Welcome to JMU Sports Blog, where amazing things happen.
basketball, coverage, source, guys, best, listening, love, great, jmu sports.
Listeners of JMU Sports Blog that love the show mention: go dukes,The JMU Sports Blog podcast is by far the best means for staying up to date on JMU sports news and its culture. I always look forward to hearing from Rob and Todd, as they provide a refreshing and entertaining perspective on JMU sports. This podcast is perfect for fans who love to chew the fat about their favorite teams.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the genuine and passionate approach that Rob and Todd bring to each episode. They are just a couple of fans who truly love JMU sports, and their enthusiasm is contagious. Whether they are discussing football, basketball, or even lesser-known sports like softball, basketball, and volleyball, they provide in-depth coverage that satisfies any die-hard fan's craving for information.
Another great aspect of this podcast is the guest appearances by DNR reporters and exclusive interviews with coaches. This shows that Rob and Todd are dedicated to providing their listeners with a real feel for the teams they cover. It also adds credibility to their podcast and sets it apart from other amateur sports podcasts.
However, one downside of The JMU Sports Blog podcast is its narrow focus on JMU sports. While this may not be an issue for hardcore fans of the university, it may limit the appeal of the podcast to a wider audience. Additionally, if you're looking for intellectual discussions on politics or history related to JMU or its founding father James Madison, you won't find it here. This podcast is purely focused on FCS football, low major basketball, women's softball, basketball, and volleyball.
In conclusion, The JMU Sports Blog podcast is a great source of information and entertainment for any fan of JMU sports. Rob and Todd's passion for their alma mater shines through in every episode, making it enjoyable to listen along as they discuss all things related to JMU athletics. While it may not have a broad appeal outside of die-hard fans or those specifically interested in FCS sports, it is definitely worth a listen if you want to stay up to date on JMU sports news and join in on the conversation.
Rob and Todd look back at the lame duck year for JMU sports and give the teams that were boxed out of playing for conference championships some love.
In this episode Todd and Rob take a look back at the first 25 years of this century and attempt to determine what the best year was for JMU sports.
In the episode the guys look ahead to the Spring football game, the new premium seating options, and other nonsense.
The guys record a quick episode from the road (literally) on their way back from a quick trip up to PA. In it, they talk about both hoops teams and look forward to the mega-byes in the Sun Belt Tournament.
Todd and Rob are back from the longest break they've ever taken. And the boys are ready to discuss both JMU hoops teams.
Looking back at JMU's first bowl victory and year one the Chesney era! Plus all the usual holiday shenanigans with annual guests Coach Priz and Dric! Here's to even more magic in 2025!
Bowls are underwhelming of course but this year sure is a whole more fun than last year!
That was a tough senior night but we're fighting off any gloom! Much love to all of our little corner of the JMU world!
We try to process one of the most disappointing JMU games in many years. We share frustration about the Xs and Os, outright anger about the fan experience, and some emotional optimism from the true heart of Dukes' fandom. Love y'all!
JMU football secured its third straight dub in the Royal Rivalry and heads up the Mountain this week!
Football cruised against Georgia St. and heads to Norfolk for a big one this weekend. Plus WSOC wins the Belt and plays Ohio St. first in the big dance. MSOC takes on Marshall in the SBC semis.
JMU didn't play its best but they took advantage of a get-right opponent and have a bye to prep for a suddenly wide-open SBC East home stretch! Both soccer teams and Field Hockey revving up for potentially huge #EverythingSchool postseason runs.
Sometimes reality is bleak. But JMU the everything school is just fine!
Looking back at Coastal and ahead to a monster game in Statesboro!
Here's hoping the big game Thursday Night cleanses the stink of this sucky one. Man that one hurt.
We might need one more data point in SBC play this week but the Chesney era is starting to roll a bit. And supporting our friends in Boone.
How we feeling Dukes fans?! JMU hangs 70 on the Heels and everything seems possible again.
Really fun episode checking in on both Soccer teams, Field Hockey, Volleyball, and a school record in Golf. Plus some real optimism and curiosity is back for this weekend's game down in Chapel Hill. (Spoiler: everyone is now sleeping on the Dukes). And a few OTs and a corrected answer from last week.
Keep Calm and Root for Dukes. A whole lot of sweating and frustration for Dukes on the field and in the stands. But JMU escaped disaster with a stronger 2nd half and the bye week certainly comes with a LOT to work on. Spoiler warning: very few takes in this episode
With Todd out of town, Rob is joined by Chase Kiddy to talk all about the JMU Dukes 30-7 win over the Charlotte 49ers. They discuss what the win means in the big picture, the play of QB1, try to figure out the offense, and wonder if Biff Poggi might have been right.
The big one is here! Rob is reasonable, Todd is chugging all the purple drank!
The fellas are finally back in season as Fall Camp races towards kickoff in Charlotte! And after finally digging into the roster this week ALL of our hopes/dreams/expectations are back to a Dukes-appropriate sky-high level. Do NOT sleep on this team being better than last years!
We're back! Sorry not sorry. And we're here to talk Olympic Dukes, CFL Dukes, NBA Summer League Dukes and more. Plus starting to really hone in on football season with a few big questions! Go fish with Mossy Creek
Well that was fun as hell! Like lots of Dukes fans, we had a joyous weekend watching the Diamond Dukes. They made us proud, brought us back to baseball, and even knocked out an SEC team along the way. What a capper to the glorious 23-24 year!
