What does it really mean to be emotionally strong—and why is emotional intelligence the leadership skill of the future? Emily Anhalt, author of the new book Flex Your Feelings: Train Your Brain to Develop the 7 Traits of Emotional Fitness, explains why mental health is an ongoing practice, and how we can get more fit. She breaks down why emotional resilience, self-awareness, and adaptability are essential not just for personal well-being but for building sustainable, high-performing teams. Plus, Anhalt explains why emotional fitness is more like going to the gym than going to the doctor, how to build it through “emotional pushups,” and why soft skills are actually some of the hardest (and most valuable) to build in your career.  Check out Emily's new book here: https://www.amazon.com/Flex-Your-Feelings-Develop-Emotional/dp/0593717619

[01:00] Matt Harmon Joins the ShowYahoo Sports football analyst Matt Harmon (@MattHarmon_BYB) joins the show to break down the biggest wide receiver moves of the offseason. The conversation focuses on the impact of DK Metcalf being traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Davante Adams joining the Los Angeles Rams, and the possibility of Deebo Samuel being the next major player to be traded. With multiple receivers already on the move, the discussion also explores whether Cooper Kupp could be the next wide receiver to change teams. [16:20] Lakers vs. Celtics Recap (Celtics 111, Lakers 101)The Boston Celtics proved their dominance once again by defeating the Los Angeles Lakers. This segment analyzes what this victory says about the Celtics and their championship aspirations. The Lakers struggled in the third quarter, shooting just 21% from the field while committing six turnovers, raising the question of how far away they are from truly competing with the NBA's best teams. With Jayson Tatum dropping 40 points and Jaylen Brown adding 31, the discussion turns to whether the Celtics are the clear-cut best team in the league and what strategies teams might use to beat them. [24:15] Ronnie Stanley Re-Signs with the RavensThe Baltimore Ravens have secured a crucial piece of their offensive line by agreeing to a three-year, $60 million deal with left tackle Ronnie Stanley. This move ensures quarterback Lamar Jackson's blind side is protected, which could have a significant impact on Baltimore's offensive success moving forward. With four offensive line starters returning from last season, the Ravens have solidified one of the league's most important units. However, left guard Patrick Mekari remains an unrestricted free agent, leaving one question mark in their protection scheme. The discussion focuses on how this move shapes the Ravens' Super Bowl aspirations and the ripple effects it may have on their roster construction. Make sure you have a fresh bottle of Kombucha ready for this episode! We dig into Eric's passion for his work and the importance of intellectual exercise. Mentions: Eric: https://www.ericjaysonnenschein.com/ HighSpeed Daddy: https://www.highspeeddaddy.com/?rfsn=7178368.317ce6 Live Rishi: Use the code "TABLE50" and get 50% off your entire order: https://liverishi.com/ Me: https://berawpodcast.com/ 'til next time! The Importance of Intellectual Exercise: Because Who Doesn't Love Using Their Brain? Ah, intellectual exercise—because using your brain is apparently just as important as using your body. Who knew? In a world where scrolling through social media counts as reading and binge-watching ten seasons of a TV show in one weekend is considered "commitment," mental stimulation is somehow still relevant. Crazy, right? Now, let's talk about why flexing those mental muscles is crucial. Because, let's be honest, relying on autopilot for the rest of your life might not be the best strategy—unless, of course, you enjoy being outsmarted by your toaster. 1. Keeps Your Brain from Turning Into Mush You know what's fun? Having a brain that actually works. Just like muscles deteriorate when they aren't used, your brain also gets lazy when it's not challenged. If you think solving a crossword puzzle or reading something more complex than a fast-food menu is too much work, then congratulations—you're on the fast track to becoming a human houseplant. Keep it up, and pretty soon, forming coherent thoughts might require Google assistance. 2. Prevents the "What Was I Saying Again?" Syndrome Ah, memory loss—the fun little trick your brain plays when you treat it like an old piece of furniture. Studies suggest that engaging in intellectual activities like reading, problem-solving, and, you know, actually thinking, can help prevent cognitive decline. But sure, go ahead and rely on your phone for everything. I'm sure Siri won't mind reminding you of your own birthday in a few years. 3. Boosts Creativity—Because Original Thoughts Are Rare These Days Want to be the kind of person who actually contributes something interesting to a conversation instead of regurgitating TikTok trends? Well, congratulations, intellectual exercise is your secret weapon. Reading, debating, and analyzing ideas help develop critical thinking skills, which means you might actually have a fresh perspective on something. Imagine that—being able to form an opinion that wasn't spoon-fed to you by an algorithm. Revolutionary. 4. Makes You Less Gullible (Hopefully) Ever wonder why some people believe everything they read on the internet? Lack of intellectual exercise, my friend. A well-exercised brain can detect nonsense from a mile away. So, if you'd rather not fall for the latest conspiracy theory about how Wi-Fi signals are controlling your thoughts, maybe—just maybe—consider engaging in some critical thinking activities. 5. Gives You Something to Talk About Other Than the Weather Nobody wants to be that person at a dinner party whose conversational skills are limited to “Wow, crazy weather we're having, huh?” Reading books, learning new skills, and challenging yourself intellectually make you a more interesting person. Because let's face it—there are only so many times you can get away with saying, “I don't really read” before people start questioning your life choices. Conclusion: Use It or Lose It At the end of the day, exercising your brain is the difference between staying sharp and becoming that person who calls tech support because their computer won't turn on… only to realize it's unplugged. So, do yourself a favor—read a book, learn a language, play chess, or at the very least, do a Sudoku puzzle once in a while. Your future self (the one who actually remembers where they put their car keys) will thank you.

