Have you ever had the greatest of intentions about changing an eating habit, only to fail again and again? What if it's not what you think it is?If you listen to the podcast regularly, you likely know that I LOVE chocolate - and I'm not shy about it!Renee blew my mind in this episode, where she unpacked my chocolate connection and why, if I ever wanted to, I might have trouble stopping eating it. Indulging in chocolate for me isn't just about the sweet taste; it's about the memories and emotions tied to every bite!
When we think of carnal pleasures, or pleasures of the flesh, the first thing we think about is sex. Of course there are other pleasures of the flesh, such as eating, drinking, enjoying nature, music, art, conversation… all the pleasures we gain from our physical senses, our body and our mind.Carnal pleasures are not incompatible with ascension. In fact they can help. However, they are a two edge sword, just like any modality based in the body, mind or spirit. For our existence on Earth, love and pleasure are closely related. Physically speaking, they create a lot of the same chemicals. We say things like, “I love to dance”, “I love to eat”, “I love sex.”I know I do.Going without is not the answer. Indulging every pleasure can also become a trap. The way it traps is by sex or physical pleasure being hijacked by the ego, or small self.Take a sexual union for example. Both parties fully aware that they are divine beings and want to create a sphere of divine love which is greater than the individual parts put together. It is a powerful concept. Intention is the key here. Enjoy and love each other fully. When the words start coming in such as “you are mine and only mine”, “I don't want to share you”, and other controlling and owning energies come to the surface, the flow is no longer what it can be.Both parties can go into the ascension through pleasure relationship with an agreement to be exclusive to each other for as long as it takes. This is actually recommendable, especially at the start when both parties will be dealing with a lot of love flow and change. However, the problem begins when it is not an agreement but a necessity due to insecurities, control, fear, anger or possessiveness. Some of the people I have helped by providing an ascension consultation report becoming sexually aroused during the process. So an understanding of how the energy of love and that of sexual pleasure are linked physiologically speaking helps to get past this stage as it can otherwise be a stopping point for the person involved. The stopping point comes about because for a lot of us sexual energy and work of the spirit seems to be incompatible due to our upbringing. The energy the person feels during the process, the one they become aroused with, is divine love. It is in fact themselves they are feeling. Their true essence. The key here is to let the physical feelings to fully express themselves energetically and let them expand as much as it can, engulfing the body, the room and the entire Earth if needed. That energy is part of the person and has to be embraced by the person.Sexual arousal and libido often will increase when traveling the route of love to ascension, which is why I often suggest to my students to get a boyfriend or girlfriend. Hey, why not enjoy the experience and take full advantage of it!!!For a much deeper exploration of this topic you may be interested in Sex, Love and Soulmates in the New ParadigmThe discussion doesn't stop here—listen to the full podcast episode for unfiltered insights from Inelia and our panelists. Purim Unveiling the Hidden Wisdom of Purim: A Feast of Fools for Modern Times As we approach the joyous holiday of Purim, it's time to look beyond the costumes and revelry to uncover the profound lessons this ancient celebration holds for our modern world. In this eye-opening episode of Madlik, we explore the surprising connections between Purim and other global festivals of excess, revealing how these celebrations can transform our perspective on joy, tragedy, and the human experience. The Universal Language of Celebration Did you know that Purim shares striking similarities with Mardi Gras, Carnival, and even the Indian festival of Holi? These seemingly disparate celebrations all occur around the same time of year and share common themes: • Marking the end of winter and the arrival of spring • Indulging in excess food and drink • Wearing elaborate costumes and masks • Temporarily upending social norms and hierarchies This universal impulse to celebrate and "let loose" speaks to a fundamental human need. As Harvey Cox, the esteemed Harvard theologian, argues in his seminal work "Feast of Fools," these festivals serve a crucial purpose in our lives: "Festivity is the way we cool history without fleeing from it." In other words, celebrations like Purim allow us to step back from the intensity of our daily struggles and gain a fresh perspective. They remind us that while we are part of