After an historic season that completed a huge turnaround for the program, JMU baseball (yes, baseball!) will keep this magical year in JMU Sports rolling into June this year. We're not experts but we can't wait to watch this team in the Raleigh Regional this weekend against NC State, South Carolina, and Bryant. Can the #EverythingSchool do it again!?
All Dukes, zero beef. Lax makes the tourney and looks for a refresh. Baseball very much in contention, and the last of the World Series Softball Dukes look to stun the SBC in Texas this week!
Todd got a chance to check out the first public display under Coach Chesney. And we talk about Baseball and Softball starting to look like contenders in a loaded Sun Belt. Finally, back to our roots with an old-school, nonsensical OT!
Masters, AD search, Dukettes!, Softball, Kiki, Spradlin on fire, spring game talk, etc. Hopefully this is the last episode till we fix our platform
The boys finally look back on a glorious men's hoops season and look ahead to the Coach Spradlin era with renewed enthusiasm. Plus they begin the process of turning to Spring sports and whether hopes/dreams/expectations can be matched by results.
The Dukes down Wisconsin, Duke up Next! This is really just two old friends and huge JMU fans recording our own checkin after a magical night in Brooklyn! No plans, bad audio, pure happiness! Shop at Mossy Creek!
Off Wisconsin! The Dukes are headed to Brooklyn to face the Badgers and might get a shot at Duke with a dub (don't sleep on the HoopCats though!). We get excited for this run and then talk WBIT top seed women's hoops, lax, and a helluva a weekend on both diamonds. Plus President Alger's announced departure.
Immediate postgame reaction after the JMU Men's Basketball team wins the Sun Belt tourney and punches its ticket to March Madness!
The boys nervously prep for a Sun Belt tourney week like none they've experienced at JMUSB.
So much goodness going on with Dukes right now. Hoops, Lacrosse is ranked #2, Softball is back-back! Baseball might even be good again.
Lacrosse opened the season with a national statement, Softball is back up, and both Hoops Teams makes the turn for home. Plus some big-picture thoughts on seating and contracts
An old school roundup as some highly touted spring sports start this week and both Hoops teams have big opportunities as they hit crunch time!
Both basketball teams had great weeks and have huge matchups this week as the heart of conference play has arrived. Plus Todd probably offends some well-meaning Dukes fans with a rant at the end.
Don't look now but there's a whole lot of incredible Dukes stuff on tap for 2024. Are you ready to watch an all-time great attempt to put herself on the JMU Mt. Rushmore this spring? What about a reloaded Softball? Maybe an MLB debut? And that's all before we even talk about postseason contending hoops teams. And oh yeah, and we're not supposed to say this out loud, but could football have “more” talent?
This one's for us, but we hope our close friends and JMUSB fam will get some laughs out of it as well. There's actually a surprising amount of sports given our past Xmas episodes. But of course we jump around between 2024 JMU resolutions, best/worst social media of 2023, SBC in year two, go-to potluck dishes, Xmas music, our favorite 2023 music, and can the Dukes make the Sweet 16?! Plus there's too much egg nog consumed. Happy Holidays to all and thanks for another wild year!
Initial thoughts, and all the good vibes, about the hire of Bob Chesney as the new Head Ball Coach. And the happy end of a tough week that felt like a decade.
Great day to be a Duke! Always.
And we all thought Thanksgiving week couldn't get crazier than Gameday?! But what another whirlwind week ends the way they always do, with it being a great time to be a Duke! We both had a LOT to say this week.
The boys make a mostly futile attempt to process a week filled with every human emotion imaginable. There's so much here from the heartbreaking loss to the highest highs, even during this game. Plus Gameday and hoops (we're not talking enough about hoops) and volleyball and soccer (we're realllly not talking enough about this!) and love for fellow Dukes!
Wow, there's a few good things going on for the Dukes (they are the best). The fellas revel in a week that has us bouncing between seventeen items that would normally anchor our content for weeks. Football, futbol, hoops, Gameday, etc., et al!
JMU crushed Georgia St.'s soul with a dominant performance and are now ranked 21st! Lots of postseason discussion/venting on this one but it's also opening night for both basketball teams.
The fellas try to calm down after an exhausting Homecoming Week both in the stadium and online
The Dukes are rolling! We put the noise aside and enjoy the hell out of this incredibly fun team.
Hoo boy was that dominant performance against Georgia Southern fun to review. And now the Dukes have a true program first ahead with THE Thursday national game at Marshall and we can't wait! In OT, we prove how old and out of touch we are (very) discussing pregame hype ideas poorly.
We're thrilled to be back with what's become an annual tradition - an in-depth preview of women's hoops with Head Coach Sean O'Regan talking us through all it will take to defend the Dukes' Sun Belt title (1:00)! Plus of course we talk some football with a huge game coming Saturday (45:00)
Score didn't necessarily reflect it but the Dukes played there best yet in breaking South Al at Bridgeforth this week! As we head into a well-earned and much-needed bye, we start to think about whether JMU can make it 6 (or more) this season.
Let's talk this out and never speak of this one again. Dukes dominated, collapsed, escaped! But did we find the offense?! Enormous challenge up next with South Al in town for Family Weekend!
