Gumbeaux Fam—New Season, New Series.I recorded this episode December 23, 2021 in an attempt to start off a new series #DreamChamps!! I love to dream, but most importantly I love that our dreams have MEANING. Friendships, business/work relationships, marriage, etc.)Enjoy & let us know if you can relate.
Gumbeaux Fam, the Trust Issues series continues with Trust Issues (Part II). This time I'm exploring my inability to trust ME, MYSELF, and I. Okay, so it's been AWHILE Gumbeaux Fam. Let's just say I'm still working on the whole “road to 100 episodes” commitment. Slow and steady wind the race, right? (Lol). Anyway, I've been “digging” up some deeply rooted issues as I attempt to heal. It's not a cute journey…at all! I'd like to start talking/sharing here though. Let's Geaux! Enjoy.
What if I told you that you were about to enter the season of “EVERYTHING”! Any and everything you prayed for is awaiting you…but you must blindfold yourself and hold a hand of a complete stranger—would you do it!!?Gumbeaux Fam, enjoy this episode. I hope it blesses you to keep going.
Hello, February and Happy YOU Year!Gumbeaux Fam, I missed you and we are still on the road to 100 episodes. I decided to record one of the many random conversations me and my husband like to have. Listen in as we talk about “high school” (LOL) ~enjoy
Gumbeaux Fam, It's the most wonderful time of the year…it's also the most “GOAL saturated” time of year, as well. I grow exhausted by all the goal setting. “Exhausted” meaning overwhelmed. The “rat race” continues for most of us OR it's a time to evaluate what's gone RIGHT in our lives. For nearly a decade, I've slowly grown from vision boarding (although still actively participating)..just weary of the way I could, at times, overlook some of the outstanding problems I have yet to address before MOVING FORWARD. Let me talk about creating a new year real solution. At least FOR ME. I am creating a problem list I plan to address this year. Enjoy.
Gumbeaux Fam, roll call —CHECK IN!! I'm finding out more and more each day about myself. Sometimes the person we need to check in the most is Ourselves. You'll shock yourself and find that we don't know as much about Us as we thought. This episode I'm just checking in & honestly “checking” myself lol. Enjoy
Allow me to reintroduce HERself...her name is RAYNA!!!She's back, y'all! The woman of luxury and leisure; the blogger/influencer extraordinaire--Mother, wife, Yoga instructor, Certified Career Coach, one of the most brilliant women I know, and most importantly--my friend! I am honored she took the time to chat with us and add, yet ANOTHER, ingredient to our Gumbeaux. Want more from Rayna? Check out her website: MORELUXEANDLEISURE.COMListen as we discuss the polar opposite of the act we know as VISION boarding/vision planning. There is an act of gratitude I want each of you to become acquainted and familiar with---CREATE A GROUNDING BOARD. Enjoy this episode :)
Gumbeaux Fam, I am going to save the apologies and just set this episode right here…and walk away slowly—backwards, creeping—while looking dead in your eyes. This episode simply domes as an update. Thanks to my husband for saying “Let's get this Podcast episode in.” I need that push! We have had so many updates, so I'll let this serve as a part 1.Enjoy! P.S. there is a feature from our little one, Kani *eye roll* (he was supposed to be sleep).
“Life Hack” is defined a strategy or technique adopted in order to manage one's time and daily activities in a more efficient way; but what happens when “hack” becomes an ‘Action'.I've had to find out the hard way you guys. My Facebook account was hacked, and I decided to deactivate my account as a result of that. Which also meant deactivating The Gumbeaux's Facebook, as well. (DEVASTATED). Listen as I process the hacking and realized the lessons within the upset. Seems like there's always a silver lining. Life seems to show us how much more we have to live.
Gumbeaux Fam. I had to stop what I was going and hit record. I am literally THINKING OUT LOUD. Tell me what you think.I'm on this road to 100episodes...join me! Enjoy
Gumbeaux Fam, you have every right to cuss me out as I have neglected my duties to cook up anything since January.Consider this a stroke of Genius or just a “Come to Jesus”. I'm thinking out loud on this episode and switching it up for Season 3. Let me know what you think:: RATE, COMMENT, SUBSCRIBE. Enjoy~
HAPPY NEW YEAY, Gumbeaux Fam!I hope 2021 hasn't scared you off...I mean we are only 15 days into January, so I figured "Why not give Fam a BONUS/Finale Episode to Season 2?"It is only right to end on an 11th episode and follow this "trend" I've claimed for myself LOL. I am bringing my "Hot Sauce"- free association/randomize Q&A to the podcast. If you have NOT seen the Facebook Webshow yet---YOU ARE MISSING OUT. Go watch! You are in for a treat, because I have, yet, ANOTHER GUEST! She is one of my close friends for over a decade & if you haven't read the episode title yet...she is what I like to call a "beautiful storm". Krystal aka Kryssie is a bundle of REALNESS. She does not hesitate to speak her mind which is why it was only right to give her the inaugural HOT SAUCE episode. She does not disappoint, because she did get a little spicy haha.I mean...what is Gumbeaux without a little HOT SAUCE?!! Enjoy.
