This week we continue our series on presenting the gospel to children in our churches and families with Dr. John Snyder and his wife, Misty. The pair has spent years considering the topic, not just as parents, but as the authors of Behold Your God: Seeking Him Early, a curriculum that aims to present the realities of the gospel to children on their level. We are continuing to get help from Charles Spurgeon's small pamphlet, Feed My Lambs. In that work, Spurgeon warns against several ditches in presenting Christ to children. The first is not speaking on their level. This doesn't mean we should just replace big words with small words. But it does mean defining the words we use carefully and in a way the kids can grasp. Additionally, when the Lord has done the miraculous work of converting a child, we must be careful not to expect perfect fruit or exceptional spiritual maturity before we embrace him or her as a member of the body of Christ. Spurgeon also gives us an opportunity for self-reflection. Do our actions reveal that we don't believe children can be or need to be saved right now? Jesus makes it clear throughout the gospels that he desires the little ones to come to him. He also makes clear how dangerous it is to be guilty of preventing them. Let us bring our hearts to the Lord through this episode and pray he shows us areas we need to rethink and trust that He is able and willing to save our little lambs. Our first parents, Adam and Eve were created in a manner which was upright and perfect. However, in a short period of time, as the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689), puts it; “Satan used the craftiness of the serpent to seduce Eve, who then seduced Adam. Adam acted without any outside compulsion and deliberately transgressed the law of their creation and the command given to them by eating the forbidden fruit.”As a result, all mankind is bound in sin by the implications of Adam's fall. Today, we discuss what this means for us as Adam and Eve's progeny, and how the Lord has purposed for sinners to be made whole. On Valentine's Day of this year, James Felice of Hudson Valley rock mainstay, The Felice Brothers, released his debut solo album “The Little Ones” via Conor Oberst's Million Stars Records. The songs on the record are anything but little. Reflective distress echoes through lessons sought and found in the lyrics. Realizations bloom in the characters singing their choruses. The melodies and instrumentation push the sometimes timid narrators - all in James' voice - to keep sharing their stories until the end of the tune.James Felice joined us at The Linda.
This week we begin a new series with a new guest, Misty Snyder. Misty is the coauthor of Behold Your God: Seeking Him Early and the wife of Dr. John Snyder. For help in this series, we are looking to Charles Spurgeon and J. C. Ryle. Spurgeon's little work, Feed My Lambs, was written for Christian parents and Sunday School teachers. This week, we focus on the opening section where Spurgeon hones in on what it means to feed the little ones. This feeding means that we must speak in a way that children can understand. It doesn't mean simply replacing big words with small words. But it means defining and communicating in a way they can follow and grasp. Last in the series, we will look at a sermon preached by J. C. Ryle, a contemporary of Charles Spurgeon. Check the show notes for the full text of Spurgeon's pamphlet, Ryle's sermons, and links to purchase physical copies, plus other helpful resources for nurturing the faith of the little ones in your life. Our sermons / Bible teaching is a central part of our gatherings.Matthew19:13-3013 Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them.14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” 15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”18 “Which ones?” he inquired.Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,' and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.'”20 “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.”25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”27 Peter answered him, “We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?”28 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.

Matthieu 13:31-32 : Le royaume des cieux est semblable à un grain de sénevé qu'un homme a pris et semé dans son champ. C'est la plus petite de toutes les semences; mais, quand il a poussé, il est plus grand que les légumes et devient un arbre.
