These podcasts are done to tell the tale of what has been a wonderful and sometimes strange life. As the saying goes, When the Going Gets Weird, the Weird Turn Pro! And baby, I am all pro.
In this fifth and final podcast, I make a trip to LaCygne. I interview 3 people including the person who lives in what everyone in town calls the Murder House. I then interview a lady that had lived in the area for 30 plus years and who still lives only a block or so from the house where Alonzo Broosk was killed. And finally, I run into a past resident of LaCygne who basically spills the beans on who everyone in town knows killed Alonzo Brooks and how they did it. I had intentionally left the names of these individuals out of the previous podcasts because I couldn't get any firm confirmation of their involvement but I was handed that info on a silver platter by this former resident. And finally, we discuss how I think this case is very actively being pursued by the FBI and how I think it's ready to break wide open and how you can get involved and help.
In this 4th episode, Alonzo Brooks body is taken to the Coroners office but, and which will come as a shock to absolutely no one who has listened to this case, the coroner does what might be the worst autopsy in history. And I think he does it intentionally after getting pressure by whomever is in the seat of authority to gain the last piece of the puzzle in getting this case closed. Despite Alonzo's body being seen by nearly 20 people who claim the body is in near pristine condition, the coroner claims that the body is so badly decomposed that he cannot determine the cause of death. And this by a doctor who has been summarily run out of New York on rails due to his VERY sketch past, and ends up in the tiny town of LaCygne where it turns out, he will fit right in. And during his autopsy, not a shred of evidence that could be used in the prosecution of whomever killed Alonzo is taken. No scrapping's from under his fingernails, no hair samples were taken, his clothes weren't inspected and were then thrown away. Absolutely everything was done to help continue the cover up of who killed Alonzo and nothing was done according to the rule of law.
In this 3rd podcast of Alonzo Brooks, his body is found. But not during the 2 week search conducted by the Kansas KBI or FBI, with helicopters, cadaver dogs, an Underwater Search and rescue Team and a total of about 60 of Kansas's finest and brightest. But rather by two elderly women who find the body in less than 30 minutes after arriving on the property after everyone else had given up. Just one more really suspicious turn in this case but it of course wouldn't be the last.
In this second podcast, the family and friends of Alonzo Brooks begin their search. And meet up with strong resistance from not only one of Alonzo's friends, who it just happens was supposed to be the one to give Alonzo a ride home. But also from other sources such as the homeowner where the party occurred and his ever-changing stories. But also from the first person in a seat of authority to be notified about the missing boy. And the blunders and mis-steps begin in earnest in what will turn out to be just the tip of the iceberg in a slew of simply confounding mistakes. Or are they mistakes as all??? Or is it just the initial stages of the coverup that has gone on for nearly 20 years and continues to this day. You get to start making your now decisions about who knows what and how this cover up is still taking place in this second podcast.
In this first true crime podcast series called Murder and Money as part of our Fear and Loathing Series, we start with the still unexplained and unsolved murder of a young man in a tiny town in SE Kansas and the cover up that ensued. A cover up that has endured for nearly 20 years despite a huge cash reward and the best efforts of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation as well as the Kansas Branch of the FBI and dozens of local police and task forces being involved. In this first of a series of short podcasts, we discuss how Alonzo Brooks was "accidentally" left at a party about 40 miles from his hometown of Gardner Kansas and subsequently disappeared without a trace.
Hmmmmmmmmm. This podcast discovers the meaning of True Love and how you can test your relationship with your wife or girlfriend to see if they really truly love you or if your relationship is not as strong as you might have thought. We then discuss how to get thrown out of a casino in Las Vegas which is actually really tough to do-for some of us. But not my friends. And as always, I mix in some personal stories of Fear and Loathing as I get thrown out of 2 Dallas bars in just over an hour for what I consider-no good reason at all.
This podcasts covers how I caddied and partied really really hard with a guy named Carl in the 1988 PGA Championship in my hometown of Edmond Oklahoma. Which lead to me meeting his childhood friend Paul Azinger who at the time was the number one golfer on earth and playing two practice rounds with him before the tournament. We then head to New Orleans for a Super Bowl and have a great time in the Big Easy with my new friend and have a close encounter with Jerry Rice, Brett Farve, the police and drive a really fast motor home and not in that order. We also throw in a couple of stories about how I met Pete Dye and how he helped me design a golf course from his private helicopter. All big fun in the mantra of Hunter S.
