In this week's episode, we have the amazing Amy from Wear the Damn Dress. She is an advocate and inspiration for the curvy community. She shares her raw, honest story of battling diet-culture and her ability to love and accept herself at any size. Amy knows what it feels like to shy away from the camera, to pick herself apart in the change room, and chase a weight goal in a way that wasn't healthy, but one day she decided that wasn't serving her anymore and that something had to change. I was finding myself becoming quite critical of my shape, and my style and was very conscious of what people would think about seeing a tummy line through my dress or if my arms looked fat in a fitted top. I finally decided that this was no way to live my life and took the plunge to just wear what I feel happy and comfortable in, to stop nitpicking myself and my looks to death and to just wear the damn outfits I liked! I am passionate about diversity and representation in fashion, I am anti-diet culture and pro body confidence for everyone. As a woman in business there is a huge importance on getting brand photography done once you are to that stage and able to afford it. But why is it so important? In this week's podcast episode, I interview the very talented Claire from Oak Street Images. Claire shares in the interview her tips and advice on why brand photography is so important, but also how you can plan a photoshoot with ease! Getting in front of the camera doesn't have to be scary with the right team behind you! About Claire: Claire studied painting and photography at National Art School, East Sydney and went on to work at various photography studios and study graphic design. She started her own business in 2000 designing bespoke wedding invitations and glamorous handmade hair accessories featured in Marie Claire magazine. She was then approached to make a range of pieces to be featured in a popular surf company's fashion catalogue. Photography finally took hold and ever since then she has worked with a myriad of brands as well as creating memories for families all over Australia. Moving to the Central Coast NSW in 2018 she realised that the market was screaming out for a branding photographer and Oak Street Images was born. When covid hit she offered over 20 complimentary photography packages to local start-ups so that they could get up on their feet and use the images to market their brand during lockdown. Fast forward to today and she has worked with some of the Coast's most enterprising entrepreneurs and businesses. At the end of March, she was flown over to Palm Springs USA to shoot a conference and create branding photography for those attending. She is also launching her course get set to shoot in 2022.