history, we are not solely defined by it. Rethinking Celebration in Times of Tragedy You might be wondering: How can we justify such exuberant celebration when there's so much pain and suffering in the world? Isn't it insensitive or even irresponsible? Here's where Cox's insights offer a powerful reframe: > "Those cultures that are closer to real tragedy, brutality, chaos, failure and death, as well as triumphant compassion, are the ones whose celebrations are deeper." Counterintuitively, it's often the communities most familiar with hardship that have the richest traditions of celebration. This isn't about ignoring pain, but rather about cultivating resilience and maintaining hope in the face of adversity. For those of us grappling with how to celebrate Purim in the wake of recent tragedies, this perspective offers a path forward. Our celebrations can be an act of defiance against despair, a way of affirming life and human connection even in dark times. The Wisdom of "Vinahapechu": Embracing Contradiction One of the central themes of Purim is "vinahapechu" – the idea of things being turned upside down. We're instructed to drink until we can't distinguish between the villain Haman and the hero Mordechai. While this might seem like mere frivolity, there's profound wisdom in this practice. Cox argues that true festivity involves "juxtaposition" – the ability to hold contradictory ideas without trying to resolve them. This mirrors the Talmudic approach of embracing multiple perspectives without forcing a single conclusion. In our polarized world, where people often retreat into echo chambers of like-minded opinions, Purim's lesson of "vinahapechu" is more relevant than ever. It challenges us to: • Question our assumptions • See beyond black-and-white thinking • Find common ground with those who hold different views Practical Ways to Embrace the Spirit of Purim So how can we apply these insights to make our Purim celebrations more meaningful this year? 1. Reflect on resilience: As you celebrate, take a moment to acknowledge the challenges you've overcome. Let your joy be an affirmation of your strength. 2. Reach across divides: Use the holiday as an opportunity to connect with someone you might not normally interact with. The costume tradition can be a great icebreaker! 3. Embrace playfulness: Allow yourself to be silly and let go of self-importance. This "recess from history-making" can actually make you more effective when you return to serious matters. 4. Practice perspective-taking: Try to see things from a different angle, just as the "vinahapechu" tradition encourages. This can lead to creative problem-solving in other areas of life. 5. Cultivate gratitude: In the midst of celebration, take time to appreciate the good in your life and in the world around you. What We've Learned: A Call for Balance As we navigate the complexities of our modern world, the ancient wisdom of Purim offers a powerful reminder: we need both seriousness and celebration, both engagement and respite. In the words of Harvey Cox: "There is an unnecessary gap in today's world between the world changers and the life celebrators. There is no reason why those who celebrate life cannot also be committed to fundamental social change, and world changers need not be joyless and ascetic." This Purim, I challenge you to embrace both roles. Allow yourself to fully experience the joy and revelry of the holiday, knowing that this celebration can actually fuel your ability to create positive change in the world. As you don your costume and raise your glass, remember that you're participating in a timeless tradition that connects us across cultures and generations. In doing so, you're not just celebrating a historical event – you're affirming the resilience of the human spirit and our capacity for joy, even in the face of adversity. So go forth and celebrate with intention. May your Purim be filled with laughter, connection, and the transformative power of embracing life in all its beautiful contradictions. For this episode we are joined by John Heathershaw, Tena Prelec and Tom Mayne to discuss their new book Indulging Kleptocracy: British Service Providers, Postcommunist Elites, and the Enabling of Corruption. This conversation focuses on professional enablers that provide services to help kleptocrats to launder their reputations, move their money, and gain access to political influence. John Tena and Tom argue that professional enabling is a systemic problem that is facilitated by the concentration of financial and legal expertise in the private sector, and the willingness of professionals to turn a blind eye to the origins of their clients' wealth. They discuss the challenges of regulating professional enabling and offer advice for researchers working in this area. The episode discusses the new book Indulging Kleptocracy, which partly draws on research funded by the GI ACE programme. GI ACE generates actionable evidence that policymakers, practitioners and advocates can use to design and implement more effective anti-corruption initiatives. This project was funded by UK Aid from the UK government. The views expressed in the book do not necessarily reflect the UK Government's official policies. Bad things, worse things and making the best of what you got.In 25 parts, edited from the works of FinalStand.Listen and subscribe to the ► Podcast at Connected.. “Suddenly knowing you are about to die, rarely does anyone any good.”