First Phosphate Corp. has announced a significant milestone in its mission to establish a localized lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supply chain in North America. CEO John Passalacqua joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share details on the company's successful production and testing of commercial-grade LFP 18650-format battery cells made entirely from North American-sourced critical minerals. Passalacqua reported that the battery cell capacities measured during testing fully met original manufacturing specifications. Importantly, the cells demonstrated consistent retention of capacity at increasing discharge rates—an impressive result given that the production came from a small-scale development run using new materials without prior manufacturing history. The company also highlighted encouraging data on cycle life performance, with results projecting at least 80% capacity retention after 2,000 discharge cycles. This performance positions the PHOS-LFP 18650 battery cells as particularly well suited for high-performance applications that require both strong energy density and robust power output. Testing further revealed good relative voltage stability even under demanding conditions, including at discharge rates of up to 5C current, underscoring the durability and resilience of the cells. Passalacqua emphasized that this achievement demonstrates the potential of First Phosphate's vertically integrated strategy—linking North American critical mineral resources directly to battery-grade LFP materials and commercial-grade cell production. By proving the viability of locally sourced and manufactured cells, the company has taken a key step toward reducing reliance on foreign supply chains while strengthening North America's position in the fast-growing energy storage and electric vehicle markets. #proactiveinvestors #firstphosphatecorp #cse #phos #otcqx #frspf #frspf #phosphate #CriticalMinerals #BatteryMaterials #LFPCathode #FirstPhosphate #CanadaMining #GreenEnergy #SupplyChain #QuebecMining #EVBatteries #dod

First Phosphate Corp. CEO John Passalacqua joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce the Company has successfully closed its latest financing round, raising $2.95 million from an existing investor along with several follow-on investors. This financing marks the ninth management-led non-brokered private placement since June 2022, bringing total capital raised to approximately $31.4 million, with an impressive $11.2 million secured in just the past three months. Passalacqua emphasized that the fresh capital leaves First Phosphate in a solid financial position, with about $4 million in cash currently on hand. Since inception, the Company has now secured roughly $17 million in net funding, providing the resources necessary to advance its growth strategy. The funds will primarily support drilling and exploration activities at the Company's Begin-Lamarche property, where First Phosphate is working to expand and define its resource base. Passalacqua also pointed to ongoing progress at the Lac à l'Orignal project, where assay results from the current drill program are expected within the next month. These results will feed into an updated resource estimate, a key milestone for the Company. Passalacqua reiterated the Company's overarching objective: to build a vertically integrated operation capable of supplying phosphate material for the LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery industry in North America. He highlighted that the surface phosphate mineralization at Begin-Lamarche strengthens the Company's ability to establish a stable and sustainable supply chain for the growing EV and energy storage markets. With a clear strategy, a robust balance sheet, and strong investor support, First Phosphate continues to advance its mission of becoming a key player in securing North America's clean energy future. #proactiveinvestors #firstphosphatecorp #cse #phos #otcqx #frspf #frspf #phosphate #CriticalMinerals #BatteryMaterials #LFPCathode #FirstPhosphate #CanadaMining #GreenEnergy #SupplyChain #QuebecMining #EVBatteries #dod

2025's ag laws, no spin. American Farm Burueau Federation Economist, Daniel Munch, breaks down what the American Relief Act and HR1 (“One Big Beautiful Bill”) actually changed for farmers, ranchers, and timberland owners: disaster aid, tax relief, ARC/PLC extensions, conservation through 2031, disease‑readiness funding—and what Washington still hasn't fixed. Why these passed: must‑pass funding + reconciliation math, not kumbaya. Core programs extended to 2031: ARC/PLC, Dairy Margin Coverage; EQIP/CSP/ACEP funded forward. CRP: not extended in HR1; needs separate action (a “skinny” farm bill or stand‑alone). Disaster money: ~$30B total in the Relief Act (≈$10B economic aid to row‑crops; ≈$20B disasters). Helpful, not enough to