This is just a shorty story of how I found a small book in an old bookstore and how that lead to my hiking adventures in Yellowstone Park and how our first BIG hike went sideways rather quickly. Funny stuff and a good life lesson about how keeping a good attitude matters a LOT.
This is just a fun listen about my buddy Mike nearly drowning on the Kitchen Sink Rapids on the Bear Trap Canyon and then your truly nearly doing the exact same thing 10 years later. It's always fun to hear people nearly loose their lives and I did have a rather spiritual experience when I simply gave up and waited to drown. I discuss that here.
This podcast tells the tale of how a young boy saved the life of a small child from drowning. Then as an adult, the same boy who is now a man, gives up his own life to save another boy from drowning. We then cover some really funny stories about beer busts, dicks so big they caused a 5 car pile up and when a mans word meant everything-and how it still does. And last but not least, how being nice to someone can change everything.
This podcast tells the sad but true story of my old friend Mark Valle and perhaps the most impressive 36 hours of my life. I see Phil Jackson the day he took the job as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers but then nearly drown in the Yellowstone River only to be saved so I can introduce Table Diving into the lexicon of bar fun in the United States. I then have divine intervention again in my decision making and we throw in a story about Mark's get rich quick scheme that made national headlines in the process.
This podcasts tells the tale of an FBI agent I kept crossing paths with named Willis who carried a duffle bag full of guns and cocaine with him constantly. We travel to Vail to do a little skiing with my cousin Freddy. I throw in a quick story about a really strange but fun loving bunch of boys named the Morris's who were just filthy rich and partied like rock stars but one of them gets run over by the "drunk bus" in Vail during a protest of sort. A sad but true and very apropos story about how one of my friends met his demise. When then finish off with a bunch of asshole kids who cross paths with Willis and I and it doesn't end well for them on the way up Vail Pass when they get to look down the barrel of a Desert Eagle. The largest hand gun on earth.
This podcast really covers a lot of ground. We go over how I lucked my way into sideline press passes to all Oklahoma Sooner games, both home and away for 12 years while we won 3 national championships with me on the sidelines for every game I wanted to go to. I then cover how that morphed into an 8 year relationship with the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs Lamar Hunt. I discuss meetings with Lamar and the Chiefs where I spoke my mind like always and ended up installing the turf for the Kansas City Chiefs one week and the the OU Sooners the very next. I also ended up with unreal tickets to 8 superbowls absolutely free on the Chiefs dime thanks to my buddy Lamar and how I sat next to Brett Farve at one of those games. I go over how I ended up with an all access pass to Pink Floyds 1994 world wide tour and how I met all the members of the band and because a guy named Dave got too drunk one night, I ended up with one of only 20 jackets ever made for that Pink Floyd tour which is the cover shot of this podcast. I finish up with a nice story about a little polygamy for the icing on the cake for this whirlwind podcast i n true Hunter Thompson style.
This podcast covers a spur of the moment trip from buy high school gym class to Los Angeles where I meet Sting of the Police right when their first album hits the charts. Hear a great story from Capital Records about the Beatles A Day In The Life and the Beach Boys and Brian Wilson. I get up into the Sin Din at the Whisky and carve my name next to the great Jim Morrison. I almost get arrested and get away with it all with a little help from my friends.
This podcast covers the Tuesday April 19, 1995 Murray Building bombing in Oklahoma City. And how somehow my buddy Joe and I ended up getting passes on Friday evening to go down and check everything out. But we unwittingly get thrown into helping the FBI, ATF and the firemen who were working at the bomb site for hours help find bodies in the rubble. After working for hours, we find out what we are really looking for.
This podcast tells the tale of a great trip out to LV with me and my buddy Joe and our unwitting accomplice Sam when the Rat Pack was still running around and the Sands was the place to be and we were right in the middle of it. Big fun at the Rivera where we won a HUGE amount of money, heckled Rodney Dangerfield who at the time was the biggest most famous comedian of the day. And then a night flight to the world famous chicken ranch on a banana yellow Cessna with a chicken with a golf club on its side.