(Thursday)I slipped out of bed, preparing for the trip to the shower when I stepped out and saw Timothy and this black guy I didn't know doing a soft porn version of me and Rhada. Timothy was sleepily amused. His date was anything but."I thought you weren't seeing anyone?" he said in a thick Caribbean accent."That's my roommate," Timothy snorted. "My straight roommate." What can I say, I'm really good looking."I am, Dude," I promised. "I have a girl in my bed and everything. Hell, I didn't even know what the Village Voice was until last night."Timothy laughed. His date was still pissed. Timothy gave his date a final kiss the guy barely accepted. I made for the shower. When I came out, Timothy was in his bathrobe sitting on the sofa."Whoops," I shrugged. This was the first date I'd seen him on since moving in."Better to know they are the jealous kind before I invest too much time," Timothy sighed. "He is beautiful and great in bed. He's also in total denial and now jealous. I won't be returning his calls." I sat down on the sofa next to Timothy and gave him a man-bump."Sorry, Bro. Better luck next time," I consoled him."How many ladies was it last night?" Timothy muttered. He knew I was 'ambitious'."Five; wait, what is the age of consent in this state again?" I grinned."Ah, fuck," Timothy shook his head. "If the cops coming busting down the door; ""Funny you would say that," I chuckled. "Another one is a cop.""Bro, you have a death wish. Cops do background checks and carry guns," he laughed."Her mom is a cop too," I informed him. He shook his head some more."Death wish," he mumbled then headed for the shower. Comparatively, the ride to work was bland and uneventful. I was clever enough to change before setting foot in the Executive Services section.I arrived with two minutes to spare and I was still the last person to arrive. Katrina was at her desk, Desiree was on the sofa and the security team leader from yesterday and one of her aides were sitting in the chairs in front of Katrina."Come stand beside me," Katrina said. I walked over with the added benefit that no one gave any notice of my movements."Cáel, how did you feel about the exercise yesterday morning?" Katrina began."First off, I don't know these ladies' names," I said. Katrina looked at them. Clearly the two were one step above resenting every breath I took."Elsa," the leader stated."Constanza," her aide replied. I bowed my head to Elsa."Elsa, I apologize for my rash words to you, my attitude and any disgrace I put upon either Katrina and/or Desiree," I pled. "I have no excuse." That seemed to have screwed the two new ladies up. Desiree snorted. Katrina had no reaction. I could hear Elsa grind her teeth."Come between me and a charge again and I will kill you," Elsa glared."Come after a charge of mine I'll make you earn it," I snapped back."Only Katrina is keeping you alive at this moment," Elsa stood up as did Constanza."Really?" I sneered. "Katrina, please fire me. I need to take out the trash.""Cáel kneel," Katrina ordered so I knelt."This was a waste of time," Elsa grumbled."Elsa, you scored Cáel at a 92%," Katrina offered."92 out a 1000," I muttered."No, you idiot," Desiree sighed. "It was stated as a percentage. Try and act your age." Katrina coughed in surprised amusement. I thought Desiree being so verbose this early in the morning was the cause."What did he get wrong?" Katrina mused. "It is in your report. I want you to tell him.""He ignored his initial instinct to retire to the dwelling, he failed to issue orders to his charges, he missed his partner going down, and he reloaded before his clip was empty," she detailed."How many current members of the security detail have scored higher on their initial trial?" Katrina persisted. There was a long pause."One; me," Elsa answered. I was impressed; with myself. I had the inbred instincts to get myself killed for people who hated me. I snickered."You find something amusing?" Katrina looked at me."In retrospect, I should have realized it was a test. Come on, I don't have a gun license, no serious firearms training and the vast majority of Havenstone personnel hate my guts," I explained my humor. "There was no realistic way I would be assigned to guard kids.""I'm so used to being treated like shit here, I missed the obvious," I concluded. Another pause."Why did you break cover to tackle Loraine? You abandoned Aya and Europa," Elsa asked."I wasn't really thinking about it," I answered. "I saw her in the open, in danger, and I had the other two crouched