Nissan's Armada sailed into the Japanese automaker's fleet in 2003. This body-on-frame SUV has become a staple in the Nissan lineup and gave the United States a taste of Nissan's off-road chops. While the Nissan Armada spent two generations with a V8 under its hood, the third-generation Armada showed its face last year with two fewer cylinders and a pair of turbocharges. The third-gen Nissan Armada sticks with body-on-frame construction,  but has pivoted to a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 under the hood. The new engine might not have as many cylinders, but it does crank the output up to 425 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. That's a 25 hp and 103 lb-ft of torque bump over the outgoing V8, for what it's worth. That V6 sends its power through a nine-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels or a four-wheel-drive system. On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek executive editor Tom Murphy hops behind the wheel of the '25 Nissan Armada and puts it through its paces. Murphy takes you on a guided tour of the 2025 Nissan Armada and highlights some of his favorite features. Later, Murphy takes you on a live drive review of this third-generation Armada. Joining these segments, Murphy chats with host Wesley Wren about the Nissan Armada, the state of large SUVs in the marketplace, and more. DEI – diversity, equity, inclusion – is “immoral,” per Donald Trump, a White man born into millions whose father bought him an Ivy League degree and gave him a $400 million head start in the business world. Your first indication that U.S. Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., is planning to run for re-election in 2026: he voted for the Laken Riley Act, the pretend get-tough-on-immigration bill that will allow the Trump administration to go after DACAs and people under Temporary Protected Status protections. We finally heard from our MAGA congressman, Ben Cline, on the issue of President Trump's inexcusable pardons of the 1,500 J6ers who tried to overturn the 2020 presidential election to keep their Dear Leader in power.

Ohio State took Iowa out to the woodshed and the Buckeyes are making an argument that they should be considered the best team in the country. Oregon didn't play the cleanest game, but they cruised to a Friday night win over Michigan State in Eugene. Penn State was playing with its food a bit, but eventually put away UCLA in Happy Valley. Washington got revenge for the national championship game last season, securing the victory over Michigan in Seattle. Minnesota finally got a conference win and stormed the field after upsetting USC. Indiana went on the road and took care of business against Northwestern to start the season 6-0. Wisconsin got a bounce back win, hammering Purdue 52-6 and Nebraska doubled up Rutgers 14-7. The guys talk about their picks against the spread this week with Ryan going 4-3-1 and David 3-4-1 plus they update their Big Ten and mythical Pac-12 Power Rankings.