I have never had hopeless despair crouch at the door before, but it was sitting right there waiting for me to open it and let it waltz right in. It's easy for that to happen when you look around and see the state of our country and the world. Since the pandemic, it feels like we are on a fast track to the end times. No one knows when that will happen but God,but the signs are surely here. The one thing that makes everything different for us as believers is that our hope isn't in this world. It is in the world to come and all the things that are happening in this world are things that must happen before Jesus comes back. How do we begin to help young children understand loss? What can we do to help little ones grieve while we are walking through it alongside them? For author, speaker, and podcaster Annie F. Downs, these questions became real when her infant nephew, TJ, passed away from a severe medical condition less than two months after he was born. Wanting to help her sister, Tatum Green, and her young son, Sam, process through this loss, Annie did what she was uniquely gifted to do. She wrote Sam a book to help him as he tried to grasp the loss of his little brother. Once it was written, Annie and Tatum knew that this book needed to be offered to other families beyond theirs who were trying to figure out through how to walk young kids through unimaginable losses and so together, they created the final version,Where did TJ Go? A Book for Kids on Grief and Loss. In it, they help children ask the hard questions that can come when they lose someone they love and find hope through the Gospel. In this honest conversation, Davey sits with Annie and Tatum to talk about how a loss impacts a whole family, the best ways we can show up for those we love in their grief, and what we learn about the mystery of God through the rawness of our struggles and questions. If you or someone you love is trying to navigate how to guide a young child through loss, this episode will encourage you that while it can be hard and difficult, simply giving kids the space to ask tough questions and talk about what they are feeling is the first step in walking them through the pain of grief and finding hope along the way. Many of us fear the protection of our children when we leavethem anywhere these days. No one knows what to expect and violence has been steadily ramping up. Not only are we concerned about the physical protection of our children, the reports of the conditioning of our children are alarming. At every turn, the biblical values that we teach our children are under attack. It is becoming a world where the authority ofparents over what our children are taught and live is being undermined. I'm here to tell you there is a solution toall of it, right at our fingertips. We are back this week to keep talking about what itlooks like to live a Legacy of Faith. Last week we talked about what it looks like when kids love Jesus really young. If you're like me maybe you've struggled with not having a “fancy” testimony. Abbey and I talked about the benefit of exposing little ones to faith from a young age and if you're an adult in the life of a kid what a gift that is to give them. This week we are going to talk about how practically we point kids to faith! If you want to apply what you learn today for this series I'm creating a download with a verse to meditate, a passage to study, and questions to dig in deeper. White noise can seem magical — your baby is super fussy, then all of a sudden fast asleep! If you have a colicky baby, try playing this white noise for sleeping. White noise for babies mimics the sounds they heard in the womb, creating a sense of comfort at bedtime. It can also help cover up background distractions that can keep them up at night. Next time your little one is having trouble falling asleep, soothe them to sleep with baby white noise. While playing white noise for babies, it's important to keep tabs on the volume, because any white noise machine, smartphone, or computer can put out levels that are too loud for your child. Jewels says it's probably OK to tell little ones the truth when they have questions as long as we keep the explanations at their level, but also acknowledges, as usual, that she could be wrong. And if you have little loved ones in your life (don't we all?), she recommends writing good old fashioned letters and cards because young children like receiving mail and they'll know that you're thinking about them, even if they don't tell you.Try it sometimeemail: jewelssays@gmail.comNot actively checking Instagram, but still there... @jewelssays Hosted on Acast. Hey Friends~ In today's world, we are taught to seek answers within ourselves. But if we stay there, we become self-absorbed or self-conceited and depressed. This foundation begins in the earliest years. In this special comeback episode of Motherish, we're diving into the true spirit of the holidays: giving. We often say “sharing is caring,” but this year, it takes on a whole new sparkle as we explore how even the smallest hands can make a big difference. This holiday season, Motherish is excited to partner with McDonald's to celebrate their Pet Simulator Happy Meal. Imagine the joy on your child's face as they not only enjoy a Happy Meal but also get to share the fun by giving a toy to a friend, sibling, or even a neighbor. Through this special campaign, McDonald's is helping kids feel the joy of being the “gifter”—not just the giftee—and teaching them that giving can be as magical as receiving. Just in time for Giving Tuesday, join us as we talk about creating moments that matter, fostering empathy, and raising the next generation of generous hearts.

In this week's episode, we model what it looks like to pray Lectio Divina, which is a divine reading of Sacred Scripture. We begin by sharing the different ways we spend time in Sacred Scripture, how it has impacted our lives, and model how to pray Lectio Divina. We invite you to follow along and join us as we spend time reading and reflecting on John 15:5-8. Sacred Scripture is the voice of God and what He has said is alive forever and relevant to our lives in all situations. We encourage you to journey with us as we deepen our relationship with God through His word. Follow us on social media for all the latest updates! Journal Questions: When do I encounter the Scriptures throughout my day? Do I incorporate Lectio Divina into my prayer routine? What obstacles prevent me from entering into Lectio Divina? How can I begin to incorporate Lectio Divina more frequently into my prayer? Discussion Questions: How have you been nourished by the Word of God? Have you struggled to hear the voice of God in the past? When do you hear the voice of God in this season of your life? What stuck out to you during the Lectio Divina within the episode? Quote to Ponder: “It is especially necessary that listening to the word of God should become a life-giving encounter, in the ancient and ever valid tradition of lectio divina, which draws from the biblical text the living Word which questions, directs and shapes our lives.” (Saint Pope John Paul II, Novo Millennio Ineunte, 39) Scripture for Lectio: “I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit; because apart from me you can do nothing. Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire and burned. If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and become my disciples.” (John 15:5-8) Sponsor - Emmaus Road Publishing: Introducing the Saints Around the World for Little Ones Collection from Emmaus Road Publishing!