down next to the car. I leapt. Sorry, it was nothing more complicated than that.""What did you think when you saw Desiree lying on the ground?" Elsa prodded."Crap; ah," I tried to recall. "Nothing really. I noticed the one woman to the North still standing. I wanted to kill her then roll over and shoot the two to the South.""They would have killed you," Constanza informed me."As opposed to what? I mistakenly thought I had bullets," I shrugged. "While I had any chance I had to keep fighting.""You could have surrendered?" Elsa studied me."You wouldn't have. Why should I?" I responded."You are not me in so many relevant ways," Elsa stated. Desiree gave an infinitesimal groan."Don't worry about it," I nodded. "Despite your failings, I'm still willing to accept you as an equal.""That is a deadly insult," Elsa seethed."Oh, look," I came back with a predatory grin, "you're angry. Kind of the way I am having done a bang up job only to have you belittle my performance despite having no training, or warning. Believing you are better than me because you have tits makes as much sense as me thinking that having a dick makes you the weaker sex. Its bigotry and stupid. Worse, it is a tactical flaw.""Tell me," Katrina rose up majestically, "that his last three sentences make no sense. Please, lie to me and say the man is wrong." Elsa didn't respond. "I asked you to test his instincts and you gave him the second hardest test we have and that's only because I vetoed the hardest. If you honestly think he cannot help us, make that pledge now." Another pause."He hit everything he aimed at," Elsa suddenly volunteered. "It was all close range. He didn't panic and he never left mission. If he had tits, I would have been impressed. I am still opposed to him having a weapon. His attitude is also grating.""I have to work with him," Desiree complained."If I express to Hayden the possibility that those men who pass Security testing be allowed to be trained with weapons, will you support me?" Katrina requested."Never!" Elsa exclaimed."Thank you for your opinion and honesty, Elsa," Katrina nodded. "I will see you later."The two security experts left the room."Stand," Katrina sighed. I stood. "You gave it your best shot, I know. Do not trouble yourself with doubts, Cáel Nyilas. No attitude you could have taken would have altered her thinking in the slightest.""Huh?" I mumbled. Katrina looked at me. My grin was infectious. "Sorry, did you say something? I was visually evaluating their potential as they were leaving the room." Translation: I was scoping out their muscular asses as they sauntered out the door. Paula and Daphne walked in."Cáel, do not talk about your activity yesterday morning, or of the events this morning with anyone," Katrina ordered. I nodded. I made for my desk but Katrina stopped me. In the same manner, she requested that Desiree stay. Three minutes before seven, the last new hire arrived, Violet."Everyone except Desiree, Daphne and Cáel leave the room. I will summon you back in a few minutes," Katrina commanded. Confused and curious, the other new hires left the room. As the door shut, she had Daphne secure the lock while she drew forth a folded piece of paper which she unfolded and handed to me. Wow, I had never thought I'd see my death sentence yet here it was."Read it," she demanded. Yes, I was boned."These are the words of Katrina, daughter of Sedona, granddaughter of Andromeda of the House of Epona, First Bearer of the Sun Spear through the Halls of Night and Death;” followed by a series of awards, accolades and honors I could barely fathom the importance of.I read it in the language it was written as this was clearly Katrina's intent. Desiree scooted to the edge of the sofa cushion. Daphne's eyes were wide, exhibiting the spectrum of excitement, fear and amazement. She spoke first."You got the 'uh' wrong," Daphne corrected me. "It is 'Andromadu' in our tongue, not 'Andromeda'.""Well this makes a few things make a lot more sense," Desiree mumbled."Katrina," Daphne gulped. "You didn't teach him, did you?""No. It was Dr. Kimberly Geisler of Bolingbrook College who taught him; so they could read erotic poetry to one another," Katrina revealed. "He was never her student; in a classroom.""Cáel not only speaks four current languages (French, Spanish, and Russian), he also is fluent in ten dead ones," Katrina related. "Dr. Geisler and I had a long chat last night. Once she opened up, she was quite informative and full of praise for our new hire."Daphne blathered something while looking at me expectantly. When I didn't respond she became disappointed. Then it hit me."You are translating from the Coptic, aren't you?" I questioned."Yes," I had her intense attention once more."What you meant to say was 'may the blessed Isis bring understanding with this greeting'," I translated for her into New Kingdom Egyptian."Once you get to Coptic you have so much Macedonian/Ptolemaic influence it is far beyond New Kingdom Egyptian," I added."

