It's my first cross-post crossover episode! I didn't think there was a better way to end Breast Cancer Awareness month than with this interview. I was interviewed by The B Word Unpacked, the podcast for Goodstock Consulting, about my diagnosis and journey to date with aya breast cancer. These ladies are amazing and were my introduction to identifying and eradicating racial disparities in medicine. Please enjoy and don't forget your monthly self breast exam.
There is no better way to break the hiatus than with my interview with @cassscroggins. Cassie is a mom of three boys, soon to be four! She is a blogger and a self admitted Dr. Pepper addict living in Las Vegas. She encourages and empowers moms to build their best lives and she is leader by an amazing example. I found Cassie's podcast on how to start a podcast. And as a lover of all thing Meta, I was instantly drawn to the concept. Cassie it is because of you that I have a podcast and I am grateful to you. Happy Listening fam!
I am so excited about this episode of the podcast. I feel accomplished interviewing another mom with a podcast of her own. Terri aka MomLikeThat is so funny and real and that's my kind of mom friend. I hope you enjoy it. In Terri's words, “You mom like this, I mom like this. We all mom differently but love our kids the same.” Happy listening and love in every hue! xx Lauren
What can I say? There isn't a better way to close out the month of August than with an interview with Arianna. She is hilarious with a side of harsh truth. She's an author, blogger, activist, cartoonist and a MOM! She wrote a book about parenting titled Shame on You: Big Truths from a Bad Mom! We had a great time recording. I hope you have fun listening!
Happy National CBD Day! To celebrate we have a special episode. Meet Meredith, a mom, a medical professional and an all around baddy! We met Meredith and her husband on a cruise just before covid times and a friendship bloomed! Turns out she is another mama that likes multiple streams of income just like Katie so kindfully teaches, see Season 1 Episode 12! I am so glad I found CBD during my cancer journey… my mom and MIL love it too. It helps with so many things. Happy listening and check out these CBD products! https://m2cbd.greencompassglobal.com/
This week's episode is with Anna aka @MyCancerChic. We have something very interesting and special in common; we both met our husbands on Match. She has an interesting story and a multiracial family. Anna is a blogger, cancer survivor, mother, and advocate for mental health. I don't want to spoil the episode so happy listening, and remember Love in Every Hue!
Join me as I interview Prayer and Whitney about their decision not to have children. On this podcast, we talk to everyone we can about their family units and all points of view on that family unit. In my opinion, it is just as hard to decide not to have children as it is to commit to the journey to have them and that is why I made this episode. I appreciate these women for being candid and sharing their points of view. I also love that they came to the same decision from two very different starting points. Happy listening and love in every hue!
This week's episode is with Rachel Sobel aka @whineandcheezits. She is hilarious and I had so much fun recording with her. Rachel is a self-proclaimed: mama, Do-over wife, Truthteller, writer, author, and she has a weekly Instagram live show called All Whined Up by Rachel Sobel. Mondays at 8:30pm featuring a new guest every week. Topics range from all aspects of parenting, relationships & life in general with the purpose of showing that none of us are ever alone in what we navigate on a daily basis. It's unapologetic real talk to your highest degree. And you will hear both of us being unapologetically real in this episode.
I interviewed one of my gf's and coworkers Adriene. She delivered today with her unbridled honesty about the bias that she has faced as a woman of color at a very young age. We also talk about a VERY unfortunate gun incident that happened to a child and how to have difficult conversations with your children. Please see below for the link to stats for accidental gun shootings. https://www.aftermath.com/content/accidental-shooting-deaths-statistics/ Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
Juneteenth is on Saturday. Do you have your Red Velvet Cupcakes ready? I am so happy to bring you the first panel discussion we have ever had on Life with Little Ones. For this Juneteenth 101 episode, we get into a high-level overview of the holiday itself and our personal experiences with the holiday! Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation of those who had been enslaved in the United States. Originating in Galveston, Texas, it is now celebrated annually on June 19. You will hear some new voices and voices from episodes past! I loved seeing everyone's views on the holiday and its growing popularity.