backfill multi‑year crop, livestock, timber, and infrastructure losses. Drought trigger fixed: LFP now four consecutive weeks of qualifying drought (down from eight). Rancher win: LIP now 100% compensation for federally protected predator kills (wolves/grizzlies). State block grants: Flexibility for hard‑hit states (e.g., hurricane zones) that can include timber. Taxes you can actually use: Estate tax exemption permanent at $15M / $30M couple; 199A stays; bonus depreciation back; Section 179 expensing up to $2.5M for equipment and capital improvements (barns, fencing, irrigation). Clean fuel credits (45Z): benefits risk getting stuck at processors unless contracts force value back to growers. Disease readiness: $233M/year mandated for stockpiles, diagnostics, training—real money to keep herds healthy. Market context: Land values up but margins down; these programs support lender confidence but don't erase price pressure. Foreign land ownership: Data/reporting gaps are real; enforcement and look‑through need teeth; private‑property rights vs. national‑security concerns. Why SNAP stays in the farm bill: urban votes keep farm programs alive. No SNAP = no votes = no farm bill. Our first episode covering sodium-ion batteries featured a cautious take on the chemistry: Back in February Adrian Yao, founder of Stanford's STEER program, explained the challenges of reaching competitive energy density and costs, especially given the falling price of LFP. Still, sodium-ion chemistries are picking up steam, thanks largely to growing deployments in stationary storage and small-scale mobility in China. So what's a more bullish take on sodium-ion? In this episode, Shayle talks to Landon Mossburg, founder and CEO of sodium-ion battery manufacturer Peak Energy. He outlines a pathway to competitiveness and argues that, in the right applications, the advantages of sodium-ion chemistries outweigh their challenges. Shayle and Landon cover topics like: Why almost all current deployments of sodium-ion capacity are in China — and why Korean battery giants are committed to LFP right now The thermal advantages of sodium iron pyrophosphate (NFPP) vs. the higher energy densities of layered oxides Sodium-ion's supply chain benefits and lower CapEx requirements How NFPP's system-level savings in cooling, safety, auxiliary power, and maintenance — plus strong cycle life — could offset its current cell cost premium Resources: Catalyst: The promise and perils of sodium-ion batteries   Latitude Media: Peak Energy's quest to build US sodium-ion battery dominance   Latitude Media: Is it too late for the US to rival China on sodium-ion batteries?   Nature Energy: Critically assessing sodium-ion technology roadmaps and scenarios for techno-economic competitiveness against lithium-ion batteries   Credits: Hosted by Shayle Kann. First Phosphate Corp. CEO John Passalacqua joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce a major milestone for the company: the finalization of an industrial land option agreement with the Port of Saguenay. This agreement grants First Phosphate exclusive rights to enter a definitive lease for land that will host a state-of-the-art phosphoric acid plant, leveraging advanced clean technology from Belgium's Prayon SA and engineering implementation by Italy's Ballestra S.p.A. Passalacqua shared that construction of the facility is expected to begin in 2028. The strategic location at the Port of Saguenay will give First Phosphate direct access to both rail and deep-water vessel transportation routes, ensuring streamlined delivery to North American and international markets—including key offtake partners in Europe. The project site will also benefit from significant industrial infrastructure, existing utilities, and future expansion opportunities. According to Passalacqua, this positions First Phosphate to pursue full vertical integration—from upstream phosphate extraction and processing to downstream LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery material production. This agreement marks a crucial step in First Phosphate's long-term strategy to become a vertically integrated North American supplier of critical battery materials, with a focus on environmentally responsible technology and global market reach. #proactiveinvestors #firstphosphatecorp #cse #phos #otcqb #frspf #phosphate #CriticalMinerals #BatteryMaterials #LFPCathode #FirstPhosphate #CanadaMining #GreenEnergy #SupplyChain #QuebecMining #EVBatteries #dod