A new school in San Antonio called Nukudu offers a paid training program followed by a guaranteed job in cybersecurity. The program aims to address the shortage of cyber jobs and provides hands-on training to ensure candidates are prepared for the workforce. Our guest, Dr. Thomas Hyslop, an assistant professor at the University of South Florida, shares his experience in law enforcement and the importance of interagency collaboration in combating cybercrime. He also discusses the Master of Science in Cybercrime program at USF, which focuses on digital forensics and criminal investigation. The future of cybercrime is concerning as large criminal organizations are becoming more sophisticated and mimicking nation states in their capabilities. Investigating international cybercrime is challenging due to the need for cooperation between countries and the slow response times. Changes in international treaties and agreements are needed to expedite investigations. Dr. Highslip ran a museum of vintage technology and is looking for a place to house it permanently. He enjoys swimming in Mirror Lake, biking on Champs-Elysees, and running in DC for his ideal triathlon. His favorite junk food treat is Bit-O-Honey and he loves all kinds of pies. Guns N' Roses is his favorite hair metal band and his favorite song is Paradise City. He enjoys playing metal songs at social gatherings and believes that Appetite for Destruction is a timeless album. Dr. Highslip has what it takes to join the fantasy cybersecurity squad and is a force multiplier with his expertise in incident response and alternative theories for obtaining information from foreign governments.takeawaysNukudu offers a paid training program followed by a guaranteed job in cybersecurity to address the shortage of cyber jobs.Interagency collaboration is crucial in combating cybercrime, and federal law enforcement plays a significant role in stopping cybercriminals. The Master of Science in Cybercrime program at the University of South Florida focuses on digital forensics and criminal investigation.Team building and collaboration are essential skills in cybersecurity and are emphasized in the education of future cybersecurity professionals. During pregnancy, it is important to focus on a healthy rate of weight gain and prioritize overall well-being rather than weight loss or body composition. Consuming diet sodas in moderation is generally considered acceptable, but it is important to listen to your body and make choices that align with your goals and preferences. Hydration is important, and while spreading water intake throughout the day is beneficial, it is not necessary to adhere to a strict schedule. When it comes to eating around exercise, personal preference and gastrointestinal comfort should be considered, rather than specific macronutrient timing. There are many inspiring individuals in the fitness industry who can provide valuable insights and motivation. Indulging in guilty pleasure foods occasionally can be enjoyable and should be balanced with an overall healthy lifestyle.

The Tropical MBA Podcast - Entrepreneurship, Travel, and Lifestyle
This week we had the pleasure of sitting down with Barry O'Brien, a global traveler, as he shares his 18-month journey to 15 countries on just $100 a day or less. Barry tells us stories about his experience in Vietnam, the most surprisingly underwhelming destination he visited, the most expensive and inexpensive destinations, how he saved, prepared, and what he learned in the end. He discusses his journey from following Dave Ramsey's steps to discovering the FIRE movement and combining the principles of both to pay off $51,000 of debt, and give him the financial freedom to pursue his dream trip. He talks about the importance of passive income, his philosophy of focusing on one thing that you can do well, the process of obtaining US citizenship, and the challenges and opportunities it presents. Limbeck: To rack the brain and exhaust yourself in an effort to come up with a new idea. Proggle: To poke, prod, or grubble about. Gyles' poem this week was 'Shakespeare at School' by Wendy Cope Forty boys on benches with their quills Six days a week through almost all the year, Long hours of Latin with relentless drills And repetition, all enforced by fear. I picture Shakespeare sitting near the back, Indulging in a risky bit of fun By exercising his prodigious knack Of thinking up an idiotic pun, And whispering his gem to other boys, Some of whom could not suppress their mirth – Behaviour that unfailingly annoys Any teacher anywhere on earth. The fun was over when the master spoke: Will Shakespeare, come up here and share the joke. A Sony Music Entertainment production.
