in Three Dimensions: How Curiosity, Exploration and Experience Make a Fuller, Better Life, and he defines psychological richness as a life filled with diverse, interesting, and perspective-shifting experiences. Unlike the well-trodden paths of happiness (contentment) and meaning (purpose-driven focus), psychological richness is about exploration, challenge, and even taking on uncomfortable challenges —because growth lives outside the comfort zone. And retirement is a catalyst to explore this third dimension of life. Yet, psychological richness doesn't require dramatic change. It's quite accessible through small shifts, and by simply trying something new. Try new foods, meet someone new, or change your routine. And seize opportunities to be spontaneous and playful. Listen in and learn more about how psychological richness can enhance your life in retirement. Shige Oishi joins us from Chicago. _________________________ Bio Dr. Shige Oishi is the Marshall Field IV Professor of Psychology at the University of Chicago.