Lithium-manganese-rich (LMR) batteries could offer a rare combination in energy storage: high energy density at lower costs. They swap much of the expensive nickel for abundant, affordable manganese. But technical hurdles — like poor cycle life, voltage decay, and long formation time — kept them on the sidelines. Now GM says it's solved these challenges. In May, it announced plans to mass produce LMR batteries starting in 2028. In energy density, the new chemistry would land between the two major alternative chemistries in the U.S., NMC and LFP. So what does this new entrant mean for the U.S. battery market? In this episode, Shayle talks to Kurt Kelty, VP of battery, propulsion, and sustainability — and a 30-year battery industry veteran who led Tesla's battery development for over a decade. Shayle and Kurt cover topics like: What parts of the U.S. battery supply chain to on-shore or near-shore The tradeoffs between LFP, LMR, and high-nickel chemistries The roles that Kurt sees for all three in the market  Shifting production lines and supply chains from NMC to LMR Why LFP may still outcompete LMR in the stationary market Resources: General Motors: Why LMR batteries will change the outlook for the EV market AutomotiveDive: GM, LG Energy target commercializing manganese-rich batteries for EVs  WSJ: An Ex-Tesla Engineer Is Turning EVs Into Affordable Family Cars Catalyst: What happened at Northvolt? Today on the Clean Power Hour, host Tim Montague speaks with Jordan Harris, CEO of Yotta Energy, about their unique approach to commercial rooftop solar battery storage. Harris introduces Yotta Energy's latest innovation – the Yotta Block – a modular building block-type battery product that installs directly in line with solar panels, similar to microinverters. The battery becomes the ballast block. This distributed energy storage solution reduces soft costs associated with traditional battery installations, making it ideal for the small to mid-sized commercial and industrial (C&I) market.Harris details Yotta's innovative three-phase thermal management system that maintains batteries in optimal operating conditions while serving as a safety mechanism, minimizing thermal runaway concerns. The company utilizes safer LFP battery chemistry and a design architecture that provides natural standoff between units, addressing key safety considerations for rooftop deployment. We also cover how Yotta's solution potentially streamlines system design and permitting to installation and ongoing maintenance. Before joining Yotta Energy, Harris deployed over $1 billion in the solar and battery storage value chains, giving him deep insight into the challenges facing the C&I market. His expertise positioned him perfectly to recognize Yotta's potential to unlock this critical sector of the renewable energy transition. Listen to this episode to discover how Yotta Energy's module-level approach to energy storage could conveniently augment commercial solar installations and improve project economics through reduced soft costs and streamlined deployment.Connect with JordanLinkedIn: Jordan HarrisWebsite: Yotta Energy Support the showConnect with Tim Clean Power Hour Clean Power Hour on YouTubeTim on TwitterTim on LinkedIn Email tim@cleanpowerhour.com Review Clean Power Hour on Apple PodcastsThe Clean Power Hour is produced by the Clean Power Consulting Group and created by Tim Montague. Sodium-ion could be the next big thing. Last August, Natron announced a $1.4B factory in North Carolina. Other U.S. companies like Peak Energy, Bedrock Materials, and Acculon Energy are jockeying for position in the market. Meanwhile, almost all of the world's sodium-ion manufacturing capacity, current and planned, is in China. CATL's CEO Robin Zeng suggested that sodium-ion could ultimately take up to half of LFP's market share. The potential advantages are exciting: Sodium-based chemistries could be cheaper and safer. They could also use domestically sourced materials, avoiding the geopolitical headaches of minerals critical to the lithium-ion supply chain, like nickel, cobalt, and copper. So, amid all the sodium-ion hype, what's credible and what's not? In this episode, Shayle talks to Adrian Yao, founder of Stanford's STEER program, a battery research group specializing in techno-economic analysis. He's also a board member of lithium-ion manufacturer EnPower, where he was once a co-founder and CTO. Shayle and Adrian talk about the findings from a recent Nature paper Adrian co-authored exploring a techno-economic analysis of sodium-ion batteries. They cover topics like: The differences between sodium-ion and lithium-ion, as illustrated by the battery sandwich  Misconceptions about sodium-ion, for example, that it's necessarily safer  The biggest challenges: energy density and cost competitiveness How players in the lithium-ion supply chain could pivot to sodium-ion Why the technology's success may hinge on the price of nickel, copper, and other lithium-ion materials Recommended resources Nature Energy: Critically assessing sodium-ion technology roadmaps and scenarios for techno-economic competitiveness against lithium-ion batteries Latitude Media: Peak Energy's quest to build US sodium-ion battery dominance Heatmap: Is Sodium-Ion the Next Big Battery?
