Acts 2:42-47 Looking at the internal practices of the early church can allow us to see the will of God for his body to move in the communities they are in. Devoting themselves to his purposes and vision.
Acts 2:1-41 The promised gift from Jesus came to the disciples and the gospel was shared to add 3000 to their number. God was glorified!
Acts 1:12-26 We study the selection of the next Apostle and God's sovereign will continuing to guide the believers as they are dedicated to the word and devoted to prayer.
Acts 1:1-11 Introducing our new study through the book of Acts. We look at the background and outline of the book as given in 1:8 and the charge that is given to the church to be his witnesses as we await his return.
Luke 24 This Resurrection Sunday we focus in on how Jesus has perfectly redeemed us, and how the gospel message is simple and clear. We need to remember who he is and what he has done for us.
Ruth 4 A Kinsman Redeemer must have the right to redeem, the ability to redeem, and the willingness to redeem. Boaz has all of these qualities as he reflects a beautiful portrait of Christ.
Ruth 3 Looking at the plan of Naomi for them to find rest shows the importance of what a kinsman redeemer brings about, rest. For Ruth and Naomi, this rest would be reflected in marriage. For us as believers rest is found in the redemption of Christ
Ruth 2 As we looked at the resolve and determination of Ruth to love Naomi, her land, people and God; we see the response of what that determination entails. The responses of Boaz, her, and Noami. The love of God demands a response. Will we respond in faith or fear?
Ruth 1 As we begin our look at Ruth and the redemption phase, we also understand the struggles that relationships come from in order to find redemption. Many times we can look to so many places for redemption, but the one true place is found in the Lord.
A message by elder Phil Enke to help focus our identities to Christ as we focus on a true picture of Heaven
Today as we finish Hosea, we look at the final call to repentance from the prophet and God's promise to restore his people.
Hosea 12-13 Unfaithfulness Today we talk about the third accusation against the people of Israel, their unfaithfulness to the Lord. The people were deceptive and dishonest which would lead to destruction as a judgment against them for breaking the covenant. God repeatedly calls on the people to return to him, and when that message is not heard, judgement comes.
Hosea 10-11 The prosperity of Israel was mistaken for their own deeds and power. Rather than seeing the luxury of being God's chosen people, those chased after and loved idols and other things. The judgement coming was a discipline to allow them to know God. We need to be mindful of our own wandering and ungrateful hearts for the prosperity that God has given us in salvation.
Hosea 8-9 The section of no love for God continues as Hosea describes areas of rebellion and sin where they are loving other things over God. His warning comes to a people who think they know God, but God is driving them away in exile for betraying the covenant.
Hosea 6 and 7 We move into the second focus of the accusations against the people of God, they had no love for him. Continually calling us back to the first issue of no knowledge of God, it is hard to have love for Him or others when we don't know Him. Israel looked to other things to love and obsess over, we need to be aware of this pattern in our own life as well.
Hosea 5:1-6:3 Look at the accusations for all the people in terms of the lack of knowledge for God, God calls on them to repent and seek him. They will face exile and judgement for their unfaithfulness and turning to other things in life. What are the things that we turn to for healing and cure instead of the Lord.
Hosea 4 Today we look at the start of the accusations against Israel. Hosea starts with the priests and the prophets to stress how the nation has been led into no knowledge of God, no love, and no faithfulness. The rest of the book will highlight these three areas.
Hosea 3 As we look at the command to love again, who is our Gomer? Who is it that God calls us to love that have been unfaithful to the relationship? By symbolizing his own love for the people of Israel, God shows Hosea how to love his wayward wife.
Hosea 2:2-23 Chapter 2 deals with the beginning accusations against Israel and Gomer. We also see 2 sections of the promise of restoration. God's desire is for us to know him, and when we are caught chasing other things, it will impact all of our relationships.
Hosea 1:1-2:1 Today we begin our look into Hosea and cover some background information and look through the overview of the first chapter. We discover the important themes of an unfaithful people and a long-suffering God symbolized by the marriage of Hosea and Gomer.
Philippians 3:12-4:1 Looking at Paul's words to the Philippians, we carry on his message to bring us into a firm faith for the upcoming year
Luke 2:10-11 Today we look at the importance of joy in our walks with the Lord. He is the source of our joy, and when we replace him with earthly things, we will be disappointed.
Luke 2:14 Today we look at the theme of Peace for the second week of Advent. As we explore the depth of this theme and topic, we see how peace is rooted in the person of Christ who came to grant us peace with God through his death and resurrection.
Today we walk through the gospels to see how Jesus is the light of the world, our true hope. All of our expectations must be found in Him.
Psalm 136 As we focus on the theme of Thanksgiving, we can explore the scriptures to find passages all throughout the Bible that detail what we are to be thankful for, and to whom. Scripture is clear, that God is worth of our Thanksgiving and praise
Song of Solomon 8:5-8:14 As we look at how this book finishes, we need to be mindful of our own walks and how we as Christians will finish. Who or what are we leaning on for strength? Who are we protecting and who is protecting us? What is the fruit coming out of our vineyard, and is our desire for the Lord to come? All reflection questions that point us to a deeper intimacy and longing for Christ.
