You know the feeling you have created a todo list the day before or the start of the day and at the end of the day you look back and you find that you have not completed your tasks or worse, haven't started at all! It does not have to be that way. In this episode, I share some of the things I have experimented with when setting tasks and getting things done. Some of the stuff is unconventional and as a result of learning through mistakes. Ever heard of just setting one task for the day? I talk about that in the episode and more. We all know that good lifestyle design starts with some goal setting, but using wrong frameworks and strategies on setting goals can be a setback. I was looking back on some of the goals I made and had a good laugh, "I want to be rich before 30". Sounds good at surface value but is the goal: Specific, (when and how am I going to do this?) Measurable (what does rich look like?), Attainable, (am I in the right conditions to make it work? Is the timeframe realistic? There might be somethings that I missing) Relevant (should I be focussing on income-generating while managing a tough course load or wait that out first?) Time-Bound(yes that is a deadline but are the ones closer?) In this episode, I go through the thought process of setting SMART goals and how to avoid common mistakes. In this episode of PushStartHacks, I talk about my productivity app combination that helps me handle various life spheres, health, work and relationships. We handle apps that will help you with goal setting. It has been proven that people that write down their goals are more likely to achieve them than people that don't. People that write them down and work on them do much better: https://www.forbes.com/sites/markmurphy/2018/04/15/neuroscience-explains-why-you-need-to-write-down-your-goals-if-you-actually-want-to-achieve-them/#60521b467905 Now that you have set your goals, you need to turn them into actionable tasks. Here are some of the apps that might help you with that: todoist.com (my personal favourite) anydo.com (links up nicely with google calendar, which is the next point). Goals, turned into tasks are great, but tasks turned into items on your calendar, take your commitment to the next level. I personally use google calendar, there are many kinds of apps there that might be great for your personal taste. Remember though, simplicity makes things easier, execution is king and these things take time to get used to so don't be hard on yourself. BONUS tip in the episode. Thank you for listening.
