Limited Fork Music

Artist Statement for "Mother's Day," a graphic prose poem in eight 20x30 panels, part of the Place.Mark exhibition opening on 7 March 2008 at the Work Gallery on State Street in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The music is a remix of "Environmental Experiment 109" by Strexx, and is available, with other environmental experiments, from strexx.com A small slideshow of the panels may be experienced in the Limited Fork podcast.

The author, Thylias Moss, reads her picture book I WANT TO BE with music by the 2002-3 version of Ansted (when he was ten). This audio file is For Janice H. and Talisa J., a mother and a teacher to whom this book has become important. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the book, thoughts that extend what the book accomplishes. I am glad to have you as collaborators in expansion. Sound poam treatment of "Maudell's Moon," a print poem by Thylias Moss, dedicated to Kevin Clark who provided the occasion for the recording of this version that differs from the print object necessarily for not occupying the same form of space, and for needing to adapt to the forms of occupancy possible in the different host landscapes (I'm thinking also of Zachary C. --thanks for being in this landscape, too).

Part of the project to distill the soundtrack of HEAT DOZENS (a video poam available in the Limited Fork podcast) into some of its composite sonic constituents. This unit of composite sonic constituency focuses on the "Elements of Damage" isolate. The designation of "damage" for this isolate may depend in part upon the cooperation of visual damage cues, and feedback loops between the sound and the visual to reinforce a "damage" contract (which may be broken or strengthened in a number of ways, by either partner or by other arriving parties). Even if this sonic isolate retains an association with damage based upon sonic elements only, the nature of the damage may be perceived differently without the corroboration of visual damage to help define intensity and duration of damage.

soundtrack of the LFMK video poam made for the SAPAC (Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center & SafeHouse Center) "rEVOLUTION" show in the Duderstadt Center Gallery to launch the LFMK brand. LFMK (Looking for My Killer) is a (type of) PSA that hopes to call attention to the vulnerability of humanity through an extreme selfless act, that of a woman using herself to attract the attention of an attacker in order to protect other women the attacker might pursue if she were not willingly available. Because she enters into her humanitarian mission joyfully, the music is spirited, the colors of the embedded ads (by Ansted Moss of abstract-projections.com) are vivid.