I can not say enough how much I love getting to interview fathers. I just love showing all points of view on life and parenthood, if that is your journey. This week I interviewed Steven, the creator of the Good Dad Movement. Good Dad Movement aka "GDM is meant to inspire a strong community of involved, hands-on dads. Tackling the world of fatherhood with humor and positivity." Steven is a single father co-parenting during a pandemic so it was so good to hear what he had to say about that as well. Make sure to follow him on Instagram @gooddadmovement and check out his online store! www.supportgooddads.com. Happy Listening
Meet Alexandra Fisher! She is the author behind the content on: The Mommy Confessions®️. Alexandra is a single mother, by choice, to two beautiful children. She is self-proclaimed queer AF and a mental health advocate. There was an instant connection during our interview and I am so grateful for her honesty and transparency. Happy listening. I had a BLAST recording this one!
Today is National Nurse's day. Also we are halfway to November which National Home Care and Hospice Month. What better way to celebrate than to share with you the time I spent with one of my new best friends Nurse Allie. Allie is a single mom and a hospice nurse! We get into the intricacies of being a single mom and being a hospice nurse in the pandemic! Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
Allow me to introduce Kait aka @worldskaitest. She is one of the funniest moms I have been able to interview. She became a tik tok star after sharing her touching story of losing her first son. Then she went viral after talking about how important the Covid-19 vaccine is and how she isn't scared of it due to her experiences in her 20's #bluepill #NewOrleans. Since then she has been everywhere between tik tok, IG, and highly featured for being so funny. Enjoy listening to my HILARIOUS new friend! Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
Infertility Awareness Week is April 18-24, 2021, so this is a great lead into that week! I got to interview the best Karen I have ever met. She lives in New York and is "Hilariously Infertile." She teaches, she's an author, she does stand-up comedy, she's a woman who supports women all while being a mom and fluent in Spanish. I love when people take very sensitive and taboo topics and shine a different light on them. So much so that we get to talk about it and destigmatize the topic. Karen has done exactly that with infertility. Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
Michelle Dempsey: Author, Podcast host, certified divorce specialist... What can't she do and what didn't she do in 2020. This is a woman to look up to & she couldn't be nicer. Join me as I talk to Michelle about divorce, co-parenting, life's milestones and how we got to where we are. She's a boss and I learned so much in our interview. Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
So happy that Jess Kelsey aka @kc_mother_hustler made time to sit down with me and talk about all things mom. I was introduced to Jess the way everyone meets people these days, through the internet. She is the mom who went viral when her Roomba scooped up their puppy's poop and spread it all around the house, on her kid's watch. We talk about Dalmations, kids and their hobbies, and as always self-care! Happy Listening! Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
I luckily found Gabi on Tik Tok with a thought-provoking "rap" about the things people have had the audacity to say in reference to her ethnicity. She is an amazing quadruple threat; singer, dancer, content creator, and super smart. In this interview, we get to hear about the journey of a Blended Kid and how things said to her, and the experiences she's had have shaped her as an adult. Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
In today's episode, I interviewed Meghan. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in her late 20's and she didn't let that stop her from living her dreams. She had the wedding of her dreams before she conquered cancer and then against the odds of her cancer, had two beautiful baby girls, one in a pandemic. Her strength amazes me and I hope you'll be blown away too. Happy listening! Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
Oh my goodness I can not believe that it is season two! I want to thank all of you for coming on this journey with me! I started this podcast to share all kinds of stories from all kinds of families; so we could see that we are more alike than we ever thought. Since I have been sharing other's stories I decided this was as good a time as any to share my story and formally introduce myself! As always happy listening and don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
Oh Canada! I had so much fun talking to Kristen Brown. February is just a hop away & is International Prenatal Infection Prevention Month. Kristen is a prenatal dietitian and a mother of twins so who better to talk to. We touch on house renovations, telling twins apart, and how motherhood is NOT a competition. Normalize mom supporting moms and women supporting women! Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
In today's episode, I interview Katie, Queen of Reels, as I call her. She is one of the funniest guests I have had on the podcast! I love watching her speak our mom thoughts through Instagram's reels. She is a leader of the hot mess moms movement and she is here to tell you that it's ok not to be perfect. And I am here to tell you that none of us know what we are doing. It's like being pushed into the deep end of a freezing cold pool and then realizing your cellphone is in your pocket and not in your purse. Why? BC you're a mom and you carry a diaper bag and no longer a purse. Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
