With its roots in the Financial System Inquiry, the ASIC user-pays mode, or ASIC levy, has been heavily criticised in recent years. Vicki breaks down the evolution of cost recovery guidelines, the meteoric rise in the ASIC Levy since 2017 and the challenge facing practitioners of either absorbing costs or passing them on to customers.