Gumbeaux Fam!Let me introduce to you, Ms. Donna Barnes---soon to be, Dr. Barnes.Donna is a licensed counselor, business owner, 2x best-selling author, mother, sister, daughter, friend...lastly a Queen. In our conversation she revealed that she LOVES fairytales. Yes, you read that right...everyone loves a "happy ending" right? Well, so does Donna. I realized off of the call that Donna is very much like Princess Tiana. A down-to-Earth, working woman, with big dreams and a beautiful smile. Like Tiana, she dreamed of ownership and success regardless of what her circumstances may have presented to her. Donna has ALREADY defeated her odds. I had to remind her that she is living a fairytale to many of us. It is such a beautiful story with MULTIPLE happy endings...and what's mind-blowing is--IT'S ONLY THE BEGINNING.~Enjoy
Gumbeaux Fam!!Your girl is being 1 thing this month...CONSISTENT. I know you've read the title and thought to yourself..."ooooo, okay what's this?" and we share the same sentiments.Dictionary.com defines "Powerhouse" as "a person or thing of great energy, strength, or power" and this is exactly what our guest, Dr. Allison Smith embodies. From our first encounter to our most recent rekindling, Dr. Smith has been nothing short of extraordinary--and let me just say this conversation is parallel to everything I just mentioned she is and exudes.Lean in and DINE on this one. We had such an enlightening conversation from politics to career to personal ambitions to FREE JEWELRY...Not sure why she gave us all these Gems for free, folks, but I am so glad she did.~Enjoy~
I had the pleasure of interviewing a representative of Generation Z, as well as a young collegiate student pursuing a degree in one of the most at-risk fields in the country at this time...the medical field, more specifically Respiratory Therapy. It just so happens that this wonderful, young woman happens to be my sister-in law. yeah Yeah...I know what you're thinking--Why would you interview someone you know?? Perfect question--especially since realizing I don't know her at all. I discovered a lot with this interview. The ability for this younger generation to potentially defeat the odds and overturn these false pretenses about them. There is hope in our youth, but I also realized some of our youth also do not take the time to BREATHE and take time for themselves.Listen while we have a little Girl Chat + God Talk+ Political/COVID rant + some life talk. Enjoy and remember to BREATHE!
Hey Gumbeaux Fam!!I had the pleasure of interviewing one of the most captivating Black Mental Health Activist of our time, who is also a licensed counselor: *Asha Gibson (IG/Twitter: @shespeakstherapy)*I am honored to know her and call her one of my sister-friends. She is a ball of energy, but an amazing source of information and a wealth of knowledge. She carries herself with such poise, and she is so modest that you would not expect this woman to be such a FORCE--but she is a MOVEMENT BY HERSELF. Listen in as we explore her journey in becoming, what I believe, one of THE major therapist leading this cultural shift.
Moving on to PART 2!My apologies in advance if this episode comes off a bit more abrasive than I've been in the past episodes...BUT this one hit home! In a nutshell *I said to myself*: You don't even know how worthy you are! You won't even pay YOU for what you bring to the table—why you ask?? Some of you are constantly “compromising your number” to appease whomever bc somehow you've lost focus of who/what needs who. THEY need YOU. Not the other way around. THE REAL REASON YOU MAD IS BC YOU OWN NOTHING AND WILLING TO ENSLAVE YOURSELF TO/FOR ANYTHING!
Uh oh! Twofer! 2 for 1 special right here, Gumbeaux Fam! So I guess this is a large Gumbo with a side of potato salad
Hey Gumbeaux Fam!I have been “creatively constipated” and was blaming it on feeling overworked, stressed, spent—all of the above due to my inability to master work-life balance during a pandemic. Let's just say I had a harsh lesson in “Giving Yourself More Grace” this past month, and it was a very humbling lesson.Listen in as I explore “Black Heart
Welcome back, Gumbeaux Fam!!This interview was special---like all the others.Sierra is a Nurse, Certified Fitness Trainer, Wife, Mom, and so much more. She agreed to come to The Gumbeaux Podcast (no pressure, right?) to share her secret ingredient to the pot I am calling (F.I.T-Female In Training; Freedom In Talk-Therapy; Female/Femininity In Transition, and I can go on & on like Erykah Badu, Lol)Transparency is a Superpower, and Sierra left her a piece of her heart on the table for us to see. Listen in on this vulnerable conversation where we take a verbal journey through loving self from the INSIDE--out. Enjoy.
Gumbeaux Fam...I see we've all been ENTANGLED in conversation circulating relationships, marriages, friendships, boundaries, “predatory” behavior, etc. You guessed it—we are talking about this hot topic! It may be a little early in July to talk about August, but hey we all seen her (Alsina) lol...ENJOY!
Hey Gumbeaux Fam!!**MAKE SURE YOU LEAVE A COMMENT**(Let us know how you feel about food for thought thus far.)Season 2 is under way...moving right along. I had the pleasure of talking to my sister-friend, Talasha. We solidified our bond at THE Southern University, and I am so proud of the woman she's become. This episode covers:* Self-love/Body Dysmorphia* Mompreneurship * The Black Woman/Professional Plight* Raising Black menand so much more!! Enjoy
SEASON 2 HERE WE ARE! WE MADE IT!! DON'T FORGET TO LEAVE A COMMENT WITH YOUR RATING. :)First and foremost, thank you for listening!Guess what, y'all? There's a rapidly growing webshow via Facebook called "Paul Don't Lie". (Go visit the hashtag #PaulDon'tLie on Facebook). Well, I was invited on and took part in dialogue centered around {Mental Health}. This interview took place on June 4, 2020, and I wanted to kickoff Season 2 with this featured episode from the Facebook Live. The feedback from this show has been overwhelming. The traction continues to grow stronger and all I want to do is continue this much needed conversation. I want you to enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed participating.Buckle up...this is a 90 minute ride.
Silence is defined as the avoidance of mentioning or discussing something.Gumbeaux Fam, we are not being SILENT at a time like this—I just cannot. This has been an emotionally exhausting week. Listen in to the highs and lows of all of this past week's impact on me. I am continuing to pray for peace in our country. Please do not let your silence be an indication of support for injustice.