Song of Solomon 7:11-8:4 Today we look at the shortest idyll to see how the bride pursues her husband. Her desire for closeness and intimacy is something that we all need to model and incorporate in our own lives in our relationship with Christ.
Song of Solomon 6:4-7:10 Today we look at life after the wedding, and how the ideal in love will celebrate purity, maturity and delight. Our desires should be for these things in our relationship with Jesus, and the relationships around us.
Song of Solomon 5:2-6:3 Today we talk about a possible dream or a deeper look at the moment of conception. All the while understanding who is really knocking on the door.
Song of Solomon 3:6-5:1 Today we look at a closer more intimate look at the wedding day and a description of how Solomon views his bride. This brings out a challenge and admonishment for our husbands to present their brides before the Lord in proper ways, to lead them spiritually in the way they are called to, and have modeled by Christ.
Song of Solomon 2:8-3:5 Today we discuss the courtship days of the bride and groom. The understanding of the depths of love continue and the refrain of not awakening love before its time is stressed once again.
Song of Solomon 1:1-2:7 Beginning our look into the honeymoon phase of relationships, we look back at the wedding day of this couple. Look at some staples of love, in how it confronts insecurities, it incorporates all the senses, it is humble and patient. Understanding these things in our marriages and faith can help us go deeper.
2 Tim 3 As we transition into the main part of the series, we tie up the introduction messages, looking at more difficult texts and turn our focus towards Song of Solomon. Today we are reminded of the pride and selfishness in our relationships and understand that we need to rely on God to overcome and persevere through, understanding his grace to a greater degree.
Judges 20-21 Today we see the response of Israel to the atrocities of Gibeah and as we think about how selfishness and pride impact the decisions of Israel, how do they impact the lives of us today still when it comes to the relationships that we have.
Judges 19 Today we will start our look into Judges 19-21 and the principle of how when there is no king, the people will do whatever is right in their own eyes.
2 Sam. 13 Today we continue our look into sexual abuse by adding in the topic of incest as we talk about David's family. When abuse happens within the family, it is difficult on many levels to address. But righteousness needs to prevail and consequences had in order to honor what the Lord has said.
Gen 34 Today we begin a difficult discussion surrounding sexual abuse. Looking at Dinah and Shechem, we see the chaos surrounding a rape. Where the turmoil causes, silence, negotiating, deception and varying ideas about justice. We look at bad people behaving badly throughout this account. As Christians, how can we seek the Lord in the hard times that can bring healing to hurting people? How can we seek his ways above our own?
2 Sam. 11-12; Discussing the topic of adultery, we talk about David and Bathsheba and look deeper into the temptations that steer us away from the will of God in our lives. After being confronted with his sin, David draws closer to the father. Something that all of us need to do more.
Today we look at regulations from Deut. 22, and Matthew 5. Looking primarily at the regulations for the prohibition for this week. This message will continue into some examples next week.
Gen. 38, Joshua 2, Luke 7 Today we look specifically at the fragmentation of the ideal into making physical sex acts a business proposition. Even within those experiences we can still see the redemption and grace of God at work as we continue to pursue wholeness and oneness in Christ.
Today we discuss the continued downward spiral of wickedness in humanity as it relates to relationships. Defining and discussing concubines and polygamy as ways in which the ideal was broken and culture dictated ways opposite of God's teaching.
Gen. 4 Today we look at the breakdown of sibling relationships with Cain and Abel. It is plain to see how steadily humanity is plunging into wickedness and alienation from God.
Gen 3:14-24 Looking at the punishments and curses handed down by God, we see his justice, mercy and grace as the effects of sin begin to take root.
Gen 3 Today we look at the temptation and fall of humanity, breaking down how the fall has impacted our relationships on many levels.
Gen 1 and 2, Gospel of John Today as we begin the new series we look at the ideal relationship of the Trinity and how Adam and Eve were made in the image and likeness of God to reflect that unity and oneness. Looking at the ideal will help us understand the fallen nature that we can find ourselves in.
After a break due to the loss of our building to a tornado, we are back to our podcast. There are some frequency issues, but we are working out the kinks to our portable set up. Today we are just beginning our series on relationships, laying out the path and addressing a reoccurring problem in most relationships, pride.
Today we scratch the surface on a more in depth topic with the issue of absolute truth and morality. An obstacle to faith that tells us truth is relative and what is right for you may not be right for me. This narrative has impacted the church in devasting ways and we need to understand that God gives his moral standard in the word, and he expects obedience.
Psalm 1, 128, Lamentations 3, Ecc. 2 Today we look at the obstacle of happiness, where our culture celebrates the narrative of doing what you want that makes you feel happy. In the endless pursuit of fun experiences, we rush around seeking an end goal that will never be satisfied. We instead need to rest in the satisfaction of the Lord's salvation.
1 Cor. 6:12-20, 1 Cor. 10:23-24, John 8:32-33, Gal. 5:1 Today we discuss the obstacle that freedom plays to our faith. Our understanding is tainted by the worldview that expresses the belief that we are free to do what we want as long as it is not hurting someone else. The biblical understanding of freedom from oppression gets lost in the noise of the culture around us.
1 Pet. 1:3-9 One Resurrection Sunday, we look to the hope that we have in our Risen Lord and Savior. We look at the wonderful mercy of God to fulfill the plan of redemption, and the joy that we have in Christ! He is Risen!