I had the honor of sitting and talking to Jenna! She quit her job to follow her dreams and pursue a career that supported mental health and self-care. She is the owner and operator of PartiiBox out of Las Vegas and it is the answer to every mom's desire when throwing a party. We get into it all, careers, past relationships, interracial dating, and our own blended kidz! Happy listening! Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
Happy Kwanzaa! We have Dzauya as our resident Kawanzaa expert and we couldn't be happier! She is a rockstar mom and employee and she was born in Zimbabwe. I learned a lot from her on all fronts! I can not wait to institute some of what I learned in 2021! For those of you who don't know, Kwanzaa is an annual celebration of African-American culture that is held from December 26 to January 1, culminating in a communal feast called Karamu, usually held on the 6th day. It was created by Maulana Karenga, based on African harvest festival traditions from various parts of Africa, including West and Southeast Africa. Kwanzaa was first celebrated in 1966. Ok so that isn't her name BUT you'll hear in the episode that I officially rename her. In this episode, we get into PPA and PPD for new mothers. Ciarra knew it was love at first sight with her hubby and they have 9 month old now. We also discuss working from home in a pandemic with a baby and how it isn't quite going how any of us expected. Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
I love it when we get to interview fathers on the show. We all know how hard it is on moms but at times fathers have fewer outlets to talk about their experiences. Mo is a first-generation American married to a blended kid and they have just had a child so this was a trifecta of an interview. I got to speak to my friend, of 14 years, about his experiences with what is going on in the world right now, being a new father and moving from Charleston to Atlanta all in a pandemic! Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day. www.change.org/forthekidz
I had the pleasure of speaking to Ana aka @not_thenanny and I appreciate her so much for just always saying what we're thinking. We discuss what it's like being a stay at home mother of 3 during the pandemic and about being asked if she is the nanny. We also discuss the differences and similarities of stay at home moms and working moms and how those are both hard. Catch her interview here and at times [many times] her content makes it on The Today Show! Also, normalize normal kitchens! Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day.
Y'all I finally got my cousin to allow me to interview her. She is the mother of two blended kidz and an all-around baddy. She is in the Army and we talk about being a working military mom, being type-A and making sure that her children have all the diversity available in the area they live in. Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day.
Today's episode is with my friend and co-worker Christine. We had a very early morning recording session and I loved this 6 am sesh. Christine is a natural hair enthusiast, a mother of two, a sister, a friend, and a beagle lover! We both LOVE TV, maybe a little too much! In this episode, we get into the journey of IVF and random and at times unrealistic expectations that we feel that are but on Black mothers. Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
In this week's episode, we explore Down Syndrome Awareness Month and I interviewed Amber Rojas. She is a Blended Kid herself, mother of 5, and an all-around baddy! She found out that her fifth baby was born with down syndrome during an emotional water birth! She has become one of the advocates and educators that we need! ~Happy Listening Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
I had the pleasure of speaking to Curtis Woods this week. Self-proclaimed Fitness Dad | Gym Rat | IT Nerd. Tik Tok sensation and father of three! We got to talk about the decision of sending children back to school in the pandemic. What a Love slap is and who is receiving them!
I got to interview my friend Rachel on conscious coupling, choosing, and beginning to send her son to daycare in a pandemic. We touch on 90 Day Fiance and making cupcakes for strangers. Why is it so hard to make friends as an adult? Let's play a game. Can you count how many times we say PANDEMIC? Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
Our very first podcast! Meet Dr. Ebony Hilton. Double board-certified Anesthesiologist, author, Chip's godmother and my best friend! We talk about the start of Blended Kidz, Goodstock Consulting, plopping, and a lot in between! And yes, that is Trey cutting the grass! #smh Don't forget to sign the petition for Blended Kidz Day!
My name is Lauren and I created Blended Kidz to make a helpful, and informative space for parents, of all kinds, and grandparents too. We may not have all the answers, but we know someone who does! Join our community and share your photos, experiences, and questions and answers. Are you are raising multiracial and/or multiethnic children? Are you interested in raising [more] inclusive children? Whether your kids and family are mixed race, multiethnic or not. We are here for it all; Life with Little ones and love in every hue